The moment you welded the clip to both sides I was thinking "wtf..." and when I saw the jewelers saw it was totaly obvious. Cool project and great video, thanks for sharing!

Okay...so I first see the thumbnail and the clip looks CONNECTED so I was like "That's stupid. Now you cant open the damn thing." but then you sawed it in half. this is the coolest pocket clip for a multi tool. Cool build, again.
....thinking outside the box is the only way to do things now a days, with everything punched out of molds anymore, makes it refreshing to see a new twist on everyday items....yes Surge is everyday item to some.......slamming work as usual!
This is the best addition to a Leatherman that I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing and thanks for giving me a reason to break out the welder to do the the same.

Added a loop-clip to it, to hook it up to a lanyard on my belt. So I can't lose it when working as a sailor.

I just use the factory pocket clip. It has some side to side movement, but it has never unintentionally detached... at least not for me anyway. (Sample size of 1) I’ve also never managed to break one either. I don’t like that Leatherman’s clip is an afterthought at best, but you shouldn’t have to void your warranty to pocket carry comfortably either.
Excellent build! One thing though, I would have opened all the tools and kept it cool so it wouldn't ruin the temper. It could be a little Sally of me but that's what I thought. Great video! Thanks jimmy!

I have recently subscribed to your channel because I enjoy your style, skill and creativity. You have a fan in Australia in me. I think a lot of your negative comments derive from a lack of knowledge from those that have no idea what Ad Hoc means when you are demonstrating your creativity. Ad hoc is a word that originally comes from Latin and means “for this” or "for this situation. It comes with no prerequisite for quality. I have an engineering academic background at University and I gave it all up and now work in custom fabrication, construction and maintenance, cos fuck living behind a desk, I do what you do and what you do is perfectly fine when it comes to getting the job done, and that is essentially the criteria for a mechanical engineer- to make shit work, form and function are secondary or tertiary but not forgotten.
I like it. It sparked another idea for just one prong with a ring at the end, a bit like a pen clip. Now I just have to go learn to weld. And buy a Leatherman.

u should make your own leather work belt then clip all the things u need on it instead of your pants pockets I watch your videos all the time your very talented at what u do

But, when I saw you cut it in two, once again I was impressed and schooled by your creativity. Keep up the excellent work! Of all the things I watch on TH-cam, your videos are always my favorite and I often recommend them to my friends.
if you round off the tip of the pliers it makes any letherman close far smoother also to aid with the break in of the pliers movement if you put the pivot over a vice and give it a few good taps with a ballpeen hammer makes it move like butter...
Oh, I was wondering, if you round over the very tips of the pliers, do you think it might lessen the chances of them jamming while closing the tool after using the pliers?
