this is really interesting, i own a ex racing greyhound he is the sweetest, most gentle docile dog, but i noticed he doesnt like small areas, for example when we take him to the dog wash its a small fenced area and he just refuses to go in.. now i can understand why
I work in sled dog racing. Ive seen alot of bad stuff. Greyhound racing was just made illegal in florida. Hopefully Sled dog racing will be next. Breeding dogs to race is not good. It wasn't these dogs intended purpose anyway. Grey hounds were hunting dogs, sled dogs ran mail and stuff. (inuits uses for them were even more varied) The racing was always an offshoot. If so you'll know what patience it takes to socialise them to the real world (which they miss out on due to being in kennels), how scared they can be of men, of other breeds, of almost everything! Compare a homed greyhound to a racing greyhound in kennels - the racer is a shell of a dog on autopilot. it is once you try to put them in a normal pet situation that their awful socialisation becomes apparent! They love to run I agree, but I'm pretty sure they would prefer to be in a loving home than a kennel. And those are the greyhounds who make it through. But easier not to mention the 1000 greyhounds who die yearly as a result of the racing industry, right? Thank god for the charities who take these beautiful dogs in, once they no longer make any money for the industry.

Some are skiddish and need time to adjust but that''s because their whole world has been shaken. They've been taken away from their kennel mates and handlers and put into a strange home with strange people. How do you expect them to act? They love their kennel life. They get to play and have fun with all their kennel mates. They get plenty of love from their handlers. No greyhounds that have come through me have ever been scared of men or women. They are just a bit confused and may shy away until they learn that this is their new normal. Then they open up and become sweet, funny, crazy, lovable greyhounds that they were before they retired.
This is so disgusting. I have a retired racing greyhound and now I understand why he screams and howls when put in his crate and left alone. I swear the only reason the people who work at a racetrack care about the greyhounds physical wellbeing is because they care about their ability to race. Of course the hounds look fine and unbothered, this is how they've been treated since they were puppies. They don't know anything else.

Back at the kennels, she has a large space to chill out. Your greyhound screams and howls because he doesn't want to be crated. It's great exercise for them and they are happiest when they are at the track on race day. Greyhounds aren't used for money except by lying, evil, scam activist groups that use the greyhounds to get donations from saps that believe their lies. They use those donations for their salaries, advertising and lavish vacation, but never towards helping greyhounds at all. Racing greyhounds are very expensive to keep. Owners have to pay kennel fees, track fees, food, Vet care and insurance so they do not get rich from their greyhound. Some don't break even at all, some lose money. It's not a get rich easy scheme. This is such a depressing video. Those poor dogs constantly being pushed and locked away into dark kennels and crates and getting injuries (or often worse!) all for selfish humans and their greed. @@mapd6831 Hey, that's how I ended up wanting (and getting) a greyhound! I got a close look at them, right at the gate, where they were heading off the track to return to the kennel. They were very interested in me, very sociable. Just goofy, friendly dogs. You have to get up close to see the love, and that goes for the people who work there, too.
