I love your videos! I’m a watercolourist taking tentative steps into mixed media. After following a tutorial in an old Leisure Painter magazine I’m now working on an expressionist landscape using brilliant high flow acrylics for background and then building up the scene with coloured pencils. The fluid acrylics create really interesting light effects and the pencils mean you can mute their tones and add details. Am just loving the process! Thanks again for all your inspiring videos ♥️
This was so interesting! I hardly ever use my Pitt pens, I’ve never liked how dry they feel when you’re working with them. I’m going to get them out again and have a play! Thanks for the inspiration! x
I hope that this helps, they behave quite differently depending on the paper too... and if you like mixed media they can reactivate / blend with neocolour 2s though I don't do it too often. Enjoy ! xx
These Pitt pens are one of my favourite ever art supplies. I love the colour and the way the India ink kind of pools a little when you make a mark. Wish they’d bring more colours into the duel ones from the small brush ones.
Again you have wet my artistic taste! Fabre CastelePitt Pen set,Artist Duel Marker Full Set! I love what you do, teach, and share! I will get a set soon. Best tip ever, always lay flat, I’m one of the pens in a large cup person!🤪Im about to go to my room and fix that! Thanks always for sharing your wisdom, Karen Dirmish, learner 30:29
It is interesting that the barrels are a little different to the actual colours. One thing I have been able to trust pretty well with my Faber Castel pencils was that they matched so well, unlike many other brands, so I just assumed FC put that extra bit of effort in with their products. These colours are so beautiful.
I love your videos and watched this one to the end. I love mixed media, mostly because I am still trying to figure out what I like the most. I thought it was alcohol markers, but I am really loving watercolor, neocolor 2, acrylic pens and watercolor pencils. I also like using prismacolors on top of my watercolors.
The thinner pitt pens are amazing. I would recommend more their B line than their SB (SB is extremely soft and not super easy to control). The color range is beautiful, the ink is archival so it’s a nice complement to tombow markers. My only gripe is that you need to be careful when using them or they will fray. Another advantage is that the colors are meant to match other FC product lines, which makes working in mixed media easily (e.g. matching with polychromos and albrecht durer).
Thanks for sharing! I've been curious about these, as I love so many Faber Castell products. Oh, and YES that feeling when you try art supplies for half price! Thanks for the flip through of your beautiful sketchbook. 💗
Thank you for the video! I have the older version of Pitt markers. I found out that when they dry a little, you can gently use tweezers to take the tip out, wet them with some water and get some more use out of them. Also, at least in the older version, the brush tip is actually double sided and can be inserted into the marker the other way around for a new brush! I wonder in these double ended ones are similar. I love them, and the only problem they have is the brush fraying quite easily. It would be interesting to compare them.
I only have a couple of artist Pitt pens and I believe they're just the detail size. Now I'm going to have to find this particular version of them and buy the colors that I will use all of the time because there is no way that I can afford a full set sadly. On top of that I'm very conscious of using light fast colors so that I can use them in my professional work. You have really inspired me to play a little more with mixed media so far the only things that I mix are watercolor and pencil. Thank you so much for this video and the information and inspiration. I love seeing your sketchbook work it is so inspiring and so beautiful.❤
Ooh, these look fun! I work in mixed media, but I'm not very good at it. My favorite supplies at the moment are Neocolor I and II and the Faber-Castell Albrecht-Dürer watercolor markers.
Sometimes I use mixed media: watercolor and soft pastels. Once I’ve finished a painting but I want to slightly lighten or darken an area, and I don’t want to risk reactivating an area with water, or I can’t be bothered to take my time anymore, I will use Pan Pastels or scrape some pigment from my soft pastels and then use the powdered pigment on the painting. It’s all pigment isn’t it! 😊
I use mixed media sometimes. watercolor, gouache, watercolor pens, watercolor pencils, color pencils... It was nice to see how you use your Pitt pens! Maya
Hi 👋 Yes I like mixed media in my sketchbooks: watercolor, gouache, neo2 & ink. These Pitt Pens look fun. I only seen the thin ones not the duel ended ones. Thx 4 the video 🥰
Nice review, thank you! I'm torn between these and the Albrecht Dürer Watercolour Marker. I love mixed media and am currently using watercolour pencils, oil pastels, acrylic ink and ink pen.
I have the Albrech Dürer markers and, although they look very similar, they perform in a very different way than ink pens and watercolor pencils. It took me a learning process until I was able to control them, but now I enjoy using these markers and really love them. I make drawings, not lettering, so I find watercolor markers more useful for me than the ink ones. I have several Pitt Artist Pen in black, sepia, sanguine, grey and white, which are the colors (especially the black) that I use for mix media. I’m considering buying a few more of these classic pens in basic colors, better than spending a lot of money in the Dual Marker set (although I’d like to can afford them!😅).
This was such a great and informative video 🎉. These are the only marker that I have been interested in purchasing so I checked and was able to purchase a set of 48 for only $80 on Amazon 👍 . They are in a nice cardboard box that you can lay on its side and be able to see the colors. Fantastic!!! No extra pens but I can always purchase those later on. Thanks 🙏 for sharing your experience and knowledge ❤
Thank you so much for watching and your kind words Diana! I am so glad that you enjoyed the video. The dual markers (these brushes) only have 30 colours - so I'd double check the 48 set or check the link in my description as it may be the smaller pens or the old single sided set. You are more than welcome. I hope that you enjoy them and that your art journey continues to flourish x x
@@SketchesnScrubs it turns out that it was the set of just the brush markers which I really like so I’m keeping them. Lord knows I have enough pens lol 😂
Hi Sketches 👏🏾 i do enjoy watercolour markers, i have a few, i like them more than alcohol even though the alcohol has its uses. I never tried the Pitt such a good range of colours. I love your art style. My go to combos are watercolour with coloured pencils and watercolour pencils. Thank you for sharing ❤
great video and much appreciated as someone who experienced the accidental vertical pen dry side/saturated side phenomena. love the way you use these markers. I am excited to use the Pitt Pens Dual more; maybe you can try and compare a few of the Albrecht Durer markers in the colors you are currently using the Pitt for backgrounds :). Answer to the question: Watercolor/Gouache/Pen/Neocolor...and now maybe... marker and pencil?
Ooh I didn't know that they don't react! For some reason I kept thinking that they were water based markers 😅 I definitely will pick some to try out myself 😊
Thank you Julie! I use these more than alcohol markers because they don’t go through to the other side of the page. That being said, alcohol markers have a wider range of colours and blend better xx
amazing supplies. i love using them too! i am not set on the perfect base for these though. but i love the finished look in this sketchbook. which one are you using?
No worries, Is a good question. For clarification, I used 3 sketchbooks : Royal Talens - creamy sketchbook paper Khadi Fatbook - white textured watercolour paper , 100% cotton , swatches Seawhite of Brighton sketchbook (that has the majority of the artwork featured) - white watercolour sketchbook , cellulose paper Hope this helps x
Faber Castell has a very nice product range overall and these markers themselves are very beautiful. I've seen some marker art and overall the people that did the artwork got very good results, they tend to perform very well for people that know how to use them. Thank you for review, pretty hair lady 😊😊

You can also scribble with them on a nonporous surface and pick them up with an aquabrush and sketch that way, if you want no lines whatsoever.
Thank you! That’s a great suggestion x
