i have cinema 4d. I go to new, cinema 4d file. i try to add it and it says an error. Code: A_Err_GENERIC : this version of AE requires an installation of Cinema 4d r25. This can be installed by the AE installer. ( 0 :: 1 )

Did not work for me. C4D R26 installed but after effects does not let me set path. Just an error saying this version of AE requires an installation of C4D R25 or higher.

I think i migth of found the answer to our problem, In the adobe support community it is said that version 22.0 of After effects is not compatible with C4D r25, you have to install R24 for it to work, however, if you need C4D r25, you have to install an earlier version of after effects like the 2021 version wich is compatible, this compatibility problem it is said to be solved in the future, hope I helped =)
