Even if they added DRM in a new version: -Obviously people will find a way around it, it will be just harder -People will still be able to download older "free" versions and they won't be missing out on many, good new features anyway. Most of the new stuff is AI anyway, and it doesn't work on "free" versions anyway, because it needs connection to Creative Cloud.
their stuff used to be a one time purchase thing, but during that time I was a student and couldnt afford it so I had to yarhar it thinking "when i get a job i can finally own a real copy" theeeeeeen they did this service guess im pirating for life.
I wouldn't say they don't care. They do try to make it harder for other people to copy/pirate their programs (which doesn't always work as they expected since this change happened in 2012) For example, Adobe introduced the subscription model and removed the " one-time buy" option. The permanent buy was easier for others to copy than their subscription model. Also: Adobe doesn't directly take the actions (or maybe they do, idk) But tutorials for pirating are taken down from youtube (And when I checked it out of curiosity: youtube restricted my account because of my search. Like.. I pay for Creative Cloud, I had no reason, but .. interesting) Adobe also added a Genuine Program Application, which scans your software for legality. Otherwise, it is true. But maybe they don't bother that much because the pirated versions are never anything like their official program: no updates, problems, especially when you add pirated plug-ins, etc. doesn't run that smooth and crashes several times and, more importantly, no support or fixes. They also offer their programs mainly for professional use, such as commercials or movies. It is unlikely that people with this level will rely on pirated version because it ruins their reputation and trustworthiness. Coming from a person who used pirated versions and is now an official subscriber.
Also the amount of people who use it pirated is still better than no body using it since it keeps the popularity high and the enterprises usually have to pay it to avoid legal consecuences. Kinda like winrar letting you use it even if you don't pay you are another user in the graphics and enterprises have to pay it
My 12th grade computer science class (that took place in the wonderful year 2023) had me using Adobe Flash Professional CS4... from 2008... Yeah. It was an online course so we were responsible for getting the school to provide us with the software but if we didn't want to use a school device, we were kinda screwed cause it was from **2008** But the teacher made a post on the class management portal saying "For those who have been unable to source the required software for the course, I should point out that it is deffinetly *NOT* possible to do a google search to get the needed installer and product key, and as your teacher it would be wrong of me to condone any such activities"
My aunt used to have a USB full of pirated uptdated Adobe products. It was a gold mine for me. Too bad we switched to purchasing the genuine subscription (bad ending). It honestly feels better having a huge catalogue with you forever for completely free than paying 20 bucks monthly over something you'll never own even when it's genuine.
what you said in the video was correct! but, i still don't like it when content creators talk about things they barely know anything about. and especially when they use ChatGPT as their primary source of information (and/or do not give their sources of information in the description). it just ends up being someone rambilng about a very technical topic they don't understand, with a bunch of cool editing effects but! your video was still pretty good and informative, you've explained the adobe situation pretty well, you just didn't go that much into detail
I think Adobe ignoring piracy to some extent also helps keep their products relevant. The layman uses the pirated software and learns the ecosystem. Then ends up working for companies that uses or could use Adobe products (and pay enterprise pricing for, aka the real money maker). Since that's all they know, the companies can't really move elsewhere even if Adobe keeps jacking prices up. Captive income.
i think they just don't care because companies still have to pay for it, because they actually need to care about their workers using legally-obtained tools. if individuals pirate adobe products, it still means they get more users and can maintain their monopoly on the creative space. it's the same reason why winrar is free :)
That's because some lawyer, I mean liar, will find out about those processes and take the crackers to court. Then, because the lawyer is typically rich pond scum, they win the lawsuit, and the crack gets taken down.
Great video, loved the editing, the sound could be improved though, your background music is too high and some tracks are louder than others. I suggest nesting all the music tracks into one and putting a compressor on it with a low threshold and low gain. Sounds complicated but it genuinely takes like 3 clicks. Also nest and put a compressor on your voiceover track with a higher gain and threshold, settings vary but I suggest just playing around with the threshold on both the voiceover track and the music track until it sounds right. This will make your audio a lot more consistent
bill gates "And as long as they're going to steal it, we want them to steal ours. They'll get sort of addicted, and then we'll somehow figure out how to collect sometime in the next decade."
Honestly if you think about it, yes, they simply do not care. If they did they would've made it hard to pirate like a decade ago. And this also makes new people to start learning, there would be a time where you would need it for a professional setting and then be forced to buy their programs. But at the same time I do feel like they could potentially earn more if they lower their ridiculous prices. but yeah. also pirating is extremly hard especially with bad internet, and a bad 15 year old pc that barely runs and freezes like every 20 minutes. (totally not talking abt myself)
it's the same system as windows piracy, they specifically make it easy to not lose market share to similar free or cheaper apps and once you're working for an actual company that's when they extract profit off you
It's still possible to get around Denuvo if someone sets up ways to get a valid token, like they did with Jedi: Survivor. Completely removing Denuvo is extremely difficult though
Brazilian speaking here, is it serious that you can be arrested for pirating abroad or is it just a joke, because here in Brazil we pirate for the reason that it doesn't make sense with our salary to buy such things, (I'm talking about Brazilians with a minimum wage) especially the Adobe basically rents products like streaming, and piracy in Brazil is practically a part of our history, PS2 only did well here because it was unlocked for pirated games, I still remember going to stores to buy those modified GTAs and several games paying just 3 reais (0.53 cents at the current price), it was magical, Brazilian childhood is beautiful.
You yourself pirating a program can lead you to jail, but using a pirated software is no big deal since you're just a consumer of it. I'm no Brazilian, but it's probably fine to use pirated stuffs, as long as you are not the pirate or you are working in the industry (using a pirated software as a professional can lead you to legal issues)
@@charliepea Generating a pirated product here in Brazil was a crime in the past, but justice gave up to focus on important things, such as making our lives more difficult with higher taxes and banning social networks like X Edit:I'm using Google Translate, but I'm trying to learn how to speak
We'll sadly it doesn't work anymore you get a message now which says that you'll be granted only 5 days to switch to the original adobe softwares and there's no way to close that message
There is likely another reason and that's the fact that Adobe also wants you to pirate their software. Why? because it strengthens the whole "Adobe programs are better" argument and when you pirate their software you become used to their software so you aren't as likely to move to the alternatives, this coupled with the fact that their software can reach a larger audience due to pirating..

Even if they added DRM in a new version:
-Obviously people will find a way around it, it will be just harder
-People will still be able to download older "free" versions and they won't be missing out on many, good new features anyway.
Most of the new stuff is AI anyway, and it doesn't work on "free" versions anyway, because it needs connection to Creative Cloud.
Substance is not like blender. In fact, substance is mostly a texturing tool and not a modeling or animating tool.
Its not just about subscription only, when you cancel the subscription there are additional charges applied. Like just let me go 😢 freely atleast
Why is bro underrated?
their stuff used to be a one time purchase thing, but during that time I was a student and couldnt afford it so I had to yarhar it thinking "when i get a job i can finally own a real copy"
theeeeeeen they did this service
guess im pirating for life.
I wouldn't say they don't care.
They do try to make it harder for other people to copy/pirate their programs (which doesn't always work as they expected since this change happened in 2012)
For example, Adobe introduced the subscription model and removed the " one-time buy" option. The permanent buy was easier for others to copy than their subscription model.
Also: Adobe doesn't directly take the actions (or maybe they do, idk)
But tutorials for pirating are taken down from youtube
(And when I checked it out of curiosity: youtube restricted my account because of my search.
Like.. I pay for Creative Cloud, I had no reason, but .. interesting)
Adobe also added a Genuine Program Application, which scans your software for legality.

Yeah. I learned flash programing in 2023 - y'know...*after* flash became deprecated.... anyway.

It honestly feels better having a huge catalogue with you forever for completely free than paying 20 bucks monthly over something you'll never own even when it's genuine.

what you said in the video was correct! but, i still don't like it when content creators talk about things they barely know anything about. and especially when they use ChatGPT as their primary source of information (and/or do not give their sources of information in the description).
it just ends up being someone rambilng about a very technical topic they don't understand, with a bunch of cool editing effects
but! your video was still pretty good and informative, you've explained the adobe situation pretty well, you just didn't go that much into detail
Audio mixing is rough but pretty good vid
I got an adobe ad before this video.
Funny I got a adobe photoshop ad when I started the video XD
i think they just don't care because companies still have to pay for it, because they actually need to care about their workers using legally-obtained tools. if individuals pirate adobe products, it still means they get more users and can maintain their monopoly on the creative space.
it's the same reason why winrar is free :)
the issue is, how tf do I do it. I searched for 2h and couldnt a pirated version
You spent most of this video not explaining why Adobe's Creative Cloud is so easy to pirate...

Despite being the subscription based monetization there seems to no significant improvement or development on these apps..

Good Video, nice stuff. Only thing that bothered me a little bit. The volume of the music is a bit too loud (f.e. at 6:20 onward)
3:26 you watch noodle don’t you ;)
how did you know?
it's the same system as windows piracy, they specifically make it easy to not lose market share to similar free or cheaper apps and once you're working for an actual company that's when they extract profit off you
oh god the pirates of the caribbean reference i already love this video
It's funny how the creative cloud piracy is always updated while gaming piracy is stagnating due to denuvo DRM.
It's still possible to get around Denuvo if someone sets up ways to get a valid token, like they did with Jedi: Survivor. Completely removing Denuvo is extremely difficult though
I "allegedly" do it because they shut down my favorite flash games.
I love how based on mexican laws, you literally own a pirated copy of Photoshop more than you own a paid copy

If they made it 1$ a month piracy would go away almost immediately form this software
@@charliepea Generating a pirated product here in Brazil was a crime in the past, but justice gave up to focus on important things, such as making our lives more difficult with higher taxes and banning social networks like X

Substance Painter and Designer are industry standard software its just a more niche field than photo and video editing
I’d go with open source stuff, but different people like different things.
We'll sadly it doesn't work anymore you get a message now which says that you'll be granted only 5 days to switch to the original adobe softwares and there's no way to close that message
And that is when you delete the program and pirate again! Adobe doesn't deserve a single penny

Another reason they don't care about piracy is that it was pirated versions in the first place that made their software so popular.
