Nice video. I'm thinking about building an aluminum boat trailer. I'm new to welding, just had a couple of classes, but I love the stuff. Once I get 220 ran into my garage, I plan to get to welding at home.
I wish I knew how to weld aluminum, I plan on learning this summer and one of the first things I want to build is an aluminum sled trailer just like that!!!
No spool gun and your welding aluminum? What size wire are you feeding from your machine? I have a linciln 210mp and would love not to have to use a spool gun if I don't have to
From what I've heard welding aluminium trailers is a bad idea because welding them removes the temper completely. This can lead to cracking under continous fatigue stress. So bolting with (stainless steel) bolts is better. I would like to learn welding and love the idea of welding an aluminium RV trailer. But from what I've read it's actually a bad idea to weld it, especially for the structural connections. So did it last? Thanks for the video!
hi i just replaced the center piece of my trailer the square tube where connects to the hitch with a 3x3 x 6` 8" long 1/8 thickness, the trailer is 22` long and the boat is 19` 6' i am afraid that is may be not strong enough, what do you think ? any answer would be appreciated, thank you
+WickedOutdoors You can use the same wire as you use in a spool gun, but if you use the same mig gun for steel you'll probably get contamination from the inner lining.
Yo 3DMachines, I've been looking on CL for some time now for a yz250. Now I know you don't like "2 jokers" haha but I have always wanted one. Anyway, I was wondering how you think I'd do on a 250 since that is a huge jump from what I currently ride, a ttr230. I know I should get a 125 to start but I'm 6'1" and 220 lbs so I'm pretty damn sure I can handle it at least until I get used to the power band and take it to an amazing track I ride at. Is it a good idea to buy the 250? Also I don't need to get a yamaha I was seeing rm250s rm450fs and other stuff but just wanted your input. And one quick question, is paying 3g's for an 06 yz250 with a few aftermarket stuff on it and a rebuilt top and bottom end worth it? Thanks again!
lol,, he's not building a bridge or towing a tank,, its for dirtbikes and will be fine, well actually its been a year now and it hasnt broke, bent or failed in any way,, so its built perfectly for its purpose,, maybe your right if the purpose of the trailer was to tow cars or anything heavier than the weight of 3 dirtbikes,, take your hate somewhere else,, he did a great job for his first trailer build and btw his professor wouldve told him if it couldnt handle the weight for what its intended for and wouldve advised him to weld in more structural support,, its supposed to be lightweight. your a poor example of a person because what you say is irrelevant ,its not a bridge ok so take your nonsense somewhere where it is relevant and point is valid,, your just an internet troll, a hater,,, a keyboard rebel.,, someone that needs to say shite online to others to either belittle them, bring them down or to elevate yourself.

Cool, I want to build a trailer at about that size and all in Aluminium too.

How much did this cost??
My dad built a trailer just like that one.
lol late comment but did u have to use special wire cause of aluminum

TekkyTPvP what ever makes you happy but id go with the 250 b4 the 125.
are you jared streit? you look mad familiar haha
what qualifications do you have
how did you get tags for it?
What is the thickness of the aluminum profile used in the chassis?
I believe it was listed as being 1/4" in the intro.
Poor example of structural design.

karl wood rekt
are u going to make a four wheeler trailer
Hey just letting you know that its hard on camera's to record welding it can actually end up ruining your camera, just a head up
YamahaKid229 Thanks, I only record it once in a great while. Just this video for this year prolly.
My dad and I just redecked our aluminum trailer cuz the wood was beat up and it was a pain in the ass to get the wood out so we had to saw it out.
Adrenaline WI you gotta use stainless otherwise steel bolts with rust quicker
Yeah, when we bought our sleds, it came with it so wasn't really our choice.
sweet
Whens the next part of this build?
lucas07770 next week or so
When are you going to uploaded another video
Why are you working on the floor
Aluminum trailer... damn why didn't I think of that, hope you didn't copyright that idea!
They are pretty common, if steel wasn't so much cheaper most trailers would probably be aluminum for corrosion resistance alone.
Guy looks like Christian Bale from American Psycho.
ah fuck! i want more right now! not have time to whait :)
