I've been working with after effects for the past 12 years and knew most of the shortcuts and some more (press U to open/hide all key frames) yet the 17 minute video felt like watching a 2 minutes crash course. One of the best after effects tutorial I've watched. Keep it up guys. I'm gonna promote and share this with many more.
Holy moly, you taught me like two days of trial&error in 17 minutes! It's very obvious that you actually enjoy not only tinkering with AEE, but also the actual teaching. You are amazing.
Dude this is the best tutorial ive ever seen. I love how you don't go too fast and don't gloss over minor details that get you super lost with other tutorials. I look forward to doing more with you. Thanks bro
NOW YOU ARE A REAL TEACHER....i have watched other videos and all they did was did moves. But never really explain why they are moving the way they are moving. Which told me that they were just copying others, but I can tell you know what you are doing. thanks, so merch....lolllll
Dude you just made me leap from Photoshop to AE this program was so intimidating I would turn it on and then just turn it off. Your vid has helped me so much!! Thank you Sir! Subscribed for life!!
Wow! Blew my mind here with this one...didn't know this was possible. I'm a C4D guy mainly and comp in AE. Nick, this is your jam...this tech is great for showing traditional graphic designers how to comp 3D styleframes. Agree with below, very Video Co Pilot style...amazing tips, focused, and funny/relaxed. Great job!
The intro music is soooooo nice.... BTW... One of my new favorite channels actually, since I started having interest in C4D recently. Nice touch with the AE tutorials.
Nice tutorial after seen this I have found another nice tutorial with 3d isometric animation in after effects and explained very detail: th-cam.com/video/_NT94JDSYkU/w-d-xo.html
"Woah Nick you have no idea what your doing. And that may be true in other parts of my life,..." LMAO. I usually just watch a tutorial, like the vid if it helped me, and leave. This comment for some reason just made me want to subscribe. You're very knowledgeable in illustrator I cannot wait to see what else you have to teach me! Thanks for the video Nick, it really helped me!
I'm from China, you know you're famous in China, actually all around the world,Thanks for your Cinema 4D and After Effects etc tutorial, follow your instgram, vimeo, youtube channal, really enjoyed them, one day you may come to China, many guys hope for that haha!
If you click the "1 view" dropdown and select "2 views" then click on the "active camera" dropdown and select "custom view 1" then you'll be able to see a secondary view of your 3d space which can help with placing lights and other objects spatially.
Nice tutorial after seen this I have found another nice tutorial with 3d isometric animation in after effects and explained very detail: th-cam.com/video/_NT94JDSYkU/w-d-xo.html
What is great about the approach from GSC is that it tackles 3D in a way that other tutorials don't. To add to the coolness, is that it comes from the C4D experts and that in itself is ultra cool!
Nice tutorial after seen this I have found another nice tutorial with 3d isometric animation in after effects and explained very detail: th-cam.com/video/_NT94JDSYkU/w-d-xo.html
I seem to be having an issue where the beveled edges are too sharp and don't catch the light. Is there some setting that I have missed? Currently they look like black strokes. Edit: Just found the problem. The stroke color was set to black; making it transparent solved the issue.
Awesome tutorial But I can't find "CINEMA 4D" in "Renderer" I only have Classic 3D and "Ray-traced 3D" so I can't find "Geometry Options" for my text, can you help me ?

The lights are hell to work with. Right now I'm stuck without a visual representation of the light position. The bevels on the text are also black, and I can't find a way to add texture to my text's surface.. After Effects sure is something first getting into!
@@Lgarbss I found a workaround. There's a button in the effects menu called "Animate" which gives you a bevel color option. I just went in there and changed it to the same color as my letters. (Result in the first seconds of my latest video.) Weird how it's needed, but it works. Still haven't found a way to get a more realistic texture though.

I'm getting black convex bevels on my extruded letters. Assume it has to be the surface normals? How do I make the bevels the same color as the text? Thanks for your tutorial, lots of info there.
Thank you for the clear tutorial! Just one question, what if I just keep the renderer in classic 3d? Cause I saw that it disables a lot of things that I've used in my projects like motion blur and stuffs..
Thank you Nick for such great tutorial! I am still a begginer for these kind of subjects and it was really easy to understand the process... also, I wanted to ask, does 3D shaping has the same process for objects I bring to AE from AI? Thanks!

I’ve followed all instructions but when I rotate it the text it’s self doesn’t do anything? There’s like a box around it that does move with the 3d colored arrow things
super cool video, thanks for sharing this! Is it possible to add texture and material as well to the 3d text, like for instance giving it a rough golden texture?

For anyone having issues with the colour of the extrusion, select the shape layer and on the top of the screen change the fill colour.
Do you know how to extend how long the 3d text lasts. I’m new to adobe after effects
Thanks a lot! Made my first 3d object with you tutorial :)

Should I switch back to the Classic 3D renderer after I finish my composition or keep it?

Sorry in the end how did you get the rotation tool to show up like that ? You said press c?
guys a genius
2:43 Just to clarify - the text at this point is not 3D. Checking the box basically makes it a 2D layer in a 3D space.
Immediately subscribed!
