The voice over feels just like the bonus feature on the Spider-Man DVD that gave you hints and tips for the first three levels of the video game. It's like remastered nostalgia
Insomniac really upped their swinging/traversal game for the sequel. I like how players can create their own swinging style compared to the first game where there wasn't much versality; most people's swinging style looked the same.
Agree. I’ve seen various clips of players and they each look quite different. Some smooth and some dramatic and erratic. Love them all. Some of my community swings videos showcase this.
It makes it feel more like we can really be our own spiderman further making spider personas and OCs feel more encouraged and only right Miles Morales made a statement "Be better, be yourself"
another tip is that air tricks always "extend" your distances with extra momentum so a good way to take advantage of that is adding tricks as soon as you launch yourself in any way like after a slingshot or a point launch or after releasing the web wings or after a swing or a rooftop vault etc. if you chain different speed tricks together and add the air tricks as the cherry on top sometimes you can achieve immense speeds and cover massive distances
Since I spent over 160 hours I already knew most of these yet there were still some tricks that I didn't know you could do! Well edited video, it was very pleasant to watch!
@@deepkick9 from the few ones you mentioned I didn't know mostly about roof vaulting Specifically web slingshotting yourself into a wall still gives you momentum and that pressing circle instead of X just makes you run onto the roof instead of doing any jumps or web tricks and another one was probably that when you surf on the water you can do a jump with that momentum in the opposite way and the last one is probably being able to save yourself from hitting the ground using web wings last second (Which I will probably utilize a lot as I use the 0 swing assist) Even though I knew most of these I watched the whole thing so good job! :D
Another thing to note is that holding the corner tether whilst doing a loop actually builds up momentum (although after reaching a maximum point your speed goes back down) so you can do stuff like reach insanely high speeds from just a telephone pole or travel incredible distances by doing that from the empire state building
This video was amazing, thanks for this, at first i thought: i know all of this, but kept watching and from a certain point i learned so much! I have one tip too, when you dive with an air trick, you can’t do a loop de loop anymore. However if you press L3 after your trick, it will complete the loop de loop while being able to do the airtrick aswell
Dope vid but one thing you missed that I love to do is you can trigger certain swing animations by doing a trick holding the trick button as you start your swing so if start doing backflip’s with Peter and hold the truck button as you start to swing again we will swing upside down every time
awesome video man. props to u for mentioning the roof slingshot at 5:20 also as it's one of my favourite moves. i rarely see people use it. it's such a clean animation! was in the past 2 games too
@@helpme6897 it depends on the angle because it can transfer your momentum but it's very inconsistent since unfortunately we don't choose when to trigger it but the game does it itself (which is why i wish we could have control over all these interactions)
It's no secret that Insomniac's Spider-Man has some of the most intuitive swinging, but especially in SM2 they have knocked it out of the park. I've 100%ed the game and i'm still finding out new ways to use certain moves. Adding my piece to the puzzle, i love point launching off a subway whenever i see it going my way. Usually there is a wind tunnel nearby, so it's really only for fun, but the instant speed boost you get feels amazing, when you have the point launch fully upgraded you get max speed.
Ah yes the subway point launch is like the boats, I forgot about that one. The wind tunnel trick is great too, thanks for sharing it. The skill ceiling keeps getting higher for some players. Pushing it to its boundaries.
I have one MAJOR gripe with the system, and it's not it's inability to go upside down or a number of other valid complains regarding the physics, it's actually something that wasn't an as much of an issue in PS4 and MM, though MM was considerably the best in this regard - the issue being how the camera correlates to web placement, specifically on building corners. With the newfound speed of the current system, i find it aimed very far ahead, and latching on targets farther away than what i intend, the slower more technical swinging done around Harlem and Hell's Kitchen is much harder to pull off in Spiderman 2. I find that this is because of the new approach in general, higher swing speeds, rotational swings, corner tethers, dive boosts, wind tunnels, slingshots and the map expansion all coagulate to form this much more block by block style of swinging that makes the building by building style of the older games more difficult. Personally I prefer swinging around the tight sections of city with the visually dirtier MM game over this high saturation speed fest we're currently getting.
I can understand this for sure. There is definitely a contingent of players who prefer the classic old school way of swinging without all the new fancy bells and whistles. The smoothness of it can be relaxing too. But these nasty acrobatic speed demons love pushing it to its limits, no one can stop them.
One of my tricks is to jump off a horizontal wall run right before the edge of the building, then corner tether. In my opinion it looks a lot smoother than the default cornering.
i would love to have aim to swing feature in next game. this will give more physics. eg : if we reach a certain height and aim for building or crane under us which give insane speed and loop de loop. just like crane scene in TASM
Appreciate the enthusiasm. Ngl it took a while 😂 Trial and error, multiple takes to get the right shot, research, working fulltime etc. I didn’t want to rush it.
Cool tip: if you build up enough speed in a wind tunnel, pull up and dive. When you hit the wind tunnel, pull your wings out again. If your Peter, you can easily do a rubric cube. I recommend doing this with river wind tunnels.
They really perfected the web swinging and traversal in this game. I can just swing around for hours listening to music. I am someone who also loved the story and thought miles and Peter were great in this even though I know the story gets some hate. Really the last things I want are weather and maybe have the option to toggle off the symbiote enemies so I can just stop normal crimes more often
I think an interesting way to implement trigger controls for each hand would be to have web-swinging activate when you fully hold L2 or R2. Holding both triggers would enable double-handed swinging. If one trigger is halfway held, zoom would activate, and if both triggers are halfway pressed, point launch would activate. I'm not sure if resistance and haptic feedback could be used in this way, but this is what I thought of when the controller first came out. How else could haptic feedback and resistance help with immersion and simplify controls?
Great video as always ❤Just a quick tip I would like to point out, Just like you mentioned at 11:55 you can do that 180 degree turn even without slingshot. While gliding press X to zipping forward and quickly aim the camera backwards. You can do that whenever you like. 😊
This is true thanks. I guess with the slingshot you just have more speed. But it definitely handy mid flight. Especially if the camera sensitivity is high, makes it easier. Thanks 🙏
This video is so well made. I'm really impressed. Keep it going.❤ And by the way, there is Another trick that i see that nobody really uses. when you press L3 to dive, and then you only hold the square button(nothing else), he starts to put his arms much closer to his sides. Kinda like the TASM 2 dive at the beginning of the swinging scene in the movie. LoL
I have no idea if you hit a wall when swinging you could jusy bounce right off I'll definitely use that. I knew if you dodged into a wall while fighting you can launch off, I had no idea it was a swimging mechanic too though

This pairs greatly with a makeshift slingshot
