I used to be so confused about the construction of se me olvido - until I realized that the verb in this case is being used in a different way. It is akin to "it escapes me" in English. We don't use that phrase all that often in the US, but it's the best way I can explain the direct translation of se me olvido.
Hey! Yeah, it´s a super confusing structure that we *generally* don´t use in everyday spoken English! Hopefully our explanation helped clear things up too 😀
Your videos are really cool guys, I wish I'd found your channel when I was starting out. I spent a lot of my time in Spain some of these I've heard but not all, I'll have to listen out for them.
Hey Robert! Thanks so much for watching! Yeah, some of them are quite Mexican ("cómo ves" and "hacerse wey" in particular!) which is why you might not have heard them 😊

Great Video! I Googled The Difference Between Por Siempre vs. Para Siempre And It Suggested Your Website, Which Then Led Me To This Amazing, Funny And Educational Video, Love IT 🎯 👏😆 I Am Very Excited To Watch The Others Thank You So Much! O ¡Muchísimas Gracias!
Hey! Welcome to our channel 😀 So glad to hear that people are clicking through from the website + that you actually enjoyed the video, haha.
My first viewing of one of your videos -- and I enjoyed and learned from it. As an estadounidense, I'm "used" to hearing and understanding the king's (British) English, but, I have to tell you, honestly, it is grating to hear that heavy accent applied to Spanish. We gringos expect latinos to properly pronounce English words (although it is MUCH harder for them). We should strive to not only speak Spanish fluidly but also to approximate the sonido del espanol.
Hey 😊 Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, we really appreciate the feedback. Yeah, I´m actively working to improve my accent (and will probably document my journey here). Erika is obviously the native speaker + I’m a student of the language and strive to improve every day. Anyway, thanks again for the feedback, it’s helpful and extremely motivating. I do hope the accent issue hasn’t put you off too much and that you visit our channel again soon 😊
@@spanishunraveled Eres un buen huevo to accept my criticism in such a positive way! Good on ya, mate! When I was in high school (hace decadas), my Spanish profesor told me that my pronunciation was terrible. I vowed then that, even if I might never be fluid, I would at least take command of pronunciation. I DO get (sincere, I believe) compliments these days from native speakers on my pronunciation; however, I'm still frustrated with how I sound in recordings. The challenge for many of us hablantes no nativos is that so much of our brain power goes toward making sense when we speak Spanish that pronunciation lags. Well, gracias por tu respuesta, and I certainly will watch more of your videos! Suerte con tu practica!
Hey! Yeah, I think in Spain "cómo ves" literally means "how do you see"; the 'what do you reckon" version is a Mexican colloquialism! So glad you enjoyed the video ☺
My Tica wife (pictured) uses, "Cómo amaneció?" I guess it's formal with the Ud. dropped off. Since she always uses it in the morning upon awaken, I eventually figured out she was asking how I slept. Chunche (Ticoism = thing when you can't remember what to call it.) Mae = dude Chuzma = a low life, bad person.
Hey Jim! Yeah, I've heard "chunche" before (although in Mexico they tend to say "el deste" or "la desta") and "la chusma" is used too! We'd say "wey" instead of "mae" though. All very interesting; we wanna visit Costa Rica soon so good to know some of the local slang 😊

Muchas gracias por vernos y por tus palabras lindas. Un abrazo desde México 🤗
Great lesson guys. The skits are cool and the in depth explicación of the grammatical part of the phrases is super appreciated. Keep it up✊🏾
Yay, thanks so much for the feedback! It's very much appreciated 🤗😄

Is the sentence, "Pasame esa madre," the equivalent of "Pass me that mother(f-----)"? Or is "madre" used just as a generic "thing"? Gracias
Great phrases…
Thanks so much, Antonio! Yeah, it took us ages to pick them 😄

Que descanses: can also mean "may you have a relaxing time"? For example, a synonym of "relájate un poco"?.... Or only used to mean "sleep well" ?
No, it's not used like "relájate un poco"... at least not in Mexico. You'll hear it A LOT as a synonym of "sleep well" though. Hope that helps :)
@@spanishunraveled thank you. I'm glad you're telling me this: now I'll stop using it to mean "relax a bit".
Entertaining. Como ves could also mean "how do you see it?"

La neta? Translation, please.
Hey :) "La neta" means "the truth" or "honestly" depending on context... it's a very common Mexican slang term. Thanks for watching!
@@spanishunraveled Thanks. I've heard this phrase but didn't know its meaning. Now I do.
