Lived there from 2010 to 2023 and the max I ever paid was $1600 for a one bedroom in the last 5 years. My other rents were around $500-$800 per month renting rooms in different. apartments. It's so difficult for regular young people moving there now that aren't funded by their parents. Of course you can always make it work and NYC is worth experiencing but my memories of being in my 20's there involved being out all night several times per week parting and I can't imagine how I could have had that experience now with how expensive it just to pay rent. So for this I am very grateful to have experienced it then and not now.
My very first time moving in with a roommate I got lucky in a 2 Bedroom apartment flexed to 3 bedroom in the east village my portion of the rent was only 1050 dollars per month so 2100 total. this was with 1 other guy we used the 3rd room as storage/ guest room in 2021 3 years later I checked The rent is now 5000 for that place. Sure it got a facelift since I lived there but its still not worth more than double the increase in 3 years. This was on 3rd ave btw prime spot near union square not some far east apartment. Landlords are getting very greedy and the moment a tenant moves out the price goes up HUNDREDS of dollars. My current apartment I moved into I pay 3k for a 1 bedroom on streeteasy i found out my neighbor is paying 3500 for the exact same layout as my apartment.
I grew up in Brooklyn when rent was 50 dollars a month. I also owned a four family there and my tenants paid 170 a month. I can't believe today's prices. Greed has taken over every aspect of our world. At least the safe, family atmosphere is still there.
Rent prices have gotten out of control. House prices are ridiculous. Greed is out of control. Most of us just can't afford to live there anymore. I agree with you.
Loved you as soon as you said no outdoor shoes inside the house, London made me a no shoes indoors person when my son started to crawl and today he's 17 and we still don't wear outside shoes indoors... sorry I'm going on but I'm passionate about it especially when people have kids crawling and chewing on whatever they pick up from the floor 😊. Beautiful set up,I love how every step is well thought out and functional to your needs.
Really awesome and cozy apartment and super professional looking video! one thing though, i'd recommend maybe cutting out the part where you show the front of the house/street. there are a lot of crazy people out there on the internet and showing streets or even window views has previously lead to scary stuff happening to interior design influencers and other people on social media.
I was born in Brooklyn back in 1950. Lived on President St. between 4th. & 5th. Ave. In 1955 we moved to 6th. Ave. Between 19th. & 20th. Lived in Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst and finally moved to Saratoga Springs NY. Had two homes in Saratoga and last July sold one to my daughter and her husband. It’s over 1,816 sq. Ft. We lived there for 23 years. My wife and I moved back to our first home here in Saratoga. My son house is only 4 houses away from us and my daughter is only 2.5 miles away. We all have 2 car garages and plenty of room. I miss Brooklyn but it’s not what Brooklyn used to be when I was growing up there. My wife and I moved out in 1995. Good video!
I had a summer sublet in Park Slope in 2009. $1000 got me a shared kitchen on the second floor of a brownstone (and the smells of whatever the other tenant was cooking at a given time.) I was fortunate to have my bathroom connected to the bedroom; the other person's bathroom was down the hall, so she had to leave her main area to go to the bathroom. We could go on the rooftop, but we didn't seem to have courtyard privileges. It was still a great experience in a neighborhood I constantly visit.
This just popped up in my feed- what a terrific apartment! Thats a LOT of bang for your buck!! I stayed in Park Slope in 2018 to visit an exhibit at The Brooklyn Museum and it was said then that the neighborhood was trending up. Have you seen prices skyrocket?
california this would be 3500, that amount of space is insane for a 1 bedroom and thats what they charge here, you're lucky. To note also in California it wouldn't even be updated appliances, its a beat up apt for that much. they dont update anything here
Top floors are underrated for "we get to keep what we want outside the apartment". This is indeed lovely a plus. Lots of storage too that is amazing and is rare in NYC apartments. Curious what is the mic that you use?
For NYC standards you got a great crib..coming from a former new yorker...and Brooklyn resident..good luck🙏🏾💭🤞🏾even the rent is good considering you're in NYC😉
Not in NYC..park slope is a beautiful neighborhood and those young kids with two NYC income can easily earn $200k or $300k together in their 20s working in finance, higher Ed, tech and creative fields like advertising, media and fashion.
@@ruby055 easily is an exaggeration. I lived in NYC for 5 years, just left. Most people in their 20's aren't making 100-150k . Maybe people in their late 30s and up but not 20s. Most people in their 20s are in the 45- 80k range and most have roommates
That’s too much money. That was one of my reasons for leaving NY. I used to love living in NY. My last visit was in 2011. I had some money so I stayed at the Ambassador Hotel in Times Square. I couldn’t wait to get out of the hotel so I could enjoy NY as before. The first surprise I received was when we were literally kicked out of 42 Street, because everything was shutting down at 11pm. I remember when we used to hangout day and night on 42nd. Back then the movies were under $1 before 12pm and you could stay the entire day if you wanted to. The famous shooting gallery in 42 Street was gone. It was sad to see. 1:10 I then visited other favorite places where I frequently went to hangout and shop. Crossing the bridge to Manhattan from Brooklyn were hundreds of street vendors when I was living in NY. On this visit, there were none. All the street vendors were driven out by the city of NY. I’m not going to bore you any longer, but all the places I used to live in NY were either gone completely, or were made different. For me, they were uglier. There were some things still there, but the love for NY completely faded. Especially after seeing what all these lawmakers have done to it. I would definitely stay away from NY, California, Illinois, and Detroit. However, if you like living in NY or anywhere else; then stay there and continue to be happy. I honestly wish you the very best. But whatever you do, try your best to seek GOD’s love and his promise of salvation and eternal life, in HIS SON JESUS. FOR TIME IS RUNNING OUT QUICKLY. GOD BLESS YOU.
2950!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how the heck does anyone live decently in NYC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????????????? anyone ever get to retire ?????????????????????????????
It’s funny and seems New York to forget to mention to outsiders there’s no large stairway by which I mean normal sized no elevator probably no washer dryer bc New Yorkers just know that barely happens. The closet looks like a former Murphy closet. It’s a nice apartment I just think it’s funny to not explicitly say no normal stairway no elevator no washer dryer.
No washer and dryer and no elevator. Too much money for a one bedroom apt. Maybe because it's a private house and they want people who have good paying jobs only to rent the apt
People don’t live in NYC to stay home all the time-the cost also reflects location and access to some of the most incredible food, culture, and professional opportunities in the world🤩 Brokers are still crooks though lol
We recently sold our 2,900 square foot home on 1 acre in North Carolina and we were paying 910.00 a month for the mortgage payment and I thought that was expensive...
I love North Carolina, it’s so peaceful and quiet and so much cheaper compared to New York. A house with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths in NC is less then $2,000 a month… I definitely prefer NC over Nyc any day.

Very good value for expensive Park Slope. The Bedroom is double the average size in a NYC apartment. A washer/dryer would be a plus for sure.
W/D would be the dream! Can’t have it all - this was the compromise

Loved the shorter length of this video. When i had an apartment without laundry, i ordered a portable one from amazon. Best purchase ever.

Great space! Super cozy. The skylight is something I never knew I would want in a bathroom
Tons of storage. But that fridge looks like a normal size... not small at all.
Just thinking that 🤔
Looks about 3/4 as wide as a normal fridge
Never move! You will never find that much space/storage in that area for that price!
That is the plan!

This is absolutely great price point for this space and location ❤ 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Super cute apartment. Love the high ceiling
GORGEOUS apartment!! Love all of the light....... really lovely.... : ) : )

great size! quite beautiful actually!
Wonderful video, alot of space. A few plants would look nice, especially in bathroom with the skylight.
The video I’ve been waiting for!!
Almost $3,000 for a 1-bedroom, crazy.

Beautiful place. Very spacious
I liked it, it was a good deal. I hope it is close to the metro.
Is that a small fireplace in the kitchen?

Good point - very narrow staircase! It was a challenge finding a couch that’d fit

Very expensive for a one bedroom apt.
It’s not for some new buildings in major cities. Here in San Diego, this could be more expensive

Yeah but then you have to live in North Carolina! No offense, but this is New York City, baby! This is an awesome apartment.

great size place for 3rd floor $3K.ouch but it keeps you in shape
What speakers are those in the living room? They are pretty. Ty!
Focal Chora 806s
This is nice!!
How did you find such a great place? Just curious!
StreetEasy, willingness to fight for it (it’s NY), and a whole lot of luck
Ceilings so high for third floor ❤
Nice apartment!
I'm not up to date on my NYC apartment pricing, but 3K seems pretty cheap for what you have. Hopefully the landlord doesn't raise the rent soon!
@@spicynomad Thanks for the insight!
Beautiful apartment,,,,,,😊
thank you :)
Amazing😊
you better never move lmao
Nice apartment. However, correct grammar is “we have,” not “we got.”
THE correct grammar is what YOU should of said so do not correct people if you can not write proper grammar yourself
Should HAVE said - not "of"
Cute from Atlanta Ga ❤
The microwave seems too high up.
Is that a legal apartment? It looks like an attic.
Be quiet! You know damn well that's not an attic apartment.
👀Is that a functioning wood burning fireplace?
Once upon a time, I believe!
What jobs do you do to afford a flat like this
I’m a PhD student and Isabella is currently a nanny.
Thinking of making day in the life vids!

What do you do to afford this rental price or are these folks trust fund kids?
