Awesome. Just sold me on them. My 400whp 02 Mustang should hook well with them. Thanks for the real world test. Means so much more than a controlled test on a track for most people.
I have them on my hellcat. Once they're warm they hook. Im not scared of doing 40 rolls with the nitto nt555r2 knowing I'm not gonna spin my tires off lol
I have 500 hp do I need to do a burnout for them to hook? Or can I just floor it a couple times off the line to make them warm up enough to hook ?
@@shelbyhaiketic4212 you don't need to do any of that as long as u have minimal Throttle control if any from a dig. From a roll u can smash it in first and they'll hook. I ha e them on my current car w 550hp and they hook no issue

They work really well on my Lightning. I got a set on my 15inch race stars, 325/50/15s, and they hook pretty good on the street!
Hitting the track soon, so we'll see how they do there, and get some numbers...hoping for low-mid 11's on the stock blower 🤘⚡
Do I need to do a burnout for them to hook with just 500 hp? I was hoping I can just floor it a couple times while driving around until they start hooking
@@shelbyhaiketic4212 I did a very minimal burnout, even just a dry hop, and they hooked fine for me. Making 520whp/604wtq in my Lightning, 1.6 60ft, ran mid 11s. Not too shabby for a street radial.
Great tires 👍 got them in 20inch 305s rear too go along with nitto g2 front. They perfect, Great in rain too. I daily drive with them in and out of town for work highway etc. You just have too run nitto r2 in lower psi. (24 to 26psi to daily drive) so you won’t wear it out uneven. great traction! Overall great buy. Probably sold out everywhere by now. Will buy again. 🙌

@@ARXDMOS hard corners idk 🤷♂️ but they used to be my daily rear tires for couple months then end up selling them for g2 because I work out of town and used the 5.0 for daily car
Do u have to do a burnout in order for them to hook ? I have 500 hp, will I be able to warm them by just flooring it off the light a couple times ?
I run these tires on my mustang. They hook great in dry and wet. When hitting a puddle it will pull buy sticks and is controlled. However once you wear them in they will spin on take off under hard acceleration but stick hard really quick. No complaints, fastest I had these tires up to is 140mph.

If you want eliminate first gear spin, then go lower differential ratio it will be better for street racing from dead stop and less gear sifting needed, also better fuel mpg.
Nice I got these in 275/60/15 for my gt500. Hopefully with the torque it'll hook.

They seem like very good performance tires. Supposedly they can get you home even if it rains.

I have them on my terminator and they got me home in the rain 4 times or so already and they give you a lot more confidence in not hydroplaning, and the back end feels more planted.

@@MustangLifestyleTV That's how I lost my silver metallic cobra last year. Brand new mickey thompson ets in the rear and earlier model nitto 555's in front...car hydroplaned at 45mph. I did the same thing that Lewis did in his 180 spinout except for me there was no shoulder...only a concrete divider. Friday the 13th no less!

Back in the early 2000's I had a 1989 GT hatch with all the bolt-ons. Shortly after buying it I got a new set of Nitto 555r2's 275/40r-17 all around and they were amazing. I've been a fan of these tires since.
The 555r2 came out in 2020
@@ricardoquezada3109 Don't know what to tell you. I bought a set of Nitto 555r2's around 2004. They were relatively new then if I remember correctly. The 555r's were considered the drag radials while the 555r2's had a stiffer side wall and were more oriented around road racing. If that still holds true in the newer tires that would probably explain why Andrew says they don't have as much sway in them as other drag radials do.

The link below is from a Corvette forum which is dated 2003 and they're talking about the newer NT555R2's which have the same compound and tread of the NT555r drag radials but have a stiffer sidewall just like I said. www.z06vette.com/threads/nitto-555r2.51888/

@@ricardoquezada3109 it was. Had the same name but diff tire. It was like nittos r888 basically. A road course oriented tire. The new version is literally the next iteration of the old 555r drag radial.

@@JuanJavierthebeast I needed tires that I could drive through the twisty roads in the mountains, so I ended up going with R888Rs and they’re great! They can hook WOT in 2nd!
I have a fully body on 12’ GT. With e85. These tires never did me good off the line. But it hooks on 2-4th gear. Same tire size. I even got sticky glue on the pavement and burned out for a 30 seconds or more. Also dropped my tire pressure to 15psi.

Andrew your doing it wrong , after a 4 gear pull your suppose to put it in neutral and wiggle the shifter back and forth , a lot .

I have the nitto 555 g2 on the fronts and once it gets a lil bit warmer I plan to put the r2's on the rear of my 2017 gt..
That's supposed to be the hot combo. G2's in front and R2's in the rear.

The description of these tires on Summit has them listed as autocross and road racing tires.
Agreed I went from NItto drag radial to the same MT you spoke of and now I am going back to NItto NT555RII as the Sway was not cool for the way I drive, same size 305/35/20 on Ferrrada FR1. Anytime I did some back road spirited driving it didnt feel planted to me running Whipple Gen5 on Oxford white.

💥 Can anyone say how these drag radials are in autocross? I’m looking to be using these primarily on the street and I’m wondering how they grip in the turns.
I have these tires on my 2010 Grabber Blue GT500 and I think they're great for dry conditions. Never have driven it in the rain so not sure how they preform in inclement weather conditions. Good bang for your buck. Great video!

Almost $800 for a set that has a 100 treadwear rating is a tough buy. I have the 555 G2s with 50 lbs of sand over each wheel in the trunk of my S550. The increase in traction definitely outweighs the extra weight. I couldn’t hook til 4th before I put more weight in the rear. Finally found a good balance of tire wear and traction.

I'm glad you had luck with the NT555r's because I didn't. Then again you have a nice wide Power band and make you're torque up top which definitely helps with off the line performance

there is a r2 and a r11. your trying the r11 not the r2. I run the R11 as you stated in the definition however you keep saying R2. Interesting lots of people do that I wonder why? Also are not the R11 drive axle tires and the R2 used for non drive rotation? Lots of interesting things on these

You have trac control still on? My tuner turned it off on the terminator. What would you suggest. I’d like to be able to turn it on if I want to
1. Leave it as your tuner set it, off
2. Get a good sticky tire
3. Don't worry about it and have fun.

Nitto makes pretty great tires as long as you stay away from the 555G2. Had them on my gti awhile ago and couldn't even hook through second gear in the summer and they got greasy when cornering in pretty much no time at all. Worst fucking tires I've ever had. The car was literally only a stage 1 flash too

@@kuddos2129 they make good drift car tires because they're easy to light up lol. My bolt on geared 07 gt500 (550 rwhp) would absolutely light them on fire at a second gear roll and rpm would shoot up id short shift 3rd and the ass end almost got lose in 3rd as well this was 275/35/20 on a 20x10 rovos. They were on my car when I got it. Now I got 275/60/15 on f14 drag pack and dead hooks 2nd it will even hook 1st when it is warm pretty damn good and that is with 30 psi street pressure and no burnout these tires are beast. Spinning as easily as it did when I bought it is something I hated and it truly made me not be able to enjoy the car. Now I can stomp it whenever I want and from 2nd gear on I have no worries at all it just hauls ass and this is with 500+ torque to the wheels off idle to redline with 4.10 gears. Pretty impressive.
