thanks givelaughlearn. Just did the 7 day intro whitewater kayaking course with Jared and Jamie at Kayak the Nile and loved it. Clearly this is not a beginners rapid!
@schrekenspoof Well said! Class VI is theoretically possible to run, but many rafting companies seem to use that term to impress their customers, conveniently forgetting the correct definition used in the international classification of rapids...
I would have said it was a class V or V+ because it is Extremely difficult, Very fast-flowing water which can be maneuvered only by experts but it is very runnable as the video shows
@kitchiner8976 Would you mind defining "class 6"? Do you mean according to the the international white water rating, the U.S. white water rating or some other scale (such as the rafting companies in many places around this planet use to impress their customers)?
In kayaking i always thought class 6 meant not runnable (attempting to run it could only result in death or serious injury because theres no line that goes). So itanda is class 5 since it is runnable??

@TeamSafari2 sorry mate even at really high levels this thing is not really class VI. It only really gets to V+. Pretty unlikely to die here to be honest. Even pencil sharpener tends to give after time and you really need to mess up to go into the pencil sharpener.
the debate between class V and VI is stupid class VI means unrunnable or grave injury to one that falls off line with the consequence most likely being death if it is run than it goes to V+ There is a guide book that has instead of class VI it is rated as make my day rating like dirty harry said go ahead make my day "do you feel lucky punk". And kayaking ratings are different than rafting due to the lack of mobility in rafts that and harder rapids in rafts are for the customers anyhow
Great kayaker, truly masterful.

Finally somebody believes me! :O) I didn't even pretend like I did it... I was just repeating what the guides had told me! Thanks Kitchiner8976!
awesome skill to get through that and make it look so easy, great line you run
That's some sweet looking water boys. Uganda huh? We'll have to figure this one out soon.
White Nile, Uganda. Most people stay at a place called Jinja which has a pretty cool setup for rafting and kayaking.
wow so how many times can you do that and make it out alive. HARDCORE..... wow!

He couldn't have paddled that any better, if he got off that line he would have been screwed so many hydraulics

That looks scary
far from 6, there is clear line so it's just barely 5. And yes i have runned it.
What river is this on?
class 6 means unrunnable
he just ran it - cant be class 6
its class 6, if he went off line on any of that river death is more than probable.
Adrenaline kick, lol...

1600 cumecs says it is
I just ran it, its not 6. Its not even a hard 5, sure it has nasty consequences but the line is fairly easy. Dead Dutchman was hard.
