    By far the best explanation of structure scan. Thank you! Now I completely understand what I'm looking at.

      @@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS I have the 2018/2019 version of the StructureScan HD thru hull transducer from Simrad paired to a Simrad NSS 9 evo3 display. Does my system have enhanced side scan or just regular side scan?

    After watching this video i believe that you should stay with side scan only, I don't see any improvement on 3d scanner, side scanner was getting a lot better information and more detail in my opinion.

    The screen on that Sim radio makes lowrance touch screens look like atari's. It actually looks nice and clear like the HB screens

    How is your 3D screen so stable? Compared even to the 3D simulation, which is quite jerky or unstable. Do you have that compass puck thing? Is that what makes urs so stable?
    Thanks for sharing

    We have 3d with dual transducers. How did you get such a clear picture of the bottom? Seems like something is not set right on our unit

    What transducer model are you using and in order to run 2 evo do you have to mount 2 transducers? I’m about to pull the trigger on the 12” but if I can get two 9” and mount them side by side flush and only use one transducer I will do that. I have the Simrad Go9 right now with the total scan transducer. Is that the one needed for the evo or a better one? Thank you

    thanks for sharing. im trying to wrap my head around where the boat is in relation to the image on the side scan. Do you put the transducers on front or back of the boat? If they are in the back, does it mean everything you are seeing on screen is behind you?

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      PJ Jackson it’s on the transom. So yes, everything on the screen is behind you.

    How did you filter out the bubbles coming off the back of the boat? I can't see the much cause I get a ton of them off the hull.

      Mike Smedley Hi Mike, that’s super. I was wondering then how long it would take to scan a square mile, if I was looking for something at 300 ft? I guess you can do 1 mile length in 5 minutes but how many times would you need to snake back on yourself? Is it 5280/200 or 26 times? So is the theoretical answer about 2 hrs? Practically speaking though more like 4 hrs? Reason for asking is I know where $3-4m of gold is but it’s in about a 31 sq mile area, and it got me thinking about the economics of this stuff.

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      James Richardson wow!! Alot depends on large the structure is, and how far it sticks up off the bottom. You can actually go quite faster if it’s a large piece of structure. If it’s very small you would have to run a cross hatch checker board to see every detail, but something that sticks 2-3 feet off of the bottom would be easier to see, especially if the surrounding area is flat. If you are in deeper water you can see more of the bottom, so the deeper the better in this case. I hope this is a legal undertaking brother. If it is, GOID LUCK!!

      Mike Smedley The draft of the target is 20 ft and sank between 1850-1900. Length is well well over 100 ft. The target is wooden so may be a bit decomposed by now but it has an anchor.

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Bensaid Rachid RBS I would say 100 ft or so to effectively use the 3D. The side and down Scan work much deeper. I do know guys that use the 3D in water to around 200ft , but I use down scan and side scan at those depths.

      They both are the same technology wise. The Simrad gives you a little more in the Radar department and has a nice real glass screen vs Lowrance plastic. That's pretty much it.

    In ten feet of water how far can you see off the the side of the boat in 3D mode? I am thinking of buying this to use and average depth is 10 feet and was wanting to see how far off to the sides I can see. Thanks for any help with this matter.

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kathy Jackson the actual "3D" page does OK to around 100ft during my personal use. I did a video showing that here th-cam.com/video/RC5CxnHm4BQ/w-d-xo.html
      The side scan works excellent in every depth I have used it in. I don't fish very deep. Around 150 is the max usually. The ENHANCED side scan that come with the 3D is just awesome. It uses several elements to each side to perform well in various depths. I hope this helps.

      Kathy Jackson wow! I would say that is a bit too deep for the 3D😵. I have been testing and comparing several Airmar Transducers for them. I don't know what you use for reg 2D Sonar, but the 275 H/L wide is a beast and probably the top of the sportfishing line. If you have only single CHIRP capability the b175 or tm185 in high Wide is also sick and excels at those depths. (Especially the low CHIRP on the 275).

      Mike Smedley. My question is, if with this Simrad equipment, I can generate my own contour lines of any body of water, make bathymetries and extract the information. I want to know if this equipment allows me to generate cartography of new lakes, rivers, and if you can get the contour lines in the computer
