      @@morsecode980 Perhaps. However, it would probably not be anywhere near the same scale. France simply didn't have the population to go on its own. Even if a Nazi France rose, it is unlikely it would be imperial Germany. Plus I doubt Britain would like France trying to reform Napoleon, despite their humiliation by the Germans. Remember the history of France and Britain is basically fueled hatred. But even if Britain stays out, Germany could take on France. And without it falling, world war II would be much less bloody.

      @AlienFirefox You really think that Germany would just go on some world conquest after they won the war? Against a very valuable ally no less? The British and French were exhausted after the war, it strained their economies and was not popular to the public due to the amount of casualties it caused. The same thing would happen in Germany, except there would be no hate fueled nationalistic revival like we saw in our timeline due to Hitler, and the hate towards the British and French not being there. If Germany could just go on some world conquest after they won, as you say. Then why didn't Britain or France conquer the world? It would be no different except Britain and France would switch roles with Germany.
      Also, when you say "If it wasn't for the soviet union, the Germans would have won." are you talking about ww1 or ww2? If you're talking about ww1, then you are mistaken. The Bolshevik revolution started when Germany let Lenin go back into Russia to destabilize the Russian Empire. But if Germany saw the Bolsheviks as a threat, after winning the war in the west, they would most likely have helped the whites and the other various independence movements against the Bolsheviks. But it is not certain they would win. The Bolsheviks played a very minor role in the war, they only destabilized the east. There was no conflict between Germany and the Bolsheviks.
      Lastly, it is not like if they won the war the countries they defeated would have simply given up. Similar things most likely would've happened in Britain and France as they did in Germany in our timeline. Hate towards the Germans would be at an all time high, and you would have people just like Hitler promising their former "rightful" land, and more. Later causing ww2.
      As a side note, please explain how Germany would have invaded America, with their economy in disarray and the people not wanting another costly war, it would have been impossible (at least during the 20s 30s and 40s) to successfully invade America.

    Interesting synopsis and totally agree with the "what if had America joined in w/Germany instead of Great Britain". I have heard it said many times by the Old US Veteran Doughboys after returning that they had rather had been fighting w/ Germany than the Arrogant Brits. Also this vid is dealing w/a WW-1 scenario, Nazi-ism would have never been born if it hadn't been induced by the Treaty at Versailles, a "Witch hunt" aimed at nothing less than a genocide being perpetrated on an already starving German population while forcing a humiliating subjugation along with the loss of a great deal of German lands. The German peoples had not much choice but fall prey to any radical Idealism, post WW-1, that would keep German families from dropping dead in the streets from starvation. As an American I hate to say it but I believe Woodrow Wilson Made the wrong call on this one ! One other side to this is that pending a German-US victory outcome of WW-1 , Germany and the US could have easily taken the already unsettled USSR by simultaneously blitzkrieg attacking from both Eastern and Western Soviet fronts probably within a matter of weeks if not days, rendering the world 4-ever free of a Russian Super-power threat .

      Great points! If Germany left the war in a strong position, and held the Baltic states as a buffer against the USSR, many of the subsequent problems would have been avoided. No need for WWII, no need for the atomic or nuclear bombs, no Korean War, etc. History would have been totally different. I would hope that the USA and Canada come to a peaceful resolution and sort of reset relations, similar to what we have now. Canada is essentially independent of the UK today, so it could be back to normal in time. We would still have to deal with the problem of colonialization, as subjugation of people would still be a black mark on humanity.

      The video is not incorrect. If a few things had gone differently, America would have either stayed out of the war or joined with Central Powers. If USA stays out of the war, the Entente could have still won, I think. But if USA joins the Central Powers, there is no way the Entente could have won. USA would have militarized even faster than they actually did in real life and with us going straight after Canada, that takes a hell of a lot of pressure off of Germany, especially with Russia leaving the war and with Italy utterly incompetent at beating even the Austrians in the south. USA joining not only takes Canadians out of the Western front, but it also takes ANZAC forces out of the Mesopotamian front. So the Entente also lose some advantage to the Ottomans. The Entente can't win a war that was this close if it's losing every advantage that helped it win the war.

      Sav Sal But think about the Entente shipments! They completely depended on their allies like Brazil, the US, Siam, Thailand, Cuba, the Philippines and the Central American nations to help them with workers, ammunition and other supplies. Nations which joined the war only because the German unrestricted submarine warfare. Without it and with America being part of the Central powers those nations obviously wouldn’t have joined the war on the side of the Entente. Heck for all we now countries like China, Siam and Ethiopia have more interest in joining the Central powers. Also even their vast amounts of troops the Entente sometimes had shortages of men on the western front. The amount of men that would need to be send to Canada to guard it would only worsen that. Those gaps would need to be filled with more troops from Britain itself or the colonies. Australia and Japan atleast at the start would have there hands full with the Philippines and Africa itself wasn’t really a reliable source of manpower. There were constant revolts from the natives during the war for both sides. Only India is left, but it is to far away for troops to arrive immediately. So there is a gap in time during which the western front would probably be a lot weaker than in our timeline. A perfect opportunity for the Germans to strike. This is all assuming that the American entry in the war is a surprise. With Russia just dropping out of the war I can’t see the Entente winning this. There probably is no allied intervention in the Russian civil war since the shortages of both men and resources, meaning a quicker Bolshevik victory? But what if Germany interfered? This like Kaiserreich but it is a lot worse for the Entente if they don’t sign a in armistice like in the video.

    • @savsal2603
      @savsal2603 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yes i agree with your analysis. The combined entent navy still could force the US navy to stay in a situation similar to the german navy in WW1. Even then, the sheer number of men the Entente would need, shows that the Central Powers are the winners. Submarine convoy hunting would make things even worse. Japan only joined the Entente because they were opportunists. They were a lot more sympathetic to Germany prior to WW1 and seeing the US close to joining the war might even turn them neutral or to go to the Central Powers' side. the Qing would want to ally germany, but the situation in CHina was way too unpredictable so I doubt they would do that, or if they would be able to have an impact. About the Russian Civil War, people always seem to forget that the Soviets respected the treaty of brest litovsk and germany would be foolish to attack again the side that rose promising the people peace with them. Long term they might be enemies, but short term the Soviets were of no threat and would be more willing to stay peaceful than their adverseries in the Civil war. Even if thats not enough, the Great War devastated german so I doubt they would, depsite all that ive said till now, choose to intervene.

      Really? You forget to mention with the shipments to the Entente that the US army relied completely and utterly on Britain and France for ALL of its heavy equipment.
      The Machineguns were British or French, the Aircraft were British or French, the artillery was British or French, the Tanks were French....
      Even WITH that it still took until mid 1918 before a significant number of US troops entered the front lines. When the US joined the war in 1917 its army basically did not exist. It was miniscule, it had very few machineguns, it had few aircraft and all were obsolete, it had a shortage of artillery and the majority of what it had was obsolete, it had inadequate training, inadequate equipment, and a rapid buildup in Forces would have (indeed did) made those issues worse.
      As for the ammunition, I dont know where you got *that* from, by 1917 Britain was making more than enough ammunition to supply its armies at home, it needed none from the US. In 1914 - mid 1916 yes, but by 1917? No. Most of the food came from the Empire, France relied on the US manufacturing more than Britain did, but even France managed the majority of its manufacturing at home. All of its aircraft were built in France for example, and France built as many aircraft during WWI as the rest of the combatants combined. While there were supplies that came from the US losing the US would not have been a crippling blow to the Entantes ability to manufacture weaponry.
      It would, however, have been a crippling blow to the US's ability to mobilise a large enough army quickly enough to have made a difference. The Central Powers were NOT capable of supplying the vast amount of guns, tanks, aircraft and machineguns the US army needed to mobilise quickly, and US industry was NOT set up to manufacture those items themselves, even if it had the designs available. Only in small arms, rifles, did the US have the capacity to arm its troops, and even then they used a British rifle rechambered for 30-06 (the P 14).
      it would have taken years for the manufacturing to be in place for the US to have made a telling contribution outside the Continental US. Years germany did not have.

      Ottomans being an ally of Germany during WW1 was the equivelent of the russians being an ally of America in ww2. They did not like each other. Only worked together for their own means.

    • @Stoss_
      @Stoss_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      And who doesn't work for their own means? Lol.
      Ottomans allied Germany because a strong ally could help them to retake their lands that are occupied for 100 years by Russia, Britain and Italy. They had the common enemies and there was no reason not to ally. So, why wouldn't Ottomans take back Caucasus and instead Germany takes it? That's pointless as fuck...

    Some minor critiques of the final peace treaty:
    Historic planes of Germany involved making Belgium a vassal state (and giving it some French territory if I remember correctly)
    Finland and Polend wouldn't have been vassalised. Also Germany wanted more Colonies in South Africa (basically all of Sub-Saharian Africa)
    Austria-Hungary knew that there were to many minorities in their Balkan territories and that those would cause even more instability. They probably wouldn't have annexed all of Serbia and Albania, but instead took Venetia from Italy.
    I also doubt that the USA would gain the whole of Canada. They simply didn't participate that much in the war (in terms of actual fighting, they surely had the potential to do so, but they entered to late)
    Also what about Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire. Both didn't do much, but you can't just ignore them.

    • @lightzpy8049

      Fascism main ideology is mainly Socialism which is linked to communist.
      Fascism’s true began as a left-wing ideology rooted in socialism.
      Everyone knows the ideological founders of capitalism and communism: Adam Smith and Karl Marx respectively.
      Who is the philosopher of fascism? Most people don’t know, not because he doesn’t exist, but because historians, who are mostly on the left, have chosen instead to “erase him from history to avoid confronting fascism’s actual beliefs. The father of fascism is a man named Giovanni Gentile. Gentile considered fascism to be the most workable form of socialism. “Fascism mobilizes people by appealing to their national identity as well as their class. Fascists are socialists with a national identity. Gentile also believed all private action should be oriented to serve society, with no distinction between private interest and public interest. He considered the state to be the administrative arm of society, so society and all its members were to submit to the state in everything. Italian fascist dictator, Benito Mussolini, simply paraphrased Gentile when he wrote in his Dottrina del Fascismo, one of the doctrinal statements of early fascism, “All is in the state and nothing human exists or has value outside the state. Just like Gentile, Democratic progressives champion a centralized state, which explains the recent expansion of state control in the private sectors of healthcare, banking, education and energy. “Leftists can’t acknowledge their man, Gentile, because that would undermine their attempt to bind conservatism to fascism. Conservatives support small government in order to empower individual liberties, but the left wants the resources of individuals and industries to service the state.
      “To acknowledge Gentile is to acknowledge that fascism bears a deep kinship to the ideology of today’s left. So, they will keep Gentile where they’ve got him: dead, buried, and forgotten.”
      So the left is linked to socialist communist and fascism ideologies that then turned into nazism.

    Keep in mind that during this time period multiple british vassal's were very unhappy with being under english control, South Africa and India likely would have revolted soon after it became clear that the war had shifted to the favor of the Central Powers, Seeing as the Boer War in South Africa was only a number of years earlier, South Africa also has a good amount of German influence so they likely would have joined Germany which would have made the African Front even easier, likewise with India, they were not happy with the state of affairs in the country and likely would have declared independence.
    One extra note, the USA would be dumb to not focus on taking Alberta first in Canada, it is one of the few provinces with a large abundance of oil which would have helped Germany, Also Alberta is one of (If not the most) wealthy province in Canada. Taking it would easily cripple Canada.

      actually surprisingly enough it was not the US that was the breadbasket of the entente. It was Argentina. As it turns out they were actually ranked at the same place in power at the time before ww1 ended and they couldn't sell as much.

    The USA could overrun Canada easily. With the US joining the war, France and Britain would need every soldier to stabilize the front in France. This would make the Vardar-Offensive impossible. Bulgaria would stay in the war and so would the Ottomans. Even if the French wouldn't capitulate, Italy would, meaning a two-front war for France.
    The peace treaty for France would be based on the "Septemberprogramm". GB wouldn't really loose anything. Italy would probably give Venice as puppet to A-H and Libya as puppet to the Ottomans. A-H would annex Montenegro and take North-West-Serbia as puppet, the rest would be annexed by Bulgaria. The latter would also annex Thessalonki. The Dodecane-islands and Crete would go to the Ottomans. Brest-Litowsk and Budapest comfirmed.
    A-H would survive as Danube Federation and the Ottomans would also survive thanks to Atatürk. France, Britain and the UdSSR would ally later to take down the CP. This would start the WW2 of this TL.

    The U.S would have a serious problem. They didn't have troops in 1917. And the allies could have attacked the U.S. The U.S. had ships. But they didn't have trained troops to fight hundreds of thousands of vets. But the allies would have a problem as well losing all that U.S. supplies they where getting. Which would make them desperate and the East Coast would be a battle field. Only good thing is maybe Germany would have had the balls to actually use their damn dreads to fight in more then one sea battle. And I doubt many trench stalemates are happening in Canada People would freeze to death come mid winter. Nor do I see fronts changing much. Not many roads built and snow would be Heavy. I also have a problem with Canada becoming like purteo rico. All that wood and resources ripe for the taking. They would be made a state and those resources would all be the U.S.

    • @SpazzAttack78
      @SpazzAttack78 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. But I think that the US wouldn't declare war against Canada until they had troops. The US would probably stop sending supplies and start mobilizing troops. This would warn the Entente and they may build trenches and improve in fracture around strategic positions. Kinda depends if Britain bring more Canadian troops to Europe or send them all back home.

  • @ADrunkBassist
    @ADrunkBassist 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Well first of all, this is one where I think you're finally right for the most part. The main thing you got wrong was that there was no way Germany was going to let Russia off so easily. At the time of the war, Russia would have been ready militarily to defeat Germany within 10 years. Germany needed to beat down Russia in that war, so there's no way the peace terms would have been so modest. The only other major thing is there is absolutely no way the US should have fought with the Axis in WW2. I can see the reasoning where maybe we should have been on their side in WW1, but no way in hell for WW2.

  • @transgwender
    @transgwender 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Great video (ignoring the last part) but I don’t think some of the stuff afterwards would happen, mainly with Canada. Newfoundland was extremely pro British, having still been a independent country. I would see them remaining one, unless they ended up being forcefully taken. Second, I would think many other parts of Canada other than the maritimes would become states. Having most of Canada being territory would just make it more likely for anti-American sentiment to go, having gone from an independent-ish country to having no power. I would think the USA would try to make more states, BC, Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba. Best bet if they didn’t want a future rebellion would be to give the provinces statehood. But just the idea of US invading Canada seems a bit stretched. US-Canada relations were at a good point during that period, with new trade agreements, and while there were disputes with boarder, there was no government desires for annexation at the time. I would say that them invading Canada would only be if a conflict broke out between the two, which might have happened, but seeing that your premise involves US’ trade, and that leading to conflict, I could see them still try to be on trading terms with Canada. I also wouldn’t discount the ingenuity of Canadians in the war. They won many battles that every other army lost. I can see a huge fight being put up, eventually resulting in a stalemate that would only end after a treaty. I think this is likely as like you said, the Americans weren’t prepared for war, Canada was already, and while the Americans had more numbers, the Canadian soldiers were hardened, and could put up a fight, especially since they had just implemented conscription that year. They would have had brand new soldiers and the experienced old ones, and to top it off, they had American weaponry, as during the war, Canada was buying from America, since America wanted to trade. So because of having fresh new troops, old experienced ones, and technology from America, unless in this alternate history world USA hadn’t traded with Canada or had as good relations, I don’t see them 1. Invading Canada, and 2. If they do, being able to take much territory for much of the battle, and the Canadians holding till a treaty was made, and 3. If it does goes as you said, I would see all the provinces become states and Newfoundland and Quebec remaining independent.
