    I have been on meds for about 10 years, and I have always taken the weekend and some other appropriate times off (vacation, etc) because it helps to not build as much of a tolerance. I have had to increase my dosage over time, but only by 5 mg.

    I take my meds every single day of the week, weekend, vacation, holidays, Greek gladiator battles, etc.
    I don’t like how my brain feels when I don’t take meds.

    I have a bad habit of working after hours and on those days I take another pill. Doing so, I have to not take them during the weekends to not run out before the end of the month. Sometimes it does affect me in having a lack of energy. At the same time, I think it’s good so I can rest my mind as well. Thank
    You for sharing this information.

      Thanks for posting. My might talk to your physician. Some will prescribe a fast acting booster for occasions you need to work or study late. Thanks for posting.

    If I’ve been on concerta and ritalin everyday for about 18 months, concerta dosage from 18mg to 36mg and still feel the efficacy is falling off. However still don’t want to come off of them completely, would switching to a stimulant based from amphetamines (like vyvanse as adderall isn’t available in Australia) from methylphenidate temporarily help lower my tolerance to the concerta after a couple of months?

      From my understanding it could however, I'm not a physician this is really more of a question for them.

    If we work on the things we are passionate about, to the stage that we can’t stop working, are medication not needed in this case?

    • @AttentionTalkVideo
      @AttentionTalkVideo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends... in short taking meds is about quality of life. That said, if you only work on things you are passionate about and neglect other things (like maybe personal hygiene) that could have a long term negative impact you might keep taking the meds to do the other things in life.

    vyvanse 30mg holidays are an elevator to fatigued, depressed unmotivated hell. those days I can only sleep for 15+hours and cry. ive had 3 weekends of this, as ive only been on vyvanse for about a month.

      Your experience is a great reason to go talk to your physican. Meds are supposed to imporve quality of life.

      I found this too and think, for me, its partly a rebound and withdrawal but also the contrast is so huge as vyvanse works so well for me. Not so much for the adhd symptoms but the depression I had along with it is 100% resolved by vyvanse so a holiday sure highlights it.

    I find it’s frustrating adhd meds are controlled, i can’t get it shipped to my house and can only get 30 days at the time. which I need to remember to plan for, the trip to pharmacy, can’t leave the state for more than 30 days or I’ll be out of my meds and won’t be able to get them

      Some people take mini med holidays to build a reserve. This only works if you remember to get your meds filled every 30 days.

    I have taken years off my meds. Trying to decide to whether to start taking them again or not.

      Interesting. What would help you make the decision?

    • @MikeLawry1111
      @MikeLawry1111 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AttentionTalkVideo I read a couple of books about adhd. One book said that medication helps, the other said the medication is bad for you. I meant to say on the fence about getting back on it.

      @@MikeLawry1111 Like any medications the decision is a personal one about quality of life. There are potential long term impacts of taking meds. There are also long term impacts of not taking meds (lower performance in work and school, increase likelihood of being in an accident, disabled, divorced, etc.). They impact people differently. I encourage you to get a complete education and based the decision on your experience.
