Brother i have logo vector already in illustrator then the steps was change?
You've gotta do the same steps
Ive Read Thru All Yur Comments And Im Still Having Issues, Once I Set It To 3D The Wholes In Letters Like D & O Return To Being All Solid. Is It Possible Im Doing Something Wrong??
Hi, in that case when you have holes in letters or logos you could add merge paths option, available in the Add button, same as adding Path. But make sure you put it before fill effect. For example it would be:
Path 1
Path 2
Merge paths 1
Fill
Also make sure to set merge paths mode to subtract.
@@SmertimbaGraphics Do We Add A Merge Paths Layer For Each Letter Wit Holes? Or How Does That Work? Thanks For Replying.
can I have the is there a shortcut where I can put many mask paths into the paths?
Not that I am aware of, maybe there's a plugin for that
@@SmertimbaGraphicsactually nvm I found another of your videos that also deals with 3d rotating logos and ty for uploading these videos it helps a lot
Thank you for watching them videos😁
I'm doing this with a black logo, and the light doesn't shine on it on either color. How can I make it cast a white spot light over it?
You gotta play around with the material options for a black logo to appear, also you could set it to off-black instead of pure black.
@@SmertimbaGraphics thanks a lot!
Great tutorial but how do u add detail to the shape
How do u add inside details ?? Of a logo
If you mean textures like a bump map for the surface, you can't do it this way, you need to use cinema 4d or other 3d software
I think there is a step missing. The m mask doesn't work for some reason on my png. the Add button doesn't appear. Maybe there is some kind of workaround?
Add button is available only on shape layers. Also M button will show masks only if a layer has them
i finished everything and rendered the logo but it doesnt come out as png and has a black background. do you know how to fix
To render with transparent background check out this video: th-cam.com/video/GkSSOGz6eaE/w-d-xo.html
Hello friend, I'm starting with AE and I don't speak English, please help me with the template
Hi, how can I help
@@SmertimbaGraphics It is difficult for me to go step by step in the tutorial, since I do not understand English, I have to use the translator to write to you, if you can send me the project, please

Thank you.... Thank you...

How come it won’t let me check cast shadows when on spot light ?
Is the option greyed out or something
can i apply that effect on logo with caractère ?
it really depends on the logo, short answer is yes
@@SmertimbaGraphics i cant do it
Try other methods of a 3d logo if this one doesn't work 😁
Hello there, I'm working with a black logo and the light isn't really working. Would you please tell me what I can do
How about changing the color to something dark grey?
@@SmertimbaGraphics thanks for the reply. I actually changed the angle and direction of the spotlight and it somewhat worked and thanks for the video too, it really helped.
On my AE 2020, its said "After Effects error: CINEMA 4D: Render Failed" what should i do? Thanks anyway :)
Do you have cinema 4d installed? It should come with ae by default
Hi, I have followed these steps precisely, but have found that the mask is going to the border of the composition and not the logo. Logo is a PNG at high quality. White on a black background. Really weird as it worked perfectly on the last logo I worked on.
The answer? If alpha channel isn't working (goodness knows why) use luminence in the check box
Yeah, alpha is the outline, if the logo is not a png and has a background it will capture whatever's at the edges, so using luminance could do the job in some cases
@@SmertimbaGraphicsi had the same problem and unfortunately your no help at all
if i put cinema 4d it crashes
Seems like you are missing cinema 4d renderer. It comes with after effects when installing
My paths feature a letter D and A so has a punch out. Whats best here? It currently fills it

@@SmertimbaGraphics Thank you!! That has worked... But only sorted the A and now I can only seem to fill the A and not the D.... Any ideas? Thank you in advance
It should work the same for letter D though 🤔
what if i have more than 2 masks? Im wokring on roatating a photoshop image of 137 masks
For that many masks you could try a different method that's easier like this one: th-cam.com/video/hjcmafZQqHg/w-d-xo.html
Every time I change Merge (under Merge Paths) to subtract it seems to unfill the color on every letter but the first!! How do I fix this? 😢
Is the order set like this?
Path 1
Path 2
Merge paths 1
Fill
@@SmertimbaGraphics yeah my order is set like that, however, I have 168 paths so when I add merge paths then fill. I only see the H come up in the Fill colour the rest of the logo doesn’t. Hope that makes sense
Plus some parts of the logo will subtract other bits won’t, don’t really understand why. For context, my logo has writing either side (top and bottom) with a logo design in the middle.
@@d1inplainsight Not really sure about that. Have you tried other 3d logo methods? there is one that requires less work to get done, like this: th-cam.com/video/AncnuhGuzvE/w-d-xo.html
@@SmertimbaGraphics I'm specifically trying to recreate the 3D spin animation, this tutorial you sent above didn't really help me with that. Much appreciated though

Hey man, when I click fill nothing happens. The mask just stays empty. Any idea why?
Hmm, what's the order before you add fill
@@SmertimbaGraphics hey it was actually because I was clicking directly on the path, not on the keyframe under the “path 1” when you collapse it. Thanks anyway man! Great video.
Hi, I have a picture and when I auto-trace it connects the edges of the picture and it doesn't connect the edges of my logo so when I hide the image it just shows as a rectangle. Any help?
try using different channels for auto trace and play around with threshold

Hey, so my logo has both a 'B' and an 'O' in it. When I do this it only takes away the fill in the 'B' even if I do two merge layers... Any suggestions?

Set layers in the following way:
path 1
path 2
merge path (set to subtract)
fill 1

i need a card graph for use cinema?
Do you mean a graphics card? If yes, then you need one regardless in order to run after effects
Thanks!!!!

the light on my logo is not right how to i chang ethe light position etc
You can select the light layer and use its transform settings to move it, like P for position, R for rotation.

@@SmertimbaGraphics my logo has 130 Path, do I need to apply this to all of them ? And once I’m done add fill?
I mean this method is more suitable for simple shapes where you get a few paths, but 130 is too much, i think you should use a different method of 3d logo.
But anyway, you need to do this to each individual letter, like letter O for example, then like letter A separately.
So the logo has to be a solid design?
as long as it's traceable
@@SmertimbaGraphics once I select 3d it fills the entire logo in and makes it solid
I get it, if there's too much stuff going on in your logo you might wanna use a different approach, something like this: th-cam.com/video/AncnuhGuzvE/w-d-xo.html
@@SmertimbaGraphics do you have any online courses or anything available?
Unfortunately I currently don't have anything like that😁
I have 200 paths, is there a faster way to do the copy and paste process
Not really, you could use a different method though, without having to deal with paths, I'll link it just in case.

How do I do it without changing the color of the logo

nice man, my project has 107 paths how do i copy all the paths

What is the name of the program?
After effects
Is this transparent background ?
It should be if you don't add a solid in the background
what app or exact software you use?
Adobe after effects 2022 in this example
🔥 useful
Thank you 🔥😁
Does it works in AE 2018??
It should work fine yes
Would this work for texts
Yeah, but text is easy, you don't have to copy paths, you can extrude directly in text layer.
@@SmertimbaGraphics wow alright that’s 💜
I’m unable to add a path in contents. The option does not show up
What after effects version do you use?
even when I use png file it doesnt support geometry options 🙃
Yeah the png itself won't work. You have to trace the outlines and extract the masks to a shape layer that can be made into a 3d object
What if you have more than 100 mask paths???
I suggest you go for a different method😁
This one for example: th-cam.com/video/AncnuhGuzvE/w-d-xo.html
