  • Here's what you should KNOW about RETINOL!
    In this video I debunk 7 retinol myths. I decided to make this because Retinol is widely available over-the-counter and so that more will benefit from knowing the CORRECT information.
    Do you have any questions, comments or experiences on retinol that you want to share? Let me know in the comments below!

    When you’re starting a retinol avoid sunlight use the small does not extra strain. Your skin will not tolerate so you want to start slowly and work your way up to the higher strength that will cause harm, flakiness, redness, etc. you also want to apply only a P size start slowly once a week or twice a week and work your way up. Where are you can wear it every night it’s gonna be a slow progress when you’re using retinol, you also wanna apply moisturizer wait 30 minutes after you use retinol then play moisturizer that will help with the flakiness, irritation, redness do your research on TH-cam video there’s tons of videos that will give you advice when you’re starting to use retinol.

    Hi doc, it’s me again. After a year of using .05% tretinoin, ngayon lang ako naka experience ng redness and flaking despite using it every other day and even if I use buffer like moisturizer. I noticed that I only experience redness and flakiness a couple of months ago when I stop using clindamycin toner on my face. Never change anything to my skin care routine except limiting my usage of clinda toner when I only have active acne.

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm if youve been using tretinoin for a year, its highly unlikely na un ung nagcacause ng redness and flaking mo. Did u change brands or tretinoin? Did u change cleansers, moisturizers, make up? Do u have a new environment? new hobbies/exposures?

    • @huzkyvoice
      @huzkyvoice 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@irenegaile hi Doc. Thanks for the reply. Same product. If there was a lifestyle change, that’s going back to working out again. Anyway, I manage to tame my skin by using a lower percentage of tretinoin, from .05% to .025%. My other question though is, I have this mandelic toner (superskin 3) for oily skin. Would it be okay if I use tret at night and the toner in the morning? :)

      Nope, you can continue to use retinol all year round but i recommend using it at night. In winter, you may add moisturizer before or after your retinol if your skin gets a bit dry and sensitive.

      A minute after application is probably not due to the retinol as it doesnt work that fast. You would notice flaking a few days after using it.

      If it's a true allergy then you can use other alternative anti-aging ingredients such as peptides, vit c, snail mucin etc.

    Dr Ben Johnson says the plumping effects from retniol is due to irritation inflammation and self protective reactions of the skin, it stimulated collagen production in the EPIDERMIS but not actually thickening of the DERMIS where it counts. It needs to get to the dermis and be converted into tretionin, rather than irritate and artificially bloats the epidermis. Is this true?

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it helps stimulate collagen, which is in the dermis.

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the concentration :)
      Adapalene 1% is equivalent to somewhere in between tretinoin 0.025 and 0.05%.
      Adapalene is more anti-acne, while tretinoin is both anti-acne and anti-aging and can give you a little more side effects than adapalene :)

      If youre sensitive - before or before and after, if your skin tends to be dry, you can out after. If youre oily sometimes you can get away with just using retinol

    Hello. I am 23 and I just started building my own skin care routine. I want to keep things as natural as possible, so I bought some natural solid soaps and shampoos, floral waters and oils.
    I have dry-sensitive skin and rosacea(I guess). Please tell me if this routine is good.
    In the morning:
    I wash my face with a charcoal soap
    Wash my face with an ice cube
    Use chamomile water as a toner
    Almond oil as a moisturizer
    Then I do some face yoga with a jade gua sha and a face roller
    Night routine:
    Wash face with an green clay mint soap
    Rose water
    Rice oil
    Repeat face yoga
    In witch point can I introduce the retinol?

    Hi Doc! First and foremost, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge about skincare here on TH-cam! Very much appreciated 💗
    Doc, I would like to ask if it's okay to switch from using Adapalene + Benzoyl Peroxide to Retinol? I had a really bad acne breakout before, so my previous derma prescribed me to use Epiduo Forte. It was effective for my skin, since I rarely get breakouts for the past few months. I now only use Epiduo Forte for spot treatments, but I would like now to improve the appearance of my skin (especially the marks).
    Here's the skin care routine I plan to use next:
    Cleansers (double cleansing):
    Kojie San + Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
    Moisturizer:
    Cosrx Advanced Snail Moisturizer
    Retinol:
    Good Molecule
    + Sunscreen
    Thank you very much in advance! Hoping to hear from you Doc 🤗

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      EPUDUO FORTE = acne (all over the face as it also prevent acne formation, not as a spot treatment)
      RETINOL = anti-aging
      Choose depending on your skin issue :)

    My face hates retinol I don’t why. Even if I try to use the mildest one like Olay or the Cerave Resurfacing, after a day or two my face gets dull uglier and I get pimples. Even if I try it once a week my face won’t get used to it😢
