I want to THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge! I get SO sick of people who learn something, and then want to charge an arm and leg on Fleabay for plans! I NEVER charged people to show them what I learned as a Machinist/Toolmaker for 25+yrs,and most people who come by my place get some piddly work done for free, even if I expend a few cents/dollars on Elec.,and supplies! THAT'S what friends are for!!!
I built a 3 chime NathanP3 tune (C#, E, & A notes) set from DozerBoyMillers plans. The first set of plans seemed to be missing something after studying them & exploded views of real train horns. I bought a 2nd set of updated plans that also included links to 3 proprietary videos & used his favorite diaphragm material, polycarbonate in 0.093 inch thickness. I noticed in real train horns smooth radiused aerodynamic transitions just inside the nozzle inlet & the same into the bell (trumpet shaped part). I bought a large tapered reamer over 1 inch at largest dia. & tapered the pvc where it exited into the bell to reduce turbulence. On the nozzle end, I had access to an old junky lathe at work & machines the nozzles (preglued to the 3/4" exit pipe), 1st with the lathe to knock the sharp corners off inside the nozzle, then switched to a mini-portable belt sander to perfect the perfect, radiused bell curve from nozzle inlet to exit pipe, just like real train horn nozzles! The diaphragm preload is done differemt with his system (no threads). I preloaded to begin blowing at 20 psi using an adjustable air regulator for tuning. My reasoning was I did Not want a low pressure "mouth-blown" version, but a real freakin" LOUD train horn!! I assembled it into a portable Show-N-Blow version with a 11 gallon 140 psi Max spare-air Craftsman tank. 1/2" id hose & ball valve to a steel pipe manifold. 1/4" id clear hose to each chamber & BAM!! Much better than I expected or imagined! I went from building to building at work & got tons of grins, laughs, shocked faces & even people leaping or jumping, though warned repeatedly! And..I even got in trouble for disrupting a big honchos international business call! OOPS!. I originally intended to install the train horn on my little economy car because I kept getting run off the road, unseen & unheard (dinky factory horn) but I had so much fun in ShowN Blow mode, I never got around to it. Paul Nice quality looking mounts & design BTW.
Well done! Thank you for sharing this.I should make a lower frequency horn for my emergencyehicle for just short blasts. Even though 200W electronic siren, truckers often can't hear it.
awesome videos guys, can't wait for the full psi test, you by far have the best design, just wondering how you know when you're at the right note? special tuner? and how ate you planning on putting a switch inside the truck when it comes time to install? maybe a sprinkler valve with a momentary switch on the dash?
I like your tuning methods, I'll have to give that a try. That upper C note is definitely hard to reach. That was one of the hardest notes to get on my horns. But it is possible to reach it. And I recommend keeping all the air inlet holes the same size on all the horns, it makes assembly easier. Then just drop small wire crimp connectors into the air line to reduce the supplied air. These are the style of wire connectors I use. www.amazonsupply.com/wire-crimp-connectors-blue-yellow/dp/B002T1FLPM
Can you explain the arrangement of the diaphrams in detail..is there and particular spacing and how exactly does air pressure effect them..not really understanding how this all works. and clarity would be helpfull.
I've now watched the entire horn series, and see nothing about your feathering valve.Did I miss the details somewhere? Are they bought,or made? Thanks Again for sharing!
where did u find the different size of funnels? And did u recommend the foam inserts for the diafram or I heard to use soda cans. what works better? Thx for ur video.
Ronald Baker OK, lets say it's 1" INside diameter pipe with 1" coupling half on one of its ends - how the end with the coupling could fit through 1-1/2" threaded bushing? Outside diameter of 1" pipe is already ~1.3" - almost, almost near 1.5" diameter of bushing hole - I see no way the pipe to be 1" INside diameter. Of course, maybe I'm wrong - explain me, please :)

Mylar drum head was used as a diaphragm in one of my old truck air horn rebuilds. Good work guys.

if u don't want the air compressor to turn back on, then just disconnect the power....
Thank you for your wonderful and very informative videos. I really appreciate the drawing you included in this video.
This is very cool you guys, I appreciate the creativity and craftsmanship!
Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding job! I especially like the nicely shaped horn bracket stands.

guys should be selling these i'll def buy one lol amazing
cool it sounds like an actual train
what I've found is that nathan uses stainless steel diaphragms. I'm going to try it and see how that works.
The M5 Manifold makes it look like an S5D.
Man !! You are a GENIUS !! Congratulation !

awesome horns! I really want to build the homemade train horns soon!!!
Magnificient horn
Would some 22 or 24 gauge sheet metal work for the diaphragm instead of the polycarbonate?
Have you thought of making a PVC horn organ? :D
We're going to show you what they sound like??? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
What’s that thing called that holds the PVC pipes because that’s what I’m a need one day
I like your tuning methods, I'll have to give that a try.

I like the m5 it sounded just like a train I would like to purchase a m5 so I can mount it in my RV do you make and sell these?.
It sounds like a trains airhorn and an insturment
Very good gave it a like
For the Leslie RS5T would you be willing to share each of the bell lengths to help me tune them?
Can you explain the arrangement of the diaphrams in detail..is there and particular spacing and how exactly does air pressure effect them..not really understanding how this all works. and clarity would be helpfull.
make this horn on your car 😆👌😂
I want to do A PVC Leslie S5A, and I want to know how to change the pitch of the Bell?
this is stellar
I've now watched the entire horn series, and see nothing about your feathering valve.Did I miss the details somewhere? Are they bought,or made? Thanks Again for sharing!
Would i be able to purchase a Nathan M5 PVC From yall?
where did u find the different size of funnels? And did u recommend the foam inserts for the diafram or I heard to use soda cans. what works better? Thx for ur video.
hello. you have a good idea of how I build a horn which has the very deep sound like a ferry or large ship.
Best Regards

Obviously these guys have abandoned us. Does anybody else know where we can score that diagram?
I just paused it a few times until it was nice and clear and then took a screenshot.
sounds legit
Where Did You Get Those Black Funnels?
I want to make a low Frequency (fog horn)... How can I achieve this?
sounds like bigass harmonicas
Google drive is nonexistent now.
I went to the link and the file and I’m told the file doesn’t exist
What's the difference between the 4" to 2" vs 3" to 2" reducers ?
Okej, thanks!
Hey, it says the file doesn’t exist anymore.
You should sell your train horns to a train company that needs new train horns whenever they need them
you wanna sell one?
the link is not working can you send it to me pls.
Where can I get the rs-5t
Please please please sell me the Leslie RS-5T u built! please!
would you sell any?
Hi there. Where do y'all come from? you've got the sweetest dialect :-) Be proud of it and teach Donald fuckin' Trumph some deasant American English!
You still making these?
of course Lowes is out of stock. lol always is.
"Nathan" sounds like a gay cruise ship.
Your link doesnt work
Hello, wanted to ask one thing. 1" pipe - is it INside or OUTside diameter? Thank You!

all pipe is Id and all tubing is od. I know it's weird but that's what the engineers want
