Literally just left NO a few hours ago and used your videos as a major guide for my visit. We went to Audobon park four times in five days we loved it so much! Also took two walking tours with the company with Sean (who did fantastic) in the garden district and bayou St. John and the cemetery). My brother has lived for over 50 yrs in NOLA. We used to visit frequently in the past but now travel is too difficult. He lives over by the fairgrounds on Lopez. In all that time we only visited Audubon Park once and then I can say after watching your video, that we hardly saw any of it. NOLA is so beloved in my heart and i miss her a lot. You did such a great job with this tour of the park!!!
Audubon Park holds a very special place in my heart. I considered it my backyard growing up. I lived about a one minute bike ride from that wonderful green place. Many happy times spent in Audubon Park.
So cool - I see the swings and playground equipment set up next to some of the houses on Exposition, and I can only imagine what a great backyard the park would be for them and the rest of the neighbors!
There was a “swan boat” when I was a kid. You could purchase tickets and ride around the lagoon starting from the bandstand. I saw “the monkees” in concert at that bandstand in 1984. Pretty small stage but it was a really good concert. I remember catching tiny little perch from the lagoon and grilling them in Audubon Park with some other friends. We thought we were real fisherman because we got these tiny little perch. Such wonderful memories. Also, many may not realize there was a little train for kids that went around the park back in the day.
I’ve only gotten to hear about the swan boat! And re: the Monkees, that’s pretty incredible - hard to picture that kind of crowd gathered there today. Thanks for sharing the memories.

When I was a youngster back in the 1940s & 50s, my mother would take my brother and I and usually a couple of cousins to Audubon Park, sometimes at the St. Charles entrance (you could drive in there back then, and sometimes to the Magazine St. side and the zoo. It was a fun time. Thanks for the video tour. Thoroughly enjoyed it,😃
@@FreeToursbyFootHQ Yes,you could enter the park from St. Charles, turn right and drive alongside the golf course to just short of Magazine , turn left alng the back of the golf course then go left again and up back to St. Charles. You cloud also exit to Magazine rather than go back to St Charles. But there were problems with speeders and clashes with cycles and walkers so they stopped cars from entering from St. Charles.
Hi Layne! If anything, it's having a renaissance - I see bladers with some serious moves in the park (and lipsyncing to whatever's on their headphones a surprisingly large % of the time).

The majority of trees in New Orleans are live oak but cypress trees are mostly found in the wet swampy parts of rural Louisiana, not in New Orleans proper! 😉
Wow, I knew NO was a beautiful city (went there about 12 years ago) but the Audubon Park is every bit as great as Central Park (and much safer). I'm really looking forward to racking up some vacation time at work so I can come back. I miss visiting NO. I'm even working my way through Anne Rice's "The Witching Hour" a third time. It's a huge book but one of her best. I've read her books since I was in high school over 20 years ago. RIP Mrs. Rice.

Interessting. In your road trip there was those "scary" trees. I just found out those hanging things is spanish moss. Why isn't there anything in the park. Is it only local to the other trees on your trip?
Hi Daniel - mostly Spanish moss doesn’t grow in the city. From what I understand, the less car exhaust is around, the happier it is, so you always see more out in the country.

@Free Tours by Foot - New Orleans I bought tickets to Oak Avenue and Laura (bought the book "Memories on the Old Plantation to read to really get an understanding of the family-SO good!) I also need to add Whitney Plantation to this list, and Myrtle. My huge concern is getting around. Are the further away plantations accessible by an electric scooter, or do you recommend renting a car for that day?
Hey Marti - it’s hard to say this far ahead, given how everyone is still a little shy to announce events. But there are generally Halloween events all over the city, including some in City Park. Voodoo Fest (a music festival) is usually that weekend, and the Scout Island Scream Park is also located inside City Park.
I do recommend you change your recording device or editing video higher FPS. your video is so great but just quality and FPS little low make eyes tired. thanks
The Aunobon park is a wonderful place to go with your family by yourself it is so peaceful. I'm kind of changing the subject I date I'm wondering if somebody that's on here on here could help me locate a painting? The title of the painting is All Hollow Eve It is a Boyd Cruise painting. It was privately owned for a long time but but then it was given I believe believe in 2016 maybe to the museum that's on Royal street I can't think of the name on top of my head. I know I've seen a print of it once in a small side gallery on Royal street but I have not seen it since in a sense I just wondering if anybody can help me locate this painting or a print of it I would highly appreciate it the painting means so much to me.
