I miss the hills around Sarajevo, as well as the whole of Bosnia. Simply this country is the heart of the Balkans, its mountains, forests, lakes and rivers are real hidden treasures. Now I'm in the Netherlands and it's a great country and people, but everything around me is flat and it's driving me crazy! I want to go to the hills of Bosnia again. Thanks for a video

That's a verse of the famous song Lutka sa naslovne strane, by zabranjeno pušenje.
I always wanted to know where, this village called Sedrenik lie, well now I know.
Thanks Man, for doing this incredible series. I could never imagine that I would learn so many things about my own country, in this and many other videos, from a American 😅 (there's a prejudice in Bosnia that Americans don't know shit about other countries, especially Bosnia)

Honestly it's so sad to see that Bosnia is still quite underdeveloped country in the region. I know that war has left its mark, but politics there really left this beautiful country on knees.
I've been to Bosnia many times, people are great, but they live really poorly. I hope that things will one day be better for Bosnian people.

0:08 - 0:12 Old Town wasn't built by the Ottomans (Turks) per se but by Bosnian-Ottoman high ranking officials. The only thing I know for a fact, there're probably more, the Ottomans built the Old Bridge in Mostar. Majority of Ottoman infrastructure in Bosnia was built and financed by Bosnian-Ottoman rulers themselves. The core of Old Town Sarajevo was built by Isa-beg Ishakovic, founder of the city of Sarajevo and Novi Pazar (back then it was called only Pazar) and he was a Bosnian, not Turk. Yes, technically he was an Ottoman but if you say Ottoman, everyone associates it with actual Turks. But as I said and I'm repeating myself here, they haven't built it but Bosnian-Ottoman officials.
And Ben, this is by no means critique or anything along those lines. You're an individual who's very well educated or familiar with complex Balkan situation. Your comprehension of "Balkan things" is unmatched in comparison to most, if not all travell-bloggers videos I've seen so far.

5:10 For us, native Old Bosniaks, Serb, Sarajevo was not under siege but it was occupied in 1992. and around was native Serbian liberation army (my parents met eachotoher in Sarajevo but Muslims/PoTurice want to separate us from rest of our Serbia). War started when nonSarajevo Muslim come and kill local Serb Nikola Gardovic in city center for bearing Serbian traditional flag during son wedding. So terror start in Sarajevo in 1992. independence not siege. Siege was barrier to stop terror in other serbian area in Bosnia.

Well I am biased towards Bosnia since I have a lot of Bosnian friends from the US and I first learned about the balkans/the language by visiting them in Bosnia.
Plus, I'm interested in the out of the way places people don't hear much about like Novi Pazar, etc. There are many videos out there of exploring Belgrade but not as many in the south of Serbia.
But don't worry, I was actually in Serbia again recently (Niš and Priboj again) so I'll have more Serbia videos soon :)

Yeah, I really found it amusing that his route was essentially almost purposely avoiding the Serb-majority areas, both in Serbia and Bosnia with the lone exception of Priboj, but even that was so he could go visit the Bosnian exclave. Whatevs. Plenty of bloggers out there who love Serbia and can't get enough of it. At least he deserves props for learning the language and, as far as I can tell, refraining from being overtly anti-Serb.
