We had an amazing time at Ishibashi & tasted the best Sukiyaki we've had to date! Enjoy this experience with us! 😋
P.S: DO NOT WATCH IT ON AN EMPTY STOMACH!
In the spirit of improving & keeping us on our toes, here's how we felt about this video from a technical perspective:-
We had some difficulties as this is our first exposure to filming the cooking concurrently with eating & certain editing magic had to happen to make the video more cohesive. Wei Loon also had some jitters early in the meal as it's a tad awkward with another person from the restaurant watching you eat & commentate about the food, but our Nakai, Kaya-san has been extremely gracious as well as friendly, allowing Wei Loon to settle relatively quickly for a smooth filming experience!
The usual issues with filming at night such as low light problem introducing lots of 'noise' were handled decently. We did have issues with some echo due to the room size but it was held at bay in post production.
All in all it turned out to be a better vlog than we expected & we now have another skill under our belt! Hope you'll enjoy this episode as much as we enjoyed making it! We'll see you in the next one!

Hello! New subscriber here and also from Malaysia. My husband and I are going to Tokyo soon, so for reservation I was wondering when did you call them? Like the same day booking or a few days/weeks before? Just start with English is okay right? I can get by with very basic Japanese but hopefully they can speak English over the phone. BTW, I just discovered your channel today and watched a few videos already... I like how you describe each food so well and choices of words are so fitting when talking about food. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Hello there! Thanks for the kind support & welcome! Hope you'll continue to enjoy the never ending food adventures with us hehe! 😋
We called about a month before our visit but that's mainly because we were filming & needed to slot it into a particular day during our trip. That said, it would be apt to call them now to make the reservation. We spoke no Japanese & were able to make the reservation using English although it did take a while as the owner knows rudimentary English😉
Once again thank you so much for your support & kind words! It helps keep us going~ We'll see you in the next one! 😁

Hi there 👋, wow! Have a great trip to Japan! Visiting Tokyo in May is great as the weather is just nice ☺️
We called Ishibashi to make the reservation. They do speak English so it’s fine to call them from your home country to make the reservation😉
Hope you’ve enjoyed this episode & we look forward to seeing you again in our future vlogs!

    second! =)
Food porn alert! lol. the hospitality from the staff is amazing. The beef, i dunno, I've always preferred my meats grilled and generally i stay well away from such expensive cuts cause I'm a big eater and I dont wanna blow a hole in my wallet. haha.
But still, very nicely produced episode yet again! Gambate!~!!

Hey Fabian! Still first comment since the other comment is our own hahaha 😁! Grilled beef definitely has its own umami (that Maillard reaction huhuhu)! Indeed the expensive cuts thins the wallet, as in this case for us 😂 but man that slice was heavenly~😋
Glad you've enjoyed this one too & thanks for the continuous support! See you next week~

Hi there 👋, thanks for joining us for this adventure! The beef is actually cooked thoroughly so it's not raw haha...😉
