- In this one, we put the ArcCaptain Mig 200 welder through its paces with the spool gun to complete an ATV trailer modification. The mission on this one was to widen the trailer to give the customer more room when loading his Side by Side. It had it's challenges, but we got it done! Hope you guys enjoy! Thanks for watching!

Your design allow the customer to add side boards to haul dirt or sand… great concept
Thanks, and thank you for watching!
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing and providing your insight on the ArcCaptain.
@@danramos281 You’re welcome. Thank you for watching!
This wat utube meant for! Great stuff!
When your welding set up is for aluminum the tips you use the hole is actually bigger than a steel tip. The reason is aluminum’s heat expansion is dramatically greater than a steel wire. So a .030 aluminum tip is a bit bigger than a steel .030 for that reason. They engineer in for the expansion, but if you run it to hot for the size of the wire it over expands.
Good info. Thank you, and thanks for watching!
If your having problems with the tips bump to the next size up tip from the wire your running it gives that aluminum wire room to expand and not get stuck in the tip it helps a lot. Some of that looks like it could be poor quality tips I’ve had that be an issue before also
Congrats on 100 videos of super good content accomplishment! Very cool squirt gun class for this novice! I like the the solution for the latches. 🏁
Thanks brother! I hope I can continue to provide meaningful, Informative, and entertaining content. Thank you for watching, it means a lot!
Miller Spoolmatic 15 & 30 use beefer tips that are a few thousands larger orfice hole to prevent binding.
The miller diffuser is 1/4" npt.
The profax catalog list size demensions of USA made guns.
You could probably make and adapter to adapt to miller to Arc Capton.
Impressive work you do.
Good info, thanks, and thank you for watching!
Tips are definitely different
Always good content ! Keep up the good work
Thank you, I appreciate that.
Fine work as always. I would love to see a video on how you get your clients. If you were able to, breakdown each project you have done and explain how they got in contact with you for the welding work. As a new mobile welder trying to breakout, its hard figure out the marketing
I usually try to explain how I got the job at the first of the video, but I will see if I can go into more detail. I could definitely talk more about how I got my consistent clients. That’s a good suggestion. I will do my best to get that answered. Thanks for watching!
I don't think you could have dreamed up a better way to solve the problem without going for a wider axle . Good job brother . :)
Haven’t done much with a spool gun but I do love how easy and quick it is compared to other ways of welding aluminum
I actually prefer a push pole gun, but can’t exactly afford one at the moment. Thanks for watching!
I have yet to try the spool gun that cane with my PrimeWeld MIG 180. I should probably pull that out and test it out. As soon as I have some free time. Whenever that will be. 😂
I know exactly what you mean there. I guess the only reason I was able to take the time to test mine out is because the same thing that takes up all my time is the same thing that makes me able to test out a spool gun. Lol.
Buy a push pull for that new miller you have, it’s a game changer. You will never use a spool gun again. Keep up the good work!
I am looking at buying the 355 pulse and setting it up for aluminum with an alumapro
push/pull gun for heavy aluminum. Thanks for watching!
@@Freedomfabrication777 I have that setup, once you get it dialed in, you can weld .090 outside corners with ease. It’s worth every penny. I use 3/64th 4943 Hobart wire. Never a bird nest. It just works.
@@chuckreid1875 glad to hear it. Thanks for the info. Now all I need to do is save enough coin to pay for it.
Yea bud I have to run a different tip for my spool gun vs mig, I've run over 8' consecutive with no issues at 190 amps. Great videos very professional work. Love the blooper reels at the end! What is it about turning the camera on and our mouth no longer works lol. Sometimes I have to say things 6-7 times to get it right on my channel.
I’m glad I’m not the only one! As soon as I turn the camera on for some reason, I forget what I was going to say. I appreciate the positive feedback. Thanks for watching!
Excellent content... If you want any one thing too badly, it’s likely to turn out to be a disappointment. The only healthy way to live life is to learn to like all the little everyday things - like a sip of good whiskey in the evening, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk, or a feisty gentleman like yourself.”
With aluminum mig, if there are aluminum specific contact tips available, run them; as you said. What I typically do, is run the next larger size contact tip. Is that the correct way, probably not; but it works great and saves SO much frustration. Also, not to be negative but I really can’t see what was accomplished without moving the fenders. What you did looks great but it was a lot of work for not much improvement.
The Customer just wanted more room. The front wheels fit (barely) between the front fenders, but he just wanted more clearance between the rails. It’s one of those deals where you explain everything to the customer, and let them make the decision from there. That’s what they decided, so that’s what we went with. Thanks for watching!
I understand. Thanks for the reply.
ive had the sane problem running flux stainless wire , the wire gets hot and sticks in the tip causing burn back so i switched to next side up so if your runninf 035 try a 045 or a 3/64 tip fixed my problem . i was using 045 and switched to 052 and sometimes ill use 1/16 if im really burning hot and running longer beads 4043 is soft to start compared to 5356 wire on alum sometimed the swithch will help also good luck and a good vid on aluminun
Thanks for the suggestions, and thank you for watching!
Best welding and fab on TH-cam.
Holy smokes! Those are big shoes to fill. Thanks, that’s nice of you to say. Thank you for watching!
Bon Boulo😆😆👍👍
Looks like you have that spool gun dialed in pretty good.Nice work
It runs good if I can keep the tip from gumming up. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the insight on the spool gun. I have an older Miller 212 with a spool gun and I like it. It’s a little finicky with amps setting, feed rate and time used too. Always a challenge to keep it from melting back. I prefer to tig but if I have a lot of inches I like the gun! Congratulations on your success and thank you for taking time to take us all on the journey!
I feel like all types of MIG aluminum are finicky. It just a very complicated metal to work with. Thank you for the feedback, and thank you for watching!
Aluminum is a pain compared to steel. I have used a size bigger tip. Just go one size up. Like 035 tip with 030 wire.
I like a nice long stick out for spool gun welding
Nice work! I need to dial in my spool gun skills. The arc captain spool gun looks better built then then the primeweld one that came with my primeweld machine
I think for an entry level gun, it’s built pretty well. I was getting just a little bit nervous because I was using an entry level machine for industrial level work, and it was on the very edge of its limits. But you know how it goes, gotta use your tools and equipment within their limits and capabilities, or it can get hairy pretty fast. Luckily we pulled this one off. 🤪
I have a snapon mt 350 with a spool gun , I find if I have the wire speed very fast ( faster than I think it should be ) I don’t melt the tips , I also like to pre heat so it easier to zip across, and get the weld it .
Congrats on 100 videos! I've been watching for a while now and I really enjoy you and your content. Keep the videos comin' !
Thanks John, I watch and enjoy your channel as well. Thanks for the feedback, and as always, thanks for watching!
@@Freedomfabrication777 Thank you!!
Congratulations on the 101st video.👍
I don't know if the Arc Captain has a post flow option on it but if it does , using it might help you save some of those tips. I was getting frustrated just seeing that. Like Yoda would say, great patience you have. 👌
Let’s put it this way, it’s a good thing it was on time lapse, cause i would’ve had to edit a lot more than I did. Thanks for watching!
What size wire were you using? That's alot of contact tips for those small runs. Project looked great.
.030 Lincoln 4043 superglaze wire. Thanks for watching!
Take a file to the welder spalls on the square and hit it with ceramic spray it’ll be fine I’ve don’t it to mine a couple times
I’ll give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching!
@@Freedomfabrication777 you put out good content and a very skilled at what you do I always try to tune in
@@gearhead181 thanks, that means a lot.
The contact tips i use for ali have an A prefix after the tip size 1.2A or for everyone else 0.45A. The inner diameter of the tip is slightly larger inside to compensate for the wire expansion as it gets hot
I assumed they had to be different. I’m using .035 wire, but I’m sure it’s just what you’re saying, slightly larger for expansion. I’ll be ordering some more aluminum tips here shortly. Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
On video looks like you were dragging instead of pulling with the spool gun even on straight seams. Is there a reason why you did in that way? I always do pull with the spool gun except awkward seams like you had on angle - I try to do almost 90 degrees.
BYU fan? What do you think of Mark Pope coming to Kentucky? Also great video as always!
I think he has some great strengths as a Coach. I hope Kentucky likes watching their team shoot 3 pointers, cause BYU would love and die by the 3. I think that’s just his coaching style. When they’re on, they win, when they’re not, it’s over. Thanks for watching!
@@Freedomfabrication777 I was skeptical at first but after attending the press conference it changed my mind. I’m hoping with the resources and the staff we could put together a pretty good team. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the new Byu coach as well he should do really well!
@@Jwilcher Let’s hope so. I’m not sure if my blood pressure can handle it otherwise. Lol. Hope it works out well for Kentucky as well.
You could have used wheel spacers then moved the fenders out
nice.. whats the thickness of the body of the this trailer
@@jongmedellin4890 All of the material that I added was 1/4” thick. Thanks for watching!
Who did you get your building from?? What brand??
A place called Western steel buildings. They are located in Park city Utah.
Good job , god bless you in your work man!
Thanks, same to you man! Thanks for watching!
British sub here, love your trump 2024 flag lol
Love to hear that from a British brother from another mother. Let’s hope he can keep fighting the fight and pull it off. Thanks for watching, and God bless!
@@Freedomfabrication777 we need him over here! 😂
@@barnzYT I think a lot of countries would be better off with someone like Trump that is a business man and not a politician. Someone that believes in limited government control. It’s a pretty good indication that he’s the right guy for the job when the government is doing everything in their power to keep him out of there. What does that tell you? Keep the faith brother. I still believe if he gets into office here, it’s a win for Britain too. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Good stuff and thanks for making it. I dig the description of the different stages in the process of fixing but next time can you provide a little more technical info on the different stages. I’m a newb with aluminum mig thanks and the troubleshooting tip info was great🫶🫶
I will try to give more information on the different stages aimed at beginners. Thank you for the feedback, and thanks for watching!
TRUMP 2024! I knew you were a MAGA guy!
Heck yes I am. I like a booming economy, cheap fuel, a healthy 401k, low unemployment, and safe borders. All those things that make America a great place to live. Let’s hope we get that again. Thanks for watching!
I am sick of that stupid music it ruins all of your videos
