Other Things I have used mine for... Wind screen for stove. Floatie for swimming. Roof for my pack during rain. I once cut a chunk off to give to another hiker so they could add padding to their hip belt. Never hike without it!
Great ideas. You can also use it to sweep the tent floor before packing it up in the morning - much nicer to pitch up in the evening. It works for tunnel tents. Self standing tents are easier to 'sweep' by just turning them upside down and shake a bit.
I like to tuck it under the head end of my sleeping pad. In my imagination it helps keep my pillow and head a bit warmer. The extra angle helps keep my pillow from wandering some too.
It can also be worn inside a jacket as extra insulation for the front of the torso. I carry two thin foam mats, one goes under the tent to protect the groundsheet and the other one inside. Being thin they fold easily for backpads and seats and being long I can lay down on any surface and rest. In a cold weather emergency one can be wrapped around the torso or worn as an insulated ‘kilt’ to stave off hypothermia from cold wet legs, allowing someone to walk to safety. I consider a lightweight foam mat one of the most important pieces of gear, even for day hikes.
Im thinking of trying to make my own custom ultralight backpack (and other stuff), and i REALLY like that idea about using the butt-pad with the backpack!!!
Thanks for the video, very good. I forwarded to Gossamer Gear because there are no reviews of the Airflow Sit Light Pad. Do you find it provides better rigidity or airflow than other options like zlite?
So I came to this video because I had an idea with plastic landfills and their problems. If you guys know how to knit, I was thinking to make a seat pad using the disposable shopping bag. I am aware the fact that local churches are making these knitted sleeping pads for homeless people. So why can't the backpacker or outdoor enthusiast like me (though Im from urbs) to use trash to something practical?
Half of those uses are silly. Come on, a dedicated sleeping pad? You're joking right? There is one absolute great use for a z-seat but no one EVER talks about it. If someone is using this for a signal device or a dedicated sleeping pad they can't be helped anyway. Those same guys peel the stickers off their Sawyer micro, and their mini box lighters bc the stickers are too heavy......

You can also use it (carefully!) as a windscreen for your stove.

Never thought of using it as a splint. Good call.
Thanks Pie I carry a z seat but to not use it to its fullest capabilities this video should move me to the next level.

Nice! Thanks for the tips. I have a fold up one that fits into the side pocket of my pack and cost 75c off eBay. Never leave home without it!
I've waited over a year to see someone actually display and review this pad on film, thank you sir.
I am now confident in my purchase.
Nothing else immediately comes to mind, but I do appreciate the reply.
Safe travels.

I love your wooden coffee cup.

great for blocking the wind while cooking with a stove as well.
Can you do a review on the new gg silverback 55?

Really great ideas...Thankyou for sharing! Are you using the Medium size or the Large?
Does it come with that backpack? I just got the gg mariposa and was wondering if is worth it to upgrade to that pad.
Excellent ideas, thanks!
Great ideas Pie
Thanks for the good ideas.
Not bad. Only thing I'd say it's your signing idea. It's all black. What are your alternatives for signaling. Otherwise good alternate uses.
I like how a small item review turned into a 'ten uses' video.
@@pieonthetrail cool video! Fun channel.
Information dense, thanks
Have you ever tried using it like a pillow?
:-) Brilliant* Thanks for sharing*

My sit pad is the foam packaging that came with a laptop.
On my red ass pad I wrote my name, my address, my phone number and my family number, just in case of emergency.
You could also roll it up and use a butt pad to smoke your substance of choice provided your somewhere with sensible laws.
