Self inflicted wounds that are now hurting. Tony Khan handed the company over to a bunch of marks who instead of doing what's best for the company, preferred to settle personal agendas and blackball everybody who questioned their intentions. Also the owner keeps on over promising and under delivering on his announcements so he lost all of the goodwill with the fans and it's become normal to pick on him due to his constant meltdowns

The wrestlers don't need to be writing their own stuff , but Tony khan doesn't need to book it either. They need a separate writer that's disconnected from both of them. Let him/her create the magic.
Aew last time I watched it reminds me of new Japan which is nothing but long wrestling matches . That works on a ppv. That doesn't work on a weekly tv show.
You need more cool storylines and short matches on tv. Put the long drawn out matches on the ppv's

I've really loved AEW since day one and consider myself a huge fan. I had never missed a single show until recently I have started to drop off. I get that - difficulty is how much revenue you leave on the table if you stick to having less. Balance has to be pretty hard I’d imagine. Tougher to have so many PPVs since the out of pocket is pretty steep but I think based on some estimates I saw from the buys the PPVs have done this year compared to last, based on $49.99 a buy which I know is prob a high estimate, that’s roughly $10M in new revenues. But it’s for sure a big ask to get that much monthly from people. But I also don’t think you have to watch everything either - maybe watch the show you’re used to and sporadically the other stuff if it grabs your eye and if it doesn’t scope a recap maybe. And do similar for a PPV over buying every one. But I’d be amazed for anybody to be able to consume everything that’s put out there.

I never missed a single show or ppv but sadly these days I can’t even get through a single episode of dynamite or skip it some weeks, I gave up on rampage altogether and have yet to watch a full episode of collision. WWE is on fire right now including NXT. Tony needs to do something because he’s not doing a good job as a leader and is letting the talent run the show.

2021 was the best chance for AEW to really show what they can do. They signed a lot of talent and managed to get CM Punk back into wrestling. All they had to do was keep that momentum going. Yet, here we are at the end of 2023 and it feels like they've taken a few steps back. It is fascinating seeing AEW turn into a WWE-lite: Too many long, drawn-out, shows, storylines with only a week or two worth of build, hotshot booking of older talent, and a Main Event World Champion who is booked with the ultimate babyface comeback victories (a la John Cena). I want them to do well, I really do, WWE being the only major televised product is very bad for the medium of professional wrestling. Collision is essentially a show filled with dros and dumb Tony Khan fetishes of seeing guys in masks in styles clash matches, where they botch every single spot involved playing out in half empty arena. Then you get to the main event and more often than not its good. This was TNA back in the day. Where the entire show is crap and bullshit that vince Russo booked then in the middle of it you'd get a great x division match. Right now it only feels like the in ring product is better all the other things WWE is killing them on. And I think that's affecting morale. Do I think WWE can sustain this good run long term? AEW maybe 80% Trash but I'd rather watch that than the boring tame sterile WWE PG product that WWE craps out on a weekly basis. It's more kiddie friendly and PG than the Cena PG Era. CM Punk or no CM Punk I won't be watching regularly because it Sucks period.

The Wembley PPV was AEW's WM17, since that PPV ended everything is going wrong. Except for PPVs, everything else is ranging from stagnant to fading. Tony Khan has become a laughingstock and the CM Punk fiasco did a lot of damage, and Punks return at SS made Khan look the biggest fool since the days of Russo, George Scott, and Jim Herd.
If AEW doesn't recover it is forever proof that a workrate based promotion will never be massive in North America.

8:00 okay while yes I agree that hotshotting NXT for that one head-to-head night might have led to some lower weeks now, but I don’t think the goal was ever for NXT to overtake Dynamite, it was just meant to stifle them at a vulnerable moment which they have very successfully done I feel. I hear what Dave says, he got a lot of experience, but nowadays most of the times I don’t listen or agree with him at all. It’s his opinion. He’s obviously rooting for AEW. So am I, but we have to be realistic. AEW is on its worst moment ever. Something needs to be done. And now that shit with Bryan getting injured again (kayfabe or not, I’m not sure because it was Andrade again 🤔) it’s not good for business. Seems like Bryan running away from the backlash of CM Punk firing 🤷🏻‍♂️. It’s not looking great. TNA might be the number 2 option coming 2024. I used to watch AEW regularly, but things shifted when Tony bought ROH. There were suddenly so many more titles and tournaments, and Tony kept continuously bringing in even more ex-WWE guys. There's an oversaturation of older wrestlers, titles, tournaments, and now even shows.
How compelling is it when many of your most featured storylines involve middle-aged guys who were much better ten-twenty years ago, it feels like every other wrestler has a belt of some kind, and the rest of the show features cold matches just for the sake of a technically good match?
