VLOG: 2 Hour UTV Raptor Tour at Kualoa Ranch | Jurassic Valley & Waiahole Poi Factory!

- In today's Hawaiian adventure, we are taking on a 2 Hour UTV Raptor Tour at Kualoa Ranch! Kualoa is nothing if not the tourist depot of O'ahu, a private nature reserve of more than 4,000 acres on which such Hollywood blockbusters as Jurassic Park (1993), Jumanji (2017) and Kong: Skull Island (2017) filmed key scenes. Across the property we have a variety of tourist activities such as horseback riding, ziplining, a petting zoo and - of course, our chosen activity - UTV tours into the Jurassic Valley! After our 2 Hour adventure through the reserve, and at the recommendation of our incredible tour guides, we made a pit stop at the Waiahole Poi Factory for a taste of some authentic Hawaiian poi with some of the regionally-renowned 'Lady of Waiahole' ice cream! We flew through Kualoa during our helicopter tour, but it was tough to see all of the movie set details from so high up! Best to do both tour experiences so that you don’t miss anything 😁 You would definitely have a blast with the minidrones out in the Valley!

This whole trip offered some absolutely unreal scenery, but the Kualoa UTV ride and the Helicopter Tour were alike were next level when it came to views 😍 And Kualoa is close enough to Aulani that it’s totally doable to get out there one morning! 10/10 would recommend for your future visit. Okay nothing cooler than being in Jurassic valley!!! So awesome that’s where the movies scenes were shot and what incredible views! Be careful and watch out for those raptors haha! Haha love that you could pet a giant tortoise! What a beautiful day for this adventure, everything is so green and that sky is so BLUE! Beautiful. I would take dry over wet too haha. Love the photo opt that you ran away 😂 what an awesome drive. Awesome they have a gift shop with fun jusassic merch! Even pressed pennys for Jurassic valley! Haha. It was truly one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever laid eyes on - the movies do not do Kualoa/the Jurassic Valley justice! 😍 We definitely lucked out with weather, but I think it would have been beautiful even if it was raining. Coconut ice cream was the perfect way to top off our Jurassic adventure, too! 😁 Thanks so much for watching! More Hawaiian fun still on the way!

I would have cried because I love the franchise so much. Not to mention it was gorgeous! 😨 Did Katie say it was dusty? Boo! I was like "omg why didn't they stop where the fake bones were?" And you explain at the end that you did a driving tour. Guessing they have a driving and stopping tour?

😂 I probably should have mentioned earlier on in the video, but there are actually sixteen different tours and activity packages at Kualoa. The package we chose was for more driving and therefore more sightseeing, but less stopping overall. The tour you're thinking of is called the 'Hollywood Movie Sites Tour' and it occurs via bus; we wanted to be adventurous and do the raptors! 😛 As for lunch from Waiahole, we got the combo with Kalua Pork and Chicken. Since there were no tables or chairs at Waiahole and it was strictly grab-and-go, we didn't want to hang out all day and take up one of the very few parking spots while we ate; also, the chickens were getting agitated lol can confirm that it was a solid recommendation, though! Are you allowed to take a hiking backpack on the atv? Or do they restrict it for safety reasons?
Good question! We did have a small bag for our camera gear that was deemed OK for the tour, so my assumption is that you’d be fine with a larger one…however, depending on size and contents you may be in a different situation. They do have $5, all-day lockers onsite for anything that isn’t allowed or convenient to bring with you on the tour, not sure of sizing but that may be an additional option as well. You can always give them a call if you’re worried about it! Very responsive team and happy to answer questions that folks may have. ☺️

I have a question and im confused .. i saw another TH-camr that did the same 2 hr utv tour and this has different things from the tour they took ...is there another utv tour im missing? Thanks !!
So, there are actually as many as six different UTV tours that take place at Kualoa! The tour we booked is actually literally called the '2 Hour UTV Raptor Tour' on their website and is more about taking in the scenery than stopping and plodding through every movie location. Most of the tours will have you canvasing the entire property one way or another, but there are specific tours that focus on the Jurassic Park filming locations, the wildlife, the landscapes, etc. It's also worth mentioning that the tours aren't always consistent due to crowd volume. For example, if a Jurassic Park tour occurs at the same time as a UTV Raptor Tour, the Jurassic Park tour will get priority stops at the Jurassic Park filming locations and your guide for the Raptor Tour may choose to avoid the Jurassic Park areas to keep you clear of all the foot traffic. There's so much to see and do on the property that there's no one tour that covers everything, so they never guarantee that you will get it all done - but they do guarantee that you'll have a great time and that you'll see some really amazing sights no matter what! 😊✨ Hope this helps to clarify!

Hello. I have a question. When you did the 2 hour UTV ride, did you pass by the Kong Boneyard and were you able to stop and take pics
We did pass by the boneyard, but we did _not_ stop for pictures! That is one of the key differences between this tour and others like the Jurassic tour; this particular tour is more focused on the natural beauty of the ranch and the island and less on filming locations from the movies. Hope this helps!
What touring company did you guys rent your atv with?
Kualoa Ranch is actually 4,000 acres of private property, so all tours (ATV, horseback, zipline, etc.) are run by the owners. You can book the UTV tour and/or any other tour straight through the Kualoa Ranch website and management will arrange to have a vehicle ready to transport you upon arrival 🙂
Was driving the ATV easy? Did you have to drive near cliffs?
So easy! It was just like driving an electric car or a golf cart; very smooth and very simplistic. As for the route, there's a number of different UTV tours at Kualoa which may take you in different directions - but the 2-hour UTV tour really doesn't have any exposed or dangerous passages, or even any passages near the edge of a cliff. The closest it ever got was around 02:17 in our video, where we were on a paved, double-wide road leading down into the valley. Not too intimidating, all things considered! 🙂

Do you remember how much you paid for the UTV tour ?
After taxes it came to roughly $150/person for us to do the tour during Christmas week. 🙂 Definitely a little pricey, but worth it!
