The K5LA is one of my favorites. The first time that I heard one was back in 1978 when I was onboard Amtrak's National Limited on my way from Pittsburgh PA to New York City. The K5LAs are beautiful sounding horns!!
Oh and hey, when you put the big tires on your truck, make sure you set the system for that size of tire or wheel so it doesn’t mess with the speedometer or odometer.
@@TheHornKing that’s cool!! But I would personally buy an F350. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND you sell the F250 or at least trade it in for a new or used F350. Because nowadays, LOTS of people have F250’s, 2500’s, and so on. And also, F350’s are in the more heavy duty and stronger suspension and chassis area. That’s what I would do. But hey, it’s YOUR truck, and your money, you do what you want. And if it’s all you can afford I understand because prices are absolutely ridiculous nowadays. But do consider doing the idea though!
Another 80's tagless K5LA with the cones. I don't know where exactly them collectors get them from, especially with the cones for protection... but nice sound...
HELP - When I squeeze the lever, my K5LA squeals. And no matter how hard I squeeze the lever from that point on, they just squeal louder. HOWEVER, when I push the button that bypasses the manual lever, and opens a 3/4" solenoid valve, they sound off loud and clear every time. Ideas? Pointers? modifications? 5/8" plastic air brake line from tank to horns. Brass elbows in and out of the manual valve. And as I'm typing, I wonder about those ell's. They have a good size internal diameter. Biggest I could find. But still? Thanks, I enjoy your content, and I share in your love. I have twelve noisemakers on my motorhome. One and two would be the twelve inch bell on the bottom, and the K5LA right on top. I love playing train.
WE BE GETTIN NOISE COMPLAINTS WITH THIS ONE LOL
I can literally hear the strength that this K5 unleashes. Despite its age, the horn still sings out loud.
While I’ll still always prefer steam whistles over diesel horns, that is one sweet melody on that K5LA!
2:24 that specific blast sounds *chefs kiss*

Every train/ railroad enthusist is smiling ear to ear hearing that horn.
NJT still uses these, but with solid cones and a pressure around 75psi. Gives a very unique sound.

BEAUTIFUL piece. This WF is a very nice sounding set!
The sound of America 🇺🇸!🛤🚂
Now thats crisp!!
im gonna guess this came of either an F40PH or a Switcher from the 80's based on its sound and color
I sure hope that this K5LA horn is from former Amtrak F40PHR unit 275.
Would love to get my hands on a horn like this. Sounds lovely.

4:41 sounds like a coaster F40 horn
That should be on a train! Regardless, nice work making a nuisance!

Former '80s Amtrak employee here. Takes me back, way back. How much?
Sounds awesome. Do you sell any of your horns
Hey man yea I sell a few from time to time. Holler at me on my Instagram if your looking
Nice!
Could you do full low horn?
Is it from the F40PH locomotives???
Yes this one was most likely on a F40
@@TheHornKing Was it from unit 275 or some other F40PH unit???
Unfortunately I don’t know the exact unit this horn came from only that it was supposedly of Amtrak heritage
@@TheHornKing OK.
How bout you do an horn battle with a train?
Hey that’s a good idea!
