You know what makes me smile? My beautiful retired racing greyhound that we rehomed this year, with cats and children, and she doesn't need to jump up at any fence as she's part of our family. She can be her lovely self, mostly sleep but hey. She loves us and we love her.
I've had 3 greyhounds now, and I can say without hesitation that the worst thing you could do to one is to NOT let it race. These are four-legged Ferraris, and they should not be conscripted to a life in traffic stuck behind soccer moms. Let them race! Sure, any human pursuit can be done badly, but God, these dogs are born to run.
I really enjoyed watching this. Mr Knight puts himself across so well and it's plain to see the love he has for the greyhounds and they for him. I think it's sad that greyhound racing isn't getting the backing it needs to make it flourish and that the GBGB don't seem to offer support for it's trainers and owners. I'd like to ask Mr Knight,if in his opinion there is a way forward for the sport and what could be done to capture the publics interest again.
i would like to ask these gentleman how many dogs he has had in his career, how many of them have survived and died of old age, how many are living as a pet with him in his own house, how many were killed because they ware not performing, kill even if in excellent health and young dogs. DON'T TALK ABOUT LOVE when you talk about racing Greyhounds
I always wondered as a kid and I still do now. why people just walk greyhounds and never leave them off the lead for a good run like other dogs. surely a good run would do them better than a walk
@@havanadaurcy1321 never seen a hurdle race for greyhounds..they wouldn't allow hurdle race's here due to injuries and welfare to the dog's..people are trying to banned greyhound racing in Australia 🇦🇺

Well said Mr Knight. Important point about on course decline due to Internet gambling.

Greyhounds have a very high prey drive,so not a good idea if ya neighbours own cats!like
Our next door neighbours....... they have been warned!
They do get offlead time. My greyhound has his own field.
We slip our dogs they get off lead there and at the track on lead when handwalked
Well said mate..follow Australian racing it's the benchmark..we should have a world series the best greyhound
Benchmark in 8 dogs yes, what Aussies don't know is the UK have handicap and hurdle races which actually differ from the norm.
