    Bro your a legend. I love the fact your walking around and actually showing a different side of Bosnia and not like these majority of TH-camrs who just end up in Sarajevo and Mostar. They dont show anything else about the country.
    And you actually interact with the locals aswell which is awesome.

    Ive never seen any TH-camr going in Gorazde, for example this time, or in any of tuhis places in Batkans that you visited! Im learning from you abouth the country ive been born. well done! thank you, and i much apprichiate job you are doing! (Sorry for my bad spelling, but i never learned english in school, only by listening)

    Still remember the food they gave me in Međugorje in 2010... šir, šunka, vino... Everything was homemade and so tasty, i mean as real food not the processed stuff you usually find in big cities and as a country man i felt at home.😊

    Best rakija is in the Prijedor-Banjaluka area and I say that as a Hercegovac so I am not biased. You won't find much of it in Bosniak dominated areas because we are mostly Muslims and while many of us still do have a drink every now and then it is frowned upon to actually make the alcohol in areas where Bosniaks are the majority. You might find a Serb or a Croat who makes it in those areas but very few Bosniaks...

    Ben, you might be interested in Joe Sacco's graphic novel, Safe Area Gorazde, which is a great and beautiful read. It's about the war, but so much too about the city, its people and its struggle.

    To complete the list of products that are much better done homemande than buying them at a store: Ajvar (for me personally best balkan food product), All sorts of Jams (especially from plum and apricot), different variants of cheese, Kajmak especially, all sorts of hams and dried meat, honey... then also main dishes like Pasulj, Sarma and all sorts of Pita

    ok, my friend, for good rakija, sljivovica and other fruit kind brandies, go to the north, city called Gradačac. Every year they have an expo which is build around single fruit, plum. good luck on your journeys.
    see if you can find apricot brandy (rakija), quince as well, those are really great ones, if they are made by masters, and Gradačac have them for sure. cheers.

    Nisi morao traziti domacu rakiju po kucama, imao si kupiti tu u kafani odmah pored autobuske stanice. A i u jos nekim kafanama ima da se prodaje domaca rakija. Trebao si pitati vise ljudi ono sto te zanima. Pozdrav

    Wrong, my friend, the best brandy is where the most plums are grown, namely Brcko and Gradacac, those two cities produce more plums than the whole of Bosnia, even if we are talking about plum brandy. Greetings

      No not at all, I was pretty lost when she was mixing the languages. I know a few phrases of German from when I used to live in Switzerland. But I lived in the French part so I was only exposed to it when I went to other parts of the country

It is because the places you visited have a large diaspora in Germany, Austria, and the German-speaking Switzerland. I guess that younger people living in larger cities have tried English on you. Next time this happens, just tell them: "Ne razumem nemacki, vas jezik razumem mnogo bolje "

    Don’t say “babushka”. Nobody ever says that there. That term does not exist in the Balkan region. That’s Russian.

      I only use babuska because everyone knows what it means. Plus I have heard multiple words for grandmother in balkanski so I’m not even sure what the right thing to say would be… what is the best word to use in that case???

      @@BenTheRules Yes, there are multiple words for grandma. “Baka” or “Baba” are the words used mainly among Serbs and Croats. Bosniaks mostly use the term “Nana” with different variations of that word such as Nena, Nane depending on the region. Than, Bosnisks also use the term “Majka” or “Stara Majka” in some regions. There’s even a term “Bika” in the eastern Bosnia.

      @@BenTheRules it's all the same . bosna i hercegovina je bio naziv te republike u vrijeme jugoslavije ( kada je bilo kakav oblik nacionalizma prakticki bio kazneno djelo ) ,ali se kolokvijalno nazivala Bosna .. ove podjele na federaciju i srpsku bi trebao pokusat ignorirati barem ti kao stranac...jer za tebe zaista nema razloga da padas pod te nacionalisticki motivirane gluposti.Bosna i hercegovina, tj. Bosna je jedna drzava...i puuuuuno bi im bolje bilo kada bi se i oni sami tako ponasali i tako svoju zemlju dozivljavali...meni je cisto zao ( iako sa bosnom nemam nikakve bitne veze ) ,i zalosno, sto takva lijepa,bogata zemlja,u kojoj zive vrijedni ,marljivi i sposobni ljudi , prolazi ovoliko lose...a vjerujem kako su upravo te podjele razlog sto bosna stagnira,ili cak propada....zalosno je sto mladi ljudi odlaze iz bosne,kada im ona sama pruza puno vise od zemaja zapadne europe. ...za primjer uzimam poljoprivrednu proizvodnju, stocarstvo , i preradu voca,povrca,zitarica i mesa.

    Hey Ben, make a few episodes about Seveah, it is a music direction specific for Bosnia no one does it else in the world it is our kind of a Soul Music that is telling the stories from the pas usually about love and suffering but it's like true songs singing about specific event that took place back in the days etc...

    Regarding Rakija (which a general term for all destil spirts on Balkan and I think you rather are searching for en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slivovitz which the one made from the plumbs), I would guess you find it more in the villages with majority orthodox population rather than muslim (they dont drink that much, partially religious reasons ).. but I might be wrong nowadays, havent visited in a long time :)

      I think to some extent that's true, I know some muslims from Bosnia who don't drink, but I also know plenty who do :)
