Saw this video on 10th Feb 2023, Slavia came home on 24th feb. Trust me, The drive experience and luxury along with the class of Skoda, you won't get anywhere else. Earlier I used to drive Honda City as a Family car and it's still with us but this pocket rocket along with that classy feeling is something else. Kudos Skoda ❤️

Mahindra bolero ground clearance is 180mm. Now can I say bolero and slavia's ground clearance 179mm is almost same?(practically) now don't tell me dat 1mm difference makes the huge difference in favour of bolero.😂

Will still say the Honda city is the best since the aftersales service and the service cost is much more efficient. The v-tec is still a classic gearbox. No denial that the day are way ahead of the lacking cvt. Anyways the top model of city is 17.. whereas the Germans are in a heavier price bracket. No denial that the Germans are the best driving cars but city is much better when it comes to practicality. Personally I love this segment and I am very happy to see it growing again.
Japanese cars for reliability, German cars for performance. iVtec engine is superior anyday. Something to blame is City's chassis. City petrol manual has both performance and reliability. Mileage range is reasonable at 13-17kmpl. Down sized turbo petrols is yet to prove. Mileage sucks if revved high. Ranges between 8-18kmpl.

Also there is evident road noise inside cabin at above 100 kmph. Slavia is just perfect for highway commutes, but in bumper-to-bumper traffic, it struggles due to turbo lag at lower RPMs.

Honda City has practical features,best resale value, better mileage than German car. Engine is also better but not for driving enthusiast. As per my requirement I will pick Honda City in India..

Driving dynamics of a sedan is pure fun and adrenaline rush. G force on those high speed cornering turns or zig zagging in traffic, amazing … ….these pseudo SUV can never match that.
There is huge differece between the leatherette seats vs honda City leather seats, also it gives you acces without touching any buttons which is very useful and impression creator, all window auto up down, it's 50 60 grand less than both. Seats are way more plush too. The dashboard gets leather inserts and your knee rest too. Just can't beat the premiumness of it
Good review bro ...they have put really good efforts into Virtus ..was highly necessary for VW, after they have not put almost any changes into their Polo for almost 6-7 years now. VW Virtus - hands down.
I like the build of virtus. slavia and Honda are Okay. But if you compare city's 1.5L CVT to 1L AT of slavia/virtus, city is faster to reach 100km/h (just above 10s). VW/skoda takes 12-13s. Plus city gives more mileage (13+ in city and 18-20 on high ways) any day, on any road. For slavia it is 9 in city and 15-16 on highway.
I know rear seat space is bad in Verna but still a worthy car as a Sedan to be in the comparison, all auto reviewers are neglecting Verna as if it does not exist in INDIAN market. Just waiting for 2023 next gen to be back with a bang(hopefully they will finally resolve space issue in the rear seat of Verna). Rachit, how come ground clearance of 165mm almost similar to 179mm, u know 14 mm is more than enough length to show a significant difference in height.

As I own both the 5th gen city and the slavia I could say that the slavia feels better than the city in every sense is a better choice for highway while the city might be a better package from the reliability point of you and lower variants
1.0 or the 1.5 tsi? Obviously the 1.5 tsi is better in highway performance but if you are implying that the 1.0 tsi is better than the Honda 1.5 NA, i have to strongly disagree having driven both
Yes , i am talking about 1.0 l and I completely agree that the city feels punchier and has more power but by highway I mean that it feels packed and safer but I’ll still say the city is better in driving dynamics
The VW Virtus makes 115 BHP in the 1.0 version and not 108 BHp which you have shown in the video and its not the same . The tuning and performance difference is there compared to vento 1.0 litre 108BHp
I know it is difficult to digest that there is a car which finally can overthrow honda city as the king of the segment. I love honda city but have to say Slavia is better as an overall package. With the maintenance packages which skoda provides it also is not heavy on the pocket in terms of maintenance. Overall with any of the 3 cars there isn't a wrong choice. I personally would go with Slavia as an all rounder.
Compare honda city hybrid which has adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, 5 star in Asian ncap, ADAS, 27 km mileage, and powerful engine etc best car in the segment
Honda City is the best all rounder, just look at the timeless and plush interiors. Add to it a reliable engine. That Virtus AC vents in the middle dash are just ugly for such a costly car. Good job in doing a headlight test, not sure why most/all reviewers neglect it.

Issues are listing up like anything, first it was famous EPC, now poor or worst AC quality, break noise, electrical wiring, cabin quality and so on.. Honda City may be not as eye catchy as Skoda/VW but you can simply trust and ride anywhere anytime.. I booked Slavia 2months back to understand what i am heading joined multiple owners group, they are abusing,helpless what else to say.. come on its high time you guys need to speak up, we subscribers are really trust you but leading a death track is horrible.. read. new honda city has unstable body shell. VW MBQA01 platform is unrivalled. Honda can only dream of that quality. in 2022, VW was no 1 in revenue. Toyota No.2 .Ford No,3 globally. Legendary sedan is Corolla. Honda city is considered as a cheap sedan all over the world. Civic is a better option. Audi sedans are also based on this platform and Audis are far superior to Honda. In fact, Honda is nothing but a mass market brand. Their luxury brand acura is a failure. VW luxury brands you know for sure, Bugati, Lamborghini, and Porsche.
I like all the 3 cars but went for my first love, i.e. Honda city, which beats the other hands down in the mid variant. Also the new platform isn't tested in the long run for the skoda and VW yet. However all the 3 cars are absolute gems and one can't go wrong when buying the other.

In terms of Brand value, reliability and trust and overall performance in the thug tight traffic I would say the city is the best. It gives an elegant look and feels luxurious for a common man's aspirations when compared to the other two rivals. Also, maintenance costs and spare parts are way cheaper than Skoda & VW.

Good video, very detailed review of the three cars. But if I've one complaint, though it's just my opinion, you only need tell that is hard plastic. The constant knocking of the dash is very annoying for me.
I felt this guy went purely with Slavia. Even he choke slammed same architecture Virtus in rear sitting. Also, Slavia has increased 50k with aftermarket 8 inch Panasonic touch screen. So think wisely who is winner.
One of their team member of owns this red slavia …… I have been to Showroom and listened to its music system it’s no way 6/10 , and I can Say better than Honda city cos I , well , umm , I’m driving the current model 😆 At first I was really confused between salvia and Virtus but I would like to thank Skoda for feature cuts , if that wouldn’t have happened I wouldn’t have signed in Virtus …. 🍻
@SARANG Honda city’s speakers are good no doubt but Virtus speakers are slightly better … Well while buying Honda city last year I got a pretty good deal on the CVT model ( like a pretty decent discount ) so I opted for it but little did I know that rubber effect if gonna kill me a little from inside ever time I go past 110-120 , I know it’s refined and what not but still if you like dragging your car like I do then please don’t ever opt for CVT ….. So finally I have decided to hand this car to my dad as he’s driven around by a driver so he couldn’t care and I’ll get Virtus / slavia for me …. Have booked both the cars , waiting to drive Virtus once ……

However the piano black finish on the dashboard is what I’m worried about , it feels good and upmarket but it’s a dust&fingerprint magnet , wouldn’t be easy to keep that clean …

I went for 1L top model manual for two reasons 1) no manual in 1.5 2) Personally I’m not a fan of red inserts of GT line dashboard , exterior looks really really impressive with black alloys and few black touches here and there but I’m ready to give up on those cos I don’t wanna spend most of my time looking at that red dashboard…. It’s too much for my eyes …

Yes , it's true that resale value is very low , but there is no high maintenance , I own ve vento from 2013 and already run 1.5 lac km , I have no issues with maintenance .

VW parts availability is low and expensive and their after sales service is remote and not the best. Honda parts availability is decent. No idea about their after sales and also about skoda
After tyre upgrade to 195/60 R15 in honda city, you will see a drastic difference in the handling,stance of the car. And it feels much smoother compared to the old default tyres (185/60 R15)
Does it feel more bouncy on highway at high speed ?? How you feel at rear seat considering the left-right movement and body roll ?? How is cornering ability now ?? How is the pickup now ? How is braking now ? Which brand tyre you bought ? What exchange value you got ? How much you used your old tyre ? Is cabin now more silent ? Road noise ? High speed stability ? How it behaves on bad and rought road ? Major concern is for rear seat passangers because front passangers are always happy because they are sitting at front but how about rear seat experience now ?? That's unladen ground clearance, With total capacity, almost all 3 have somewhat same ground clearance.

Verna is totally unbalanced car... You cant control it over 120.. according to its engine power it should have more weight

As I own both the 5th gen city and the slavia I could say that the slavia feels better than the city in every sense is a better choice for highway while the city might be a better package from the reliability point of you and lower variants
1.0 or the 1.5 tsi? Obviously the 1.5 tsi is better in highway performance but if you are implying that the 1.0 tsi is better than the Honda 1.5 NA, i have to strongly disagree having driven both
Yes , i am talking about 1.0 l and I completely agree that the city feels punchier and has more power but by highway I mean that it feels packed and safer but I’ll still say the city is better in driving dynamics

The VW Virtus makes 115 BHP in the 1.0 version and not 108 BHp which you have shown in the video and its not the same . The tuning and performance difference is there compared to vento 1.0 litre 108BHp

I know it is difficult to digest that there is a car which finally can overthrow honda city as the king of the segment.
I love honda city but have to say Slavia is better as an overall package.
With the maintenance packages which skoda provides it also is not heavy on the pocket in terms of maintenance.
Overall with any of the 3 cars there isn't a wrong choice. I personally would go with Slavia as an all rounder.
Remember...it's a skoda. Highly unreliable and high on maintenance.

Honda City is the best all rounder, just look at the timeless and plush interiors. Add to it a reliable engine. That Virtus AC vents in the middle dash are just ugly for such a costly car.

@motoroctane Its an amazing comparison without a doubt and we all respect your hardwork here… but why you guys not speaking about mechanical issues in Skoda Slavia, its really heart breaking when we buy a 16+ lac car and visit service center often.. Issues are listing up like anything, first it was famous EPC, now poor or worst AC quality, break noise, electrical wiring, cabin quality and so on.. Honda City may be not as eye catchy as Skoda/VW but you can simply trust and ride anywhere anytime.. I booked Slavia 2months back to understand what i am heading joined multiple owners group, they are abusing,helpless what else to say.. come on its high time you guys need to speak up, we subscribers are really trust you but leading a death track is horrible.. Without a second though i canceled and booked Honda City ZX.. At the end its all about reliability and comfort.. I made a decision and I know, i will never regret.. Honda is a Honda simple as that..

read. new honda city has unstable body shell. VW MBQA01 platform is unrivalled. Honda can only dream of that quality. in 2022, VW was no 1 in revenue. Toyota No.2 .Ford No,3 globally. Legendary sedan is Corolla. Honda city is considered as a cheap sedan all over the world. Civic is a better option. Audi sedans are also based on this platform and Audis are far superior to Honda. In fact, Honda is nothing but a mass market brand. Their luxury brand acura is a failure. VW luxury brands you know for sure, Bugati, Lamborghini, and Porsche.
My choice is Virtus. I know that it's expensive but i will somehow manage the EMI. I will buy the topline variant soon💪😃

I like all the 3 cars but went for my first love, i.e. Honda city, which beats the other hands down in the mid variant. Also the new platform isn't tested in the long run for the skoda and VW yet.
However all the 3 cars are absolute gems and one can't go wrong when buying the other.
VW platform is not tested? Where is Honda and where is VW globally? Benz and BMW come after VW group. Get your facts Honda should not be even parked near a VW brand - Audi to Skoda
In terms of Brand value, reliability and trust and overall performance in the thug tight traffic I would say the city is the best. It gives an elegant look and feels luxurious for a common man's aspirations when compared to the other two rivals. Also, maintenance costs and spare parts are way cheaper than Skoda & VW.

Well while buying Honda city last year I got a pretty good deal on the CVT model ( like a pretty decent discount ) so I opted for it but little did I know that rubber effect if gonna kill me a little from inside ever time I go past 110-120 , I know it’s refined and what not but still if you like dragging your car like I do then please don’t ever opt for CVT …..
So finally I have decided to hand this car to my dad as he’s driven around by a driver so he couldn’t care and I’ll get Virtus / slavia for me …. Have booked both the cars , waiting to drive Virtus once ……
@SARANG personally I loved Virtus interior, ( the dynamic line one ) and exterior of Virtus has no comparison if you ask me .
However the piano black finish on the dashboard is what I’m worried about , it feels good and upmarket but it’s a dust&fingerprint magnet , wouldn’t be easy to keep that clean …

I went for 1L top model manual for two reasons
1) no manual in 1.5
2) Personally I’m not a fan of red inserts of GT line dashboard , exterior looks really really impressive with black alloys and few black touches here and there but I’m ready to give up on those cos I don’t wanna spend most of my time looking at that red dashboard…. It’s too much for my eyes …
@SARANG Grey & Red Are not just GT line Color , they will also be available for dynamic line … my dealer had called me yesterday to inform that blue and white Color are available which I can get at earliest as I had booked the car in march itself …. But I prefer red and grey so I have asked to to allot me whichever is available at the earliest… also in an hour I’m going for the test drive …. So let’s see

The new lot of Slavia coming in the 2nd week of this month will loose 10" screen, amplifier and woofer also. Wireless Android auto will still be there. Now, discontinuing amplifier and woofer is Skoda's strategy of cost cutting.

Yes , it's true that resale value is very low , but there is no high maintenance , I own ve vento from 2013 and already run 1.5 lac km , I have no issues with maintenance .

VW parts availability is low and expensive and their after sales service is remote and not the best. Honda parts availability is decent. No idea about their after sales and also about skoda

After tyre upgrade to 195/60 R15 in honda city, you will see a drastic difference in the handling,stance of the car. And it feels much smoother compared to the old default tyres (185/60 R15)
