I know this is a pretty old post but here goes anyways. I live on the East Coast but I've been visiting New Orleans for over 30 years, except for the last few due to injury, Although I haven't been in a few or so years, I remember like it was yesterday. I have friends that live there that traveled often so I gladly offered to house sit as much as I could, there's been plenty of times I've even rented there while friends stayed in Hotels across the River, it's peaceful and most folks I know say it's a bit boring but I've never had any issues of boredom at all there, there were times I'de hop on the 1st. Ferry of the day just to turn around & go back😉 I love and miss it! I've been missing New Orleans too much so I've been binge watching your tours 😮💨Thank you for these video tours!💓

Thanks so much for the tour. While visiting New Orleans some 40 years ago I took the ferry to Algiers and loved wanderimg around the area. I stumbled onto the most charming little restaurant for lunch with white table cloths, wonderful local cuisine and excellent service. One of the highlights from one of my favorite cities in the country. So happy to see so many of the neighborhood's historic buildings being refurbished today as well. Retired to Palm Springs now but this really gets me interested in returning to New Orleans again.

Good video! We stayed in Algiers Point when we visited New Orleans 2 years ago for my wife’s birthday. We really enjoyed it and glad we stayed there vs on the other side of the river. Very unique neighborhood. The Crown and Anchor was cool place and the Dry Dock had some good food, we also hit up the pizza place a couple times that was next to it. We enjoyed walking along the waterfront and using the ferry to go to the French Quarter. We said if we came for another visit we would stay in Algiers Point again.

I ❤️ The Crown and Anchor!!!...🇬🇧...by far my favorite bar in America ( thus far)...🏆🥇⭐...I recommend The Pimm's Cup....I also recommend renting a bike ( you can take it on the ferry at no extra charge) and riding the asphalt trail along the levy...and just like The French Quarter , you can get a cocktail to go as open liquor laws apply to Algiers , as well...

Took the ferry there last Sunday evening…was the perfect way to get away from the rowdy crowd of the French Quarter Festival at the Mississippi River (they were far rowdier than they’d been on Friday or Saturday evening!) Very much like Rabun Conty in North Georgia, where I grew up! Enjoyed the beautiful sunset and the calm and peace, as well as the flowers, trees, and swamp scenery. I only followed the river road par, where there were many people walking their dogs, as well as benches and a water fountain and toilets. Other than houses, the only places I saw were a towing business; one food shop that was closed; a couple of bars near the ferry, not of interest to me, as I don’t drink alcholic beverages; and two churches, both of which were also closed. I then tried to take the ferry back at 8:45 pm, as per the board info and that by voice of several residents, only to find that the usual 8:45 and 9:45 pm ferries had been cancelled, due to the festival! And, even if there had been a ferry, I wouldn’t have been able to take it, because I don’t use Le Pass on a smartphone, and the ticket desk was closed and there was no ticket machine there like on the other side! Fortunately, I was able to take a bus back, via Gretna, which went to the Main Library, and saw a whole new area of the city I hadn’t seen in 5 months here (at night) on this bus. Want to go again sometime in the morning when I have time to see more. Would be a pretty good place to live, assuming you have a good kitchen and cook all your food at home.

Great video! Also want to compliment you on the great sound quality!!!!! I am hard of hearing, need to use closed captioning, which didn't work on the video, but your voice is very clear and easy to understand/hear throughout. Just great overall - thanks!!

I lived off General De Gaulle in "New" Algiers at the Parc Fontaine apartment complex. It was a cool place to be. We had many weekend parties at a friend of mine's place there by the pool. This was back in the early to mid eighties.
Is that resurrection fern similar to that Rose of Jerrico plant? You can pop it in water and it opens up, but when its dry it just curls up, till you put it back in water.
A sweet memory for us! We lived on Lavergne Street in Algiers Point in the 1980s! A lot has changed, but the streets still look very much the same! You almost showed the house we lived in here!

Am happy to see you guys back ! Am curious, I've not been over there in a bit. We used to occasionally visit a little neighborhood farmers market over there (set up on part of a vacant lot) maybe a couple of blocks in off the Ferry. Any idea if that is still in operation ? I want to say it was right close to where you started near the Crown & Anchor but could be mistaken. Thanks so much !
Welcome! Thanks again for watching, Theresa! If you know of anyone else who might also enjoy these videos, please share us with them. We would really appreciate that! Thank you.
Hey, great video of the area of the neighborhood near the Algiers Point ferry. I myself grew up in Algiers Point since the 1950's. Algiers Point had three movie theaters, numerous Christian churches, two railroads and numerous small Mom and Pop businesses two ferry terminals and many playgrounds.
Algiers Point is wonderful...and The Old Point Bar is just a special place.Im visiting New Orleans for Christmas again this year, and day two ( Christmas Eve ) Ill be over the Mississippi and straight into the Old Point Bar for a Dixie...or an Abita if they did actually change the name of Dixie beer !.

Wow. What a place to grow up. We went there and loved the peaceful laidback moment away from the FQ. I don't remember seeing the mural so that was a treat. Nice presentation from one who clearly knows his way around. Thank-you.
How do I buy you a ☕coffee? I don't see the link, thanks a lot you guys are awesome!! ( I don't see the pay pal link💜🏡🥑🌲😇🦮🐕🦺🐾🙏🌹😘thanks again for teaching me of where my ancestors grew up lived 🌻

Hey Daniel. You did a lovely job. I don't tip on line, but do you have a physical address or a PO Box I can drop a tip at? Not your personal address ( don't mean to sound creepy. LOL) I meant does the company have an address where I can send a tip?

I enjoyed the snippets of information presented. I have been trying to learn more about Algiers Point so I was excited to see this video. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the presentation. When we come off the ferry where do we go? What roads do we go on? What distances are involved? Are there any buses? I saw a lot of beat up roads and sidewalks in the video. How easy is it for people using canes, walkers, wheelchairs, and electric scooters to get around? Daniel, please practice your presentation more. You had way too many ums and other filler sounds. It makes you sound nervous, unprofessional, and lacking in knowledge. Because of the content, I know the latter isn't true. You have a nice voice but all the ums and hesitations were distracting. Your love for Algiers Point did come through.
This man is giving you all this information for free, you are not entitled. Try to be grateful instead of disappointed. If he ums and uhs throughout the whole video, allow him to do so with out insulting him. Geez! Take a step back and breath. And by the guy a coffee! Lol
It is quite walkable and he didn't venture all that far if memory serves. I do know the eateries and Pub are pretty much 'get off the Ferry and go to your right' (Bouny St. if memory serves ?) . Perhaps you should appreciate what you get (for free no less) in lieu of being disappointed by what you didn't ? If you have ever been to NOLA, it is typical for NOLA streets. If you wish to pay your penance due, give the man a tip.
I agree with you. All I hear is the word "actually" over and over and over again. Bummer because he is clearly very knowledgeable, but his videos are unwatchable to me. Also, to the people salty about your comment: there is nothing wrong with constructive criticism/feedback
I would not recommend the streets of NOLA to extremely old and handicapped people. The streets are uneven, have holes and are crowded with often intoxicated younger people. Walking the sidewalks and climbing over the bulges from the live oak trees' roots is part of the charm of this old city, but it is not for the physically impaired. Take an air conditioned bus tour if you're over 55 years old.
Thank you teaching me about nrew Orleans where half of my ancestors are from, awesome part of New Orleans has sheriff's, I saw the shwriffs car near that police box funny, , I did not know that, so important 😇🚔💙you guys are awesome thanks💜🏡🌲🥑🍍😇🦮🌻🐕🦺🐾( my faters side is from New Orleans so thank you so much!!

Informative video. What it is the weather like in March in New Orleans?
Algiers Point is wonderful...and The Old Point Bar is just a special place.Im visiting New Orleans for Christmas again this year, and day two ( Christmas Eve ) Ill be over the Mississippi and straight into the Old Point Bar for a Dixie...or an Abita if they did actually change the name of Dixie beer !.
We are glad you enjoyed the video, Tommy. We also hope to show you around New Orleans when you get here. You can browse our tour selection here freetoursbyfoot.com/new-orleans-tours/.

My pleasure, Dennis. - Daniel.
So, do children take the ferry to school everyday, or are there schools on AP? Is it family friendly, in that regard?
Yes, Algiers Point have a few schools and it is family-friendly too.
@@FreeToursbyFootHQ Thank you for responding!
That English bar has a cook out on Fridays. Old Point Bar doesn’t have music every night
Wow. What a place to grow up. We went there and loved the peaceful laidback moment away from the FQ. I don't remember seeing the mural so that was a treat. Nice presentation from one who clearly knows his way around. Thank-you.
We'll be publishing a part 2 eventually.
I’m visiting New Orleans for the first time next week Is it still a good time to be there??
There's never a "bad" time to be in NOLA, except during a hurricane.
@@jamesr1703 more so because I don’t want covid to ruin it somehow lol

Loved the Bavaria flag at 12:10!
:). The thumbnail maker is a German. Good catch.
Hey Daniel. You did a lovely job. I don't tip on line, but do you have a physical address or a PO Box I can drop a tip at? Not your personal address ( don't mean to sound creepy. LOL) I meant does the company have an address where I can send a tip?
I'm from the real Algiers 😂 thanks for the video.
Glad that you enjoyed the video Karim. If you haven't already done so, hopefully, you can check out our other virtual tours of New Orleans th-cam.com/play/PLpNEdLF6RWV3oDPK7SD9GOttlhvaGBsh2.html.There is more where this came from.
We have pocket parks just like in France 🇫🇷⚜️
Thanks for sharing that tidbit.
I was little but I remember going to a restaurant in Algiers with my parents. Dad talked about that steak for years n years. What ever became of "I think it was" Algiers Landing?
Next, go. To Algiers, Algeria 👍

Thanks for the visit
Is the bank still in use?
It is now a residence
Am I the only one that feels Algiers is strange! I felt like I was being watched & followed in broad daylight.
Barracuda for lunch!
What happened to Andrew? Did he move on to something else?
No. He's still here. He's working on other projects and hasn't had as much time as he previously had for videos on this channel. He will be back.
Police box? Tardis.
How rude.
Wonderful.
great video
Our pleasure.
