      OMG!!!!!! I've had coaches, thearpist, parents, and those with ADHD take the program. Coaches and thearpist have really found it helpful. What i have not had but really wanted was a teacher to go through the program... specifically a special ed tearcher. If you choose to take the class i'd be up for giving you a special discount. You can learn more by going to www dot cognitive-ergonomics dot com.

    Thanks for this information. I've come ted before but have only recently been diagnosed and I'm 53. I tried therapy and it was a waste of my time. So, I'm doing my best to manage it on my own. At times it's difficult. Recently my daughter was diagnosed with ADHD😮and I have been trying to figure out what to do next.
    This video offered valuable insight into WHAT ADHD is and how we should approach handling it/managing it differently.

    Accommodating the impairment, (your glasses analogy), makes sense to me. So does working from the inside out. Self Reflection- Awareness-Working with it/Problem Solving. Do I have this right? Congratulations to you.🎉🎉 ** I have moderate /severe ADHD & Panic/Anxiety. Is this for Coaches? Or people like myself this program?

    • @AttentionTalkVideo
      @AttentionTalkVideo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      For the most part you have it right.
      The program is for parents, teachers, coaches, thearpist, coaches and those with or impacted by ADHD.
      All that said, the program IS NOT for everyone. Specifically, the progarm defines things very specifically and removes emotions to make objective observations. Some get this and the program can be amazing. For others it won't work because they can't get past their beliefs or feeling even in the fact of factual observation.
      Here is an example. Many say they are unmotivated. That is not a factual observation. Motivation isn't what you should do it is what you actually do. If you are just sitting on the couch you are doing so because that is what you are motivated to do. Not doing your taxes doesn't mean you are not motivated... it means you are motivated to sit on the couch.
      Why is this important? If you are not doing your taxes and calling yourself names (i'm unmotivated) doesn't solve the problem. If you admit you are more motivated to sit on the couch that is a factual statement... thus the problem is you prefer to sit on the couch. Of course you are responsible for filing your taxes... so how do you solve the probelm (it is about problem solving)? Make filing your taxes easier. The answer to that question depends on the individual (tips tricks and strategies is just guessing). In simple terms out sources it or make it cognitively easier (which often about getting help).
      In the end ADHD is an execuative functioning impairment. From my perspetive behavioral train has limited impact in the face of impairments. Most don't want to need help accomodating the impairment... and that is why they are suck.
      The program can help those who are open minded as it can validate your experience help you get past emotional resistance and OWN your ADHD.
      Thanks for posting.

    I’d love to hear some examples of how this is applied in real life and what the outcomes were.

    • @AttentionTalkVideo
      @AttentionTalkVideo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You have a great question! Giving you the answer is a bit more complicated than you think. The technology enables us to look at ADHD from the inside out if you will. It reveals things the current paradigm doesn’t. Think of it like this. If you believe the world is flat then telling you to sail east to go west is a hard concept to understand. That said, I ‘ll do the best I can.
      Working memory is impaired for those with ADHD is impaired and thus capacity is limited. Given this fact toggling between tabs on a computer or having to toggle and scroll taxes the working memory capacity. Having multiple screens, not forcing people to use a tablet or iPhone as an interface are accommodations. Same reason often those with ADHD need to print things and spread them out.
      Problem solving is the epicenter of the ADHD challenge. Problem solving is multifaceted and ambiguous (have you ever noticed the correlation between uncertainty and avoidance). Often people need accommodations in the form of other people to collaborate with to remove ambiguity.
      The current paradigm address ADHD as a focus issue. It is but that is just a symptom. ADHD is more of a thinking impairment. Impairments need accommodations not behavioral training. Thus, accommodate the thinking process (i.e. for some talking out loud) is an accommodation to make thinking easier and thus there is less of an urge to escape. Put differently, don’t focus on trying hard, focus on making thinking easier.
      Hope that helps a bit.

      @@AttentionTalkVideoyour response did not give examples from real life and what the outcomes were. I think she means examples like the phone call in the video. What was done to help him make a call, and did he make it?

    • @AttentionTalkVideo
      @AttentionTalkVideo  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@brendalg4 ADHD is an execuative functioning impairment and is intangible (the program brings tangibility to the intangible). Many of the accomodations will seem foreign as a result. Again ADHD is an EF impairment. Thinking (not day dreaming, worrying, emoting, judging, learning or formaing a hypotheis are not what i'm talking about) in side your head to solve a problem is impaired. Talking out loud or haveing someone intentionally as you questions like what do you have to do today? What about a task is ambigious or what won't you be able to do today can be more helpful than you think. Also, when you start a task there is something we call the boot up process (like you computer booting up). The process is very effortful (basically getting into the flow). We define it so you can plan it and observe what facilitate you geting into the flow more effeciently.
      Clear as mudd righ.
      Hope that helps.

    • @AttentionTalkVideo
      @AttentionTalkVideo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      the kids are too young. The program could be a major help to you as a means to understand ADHD at a deep level and to help manage yourself. That said, if you took the program i'd reccomend talking to Elaine Taylor-Klause about being parents of complex kids. Cogntive Ergonomics and her sanity school program would put you in the best position to manage an ADHD +++ family.
      Thanks for tuning in.

    • @AttentionTalkVideo
      @AttentionTalkVideo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends. Impulsiveness and binge eating come down to self-awareness and makeing decisions. The program will help you understand the fundementals and you can gain a level of self-awareness but the program doesn't do the self-regulating for you.

      Logging everything I eat, every day for 3 months- the "Visual" - keeps me on track and helped me developed the habit of logging my intake daily. I now use an app to log my daily food intake - but the 3 months of logging it in writing is what helped me. I know that for me, I'm very Visual. Also, a local weight loss classes with a dietician, at a local hospital, was extremely helpful in providing clear, educational information & even help with binge eating, mine was caused by overwhelming emotions/stress) & the personal information related to my daily needs - which prevented me from getting overwhelmed from trying to figure it out for myself. Use your awareness of any challenges you have and try to work with them instead of against them. 💕

      @@irene_f. There is acquiring knowledge and the execuation of knowledge. They are two completely different things. I read a few books on how to play the guitar. When i picked it up i couldn't play it. Your post is evidence you metaphorically picked up the guitar and started putting your hands on the strings. Doing this at first is uncomfortable. Those who are implusive have a hard time sitting in the discomfort of the doing part (picking up the guitar and putting your finges on the strings).
      There a lots of books about what to do (how to play the guitar). The hard part is picking up the guitar and dealing with the doing part.
