1998 Chevy k1500 5.7L I’ve been using the trip for my fuel for years, this is a sign to get it fixed now 😂
every time the last 15 years i have used a fuel additive it only caused problems, i was not going to use again but i have 265 on this truck and so i bought some gumout a brand that haven't tried and same thing happened, more problems. a few days after adding to a full tank as instructions described the fuel gauge stopped working. now the truck is struggling to stay running, I am changing the fuel filter and the pump tomorrow. I am completely convinced that the additive caused this as everything was working great before i poured that stuff in my tank. I will never use any fule additives again.

The fuel level bevels can gum up with varnish over time thus giving false readings. Use 90% alcohol and some Q-Tips and rub each cut in the level sensor strip until shiny. Worked on my 2005 Altima which would not go below half way. Half way was actually empty on my gauge.

Months ago I had the whole module replaced (pump and sending unit). That’s when I started hearing a loud ring that I wrongly assumed was my torque converter until I recently noticed that it does it for a second when I turn the key to the On position without starting the vehicle. That’s because the fuel pump primes the line for a second but that’s also when everything is binging and chiming at me so I didn’t notice. When all the other noises calm down after starting the engine I’d hear it loud and clear, making me think it only happened when the engine was running.
Anyway, it’s a GM (2000 Pontiac Montana) and I really wish I had just replaced the sending unit. I was actually going to bypass the sender with a resistor to make it always read half way until the service guys insisted on replacing the pump in case it was causing my other electrical issues. They actually got 12 gallons of fuel from my 25 gallon tank since I had just filled up before taking it in for a different issue. I did that so I could make sure they knew it was full before they refused to do a test drive like they did after installing a defective coolant level sensor the previous time (claimed it was empty when it wasn’t).
Unfortunately, sticky notes on the dash and a note from the service writer got misinterpreted by the tech as the issue I wanted diagnosed, hence the recommendation to replace the fuel pump. I should’ve stuck to my guns and said “no” since now they have installed TWO defective parts and are refusing to warranty them. I replaced the coolant sensor myself and this one works fine but I also found that theirs had no O-rings, which explains why I had a coolant leak on that side after they worked on it.

Great channel! I have a 2004 titan. It empties out at 1/4 of a tank. In other words, it shows i still have 1/4 while in reality it’s empty
Had an erratic gas gauge for years. Would read full when actually full then go empty and erratic as soon as more than a gallon or 2 was gone. Fueled up every week until the fuel pump went out. When I replaced the pump, the sending unit wasn't even attached to the body of the pump anymore

Do most new fuel pumps come with the floater?
If so and the gas gauge needle doesn’t work then most likely the gas gauge will need replacing as well?

My '14 Ford Explorer gas gage stopped reading correctly almost 3 yrs ago. I've been using the "reset trip" method and never have ran out of gas. I've gotten as close as only having a 1/2 gal left in the tank.

Question I just installed one of your fuel pumps with the key on engine’s off I have accurate fuel reading but as soon as I start the vehicle gas gauge drops to empty any idea why it’s a 2005 Chevy Tahoe z71 with the 5.3
I always reset the Trip A after I fill up, 100-140 miles ( 9-14 gallons used ).

I have a a temperature gauge I start the car stays cold then goes to hot all by itself I replace the coolant sensor 3x that's what it does...and the radiator fan will not click on only on ac and defroster..

how do we check fuel pump with loaded circuit ?
My car is a Australian car made by General Motors Australia, it was sold here as a 2008 Holden Commodoe VE sedan, in the Americas I beliive it was sold as a Pontiac G5 or G6, the fuel guage stopped working and it tries too jump up when I first turn the key then it then settles back to emtpy.
I can clear the error code P2068 that the device reports and suddenly the guage works again but in a short time the error returns.
Two mechanics at different businesses said the problem would be the sender unit which is attached to the fuel pump, so I had a new one fitted.
I paid $530 and the car still has the same problem. If anyonce can suggest what to try next to get the guage to work it would be appreciated.

Been driving my Chevrolet s10 with dead gas gauge for a year . Replaced the pump and still dead sent out my cluster and got a new one and still dead idk what else could it be

First of all noway you can pick up a gas can with one hand like you did.
It's a fuel problem not an instrument panel problem trust me. I replaced the fuel pump cuz it went out completely. And GM don't know how to make cars. They're bad at that. But anyways, It's a gas problem. Trust me it has nothing to do with the gauges. The reason why I know because I replaced the fuel pump. That's a gas problem. Another reason why I know is because my car has trouble starting and it shuts off immediately after I start it and sometimes it doesn't even turn on but when The car does start it smells like gas bad. All this and yet the needle still moves back and forth. And I replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter the same did 10 months ago. All of this has something to do with p0440 and p0171.
