    Stephanie I cant believe you don't have Skinfood peach cotton blur powder on here. You out of no where introduced that powder in another video awhile back and is absolutely the most AMAZING holy grail powder for my dry but veryyyy textured orange peel pores. It smoothes like no other and does not look terrible or dry at all later in day. And the PRICE😮. Thank you for that GOLD recommendation💛💛💛💛

    Hi Stephanie, THANK YOU for doing this powder video. I've been using the Lottie London's Ready Set Go undereye pink brightening setting powder & it's working well for my 60 yr. old very dry skin. Plus being talc free, only ~$8, vegan, and cruelty free it's a win/win!!

    Thanks for this very informative video. I have very dry skin, use tretinoin, and live in a very dry climate. So that’s three strikes against me. I use the Charlotte Tilbury and have a bit of the Givenchy left. Since I only set my under eyes both should last for quite a while. In addition I’m 71 and have been using talc products all my life, so I’m not too worried about any effects.

    When rumours were swirling that Prisme Libre was going to be reformulated, I squirrelled a couple of the original formula away. I’ve tried many of these powders, but would love to try the Haus Labs one day.
    I find in my 60’s, it’s all about the skin prep before applying any makeup and (when it comes to powder) I knock most of the powder out of the brush before gently pressing it into my skin. Then I follow with a good setting spray (like Charlotte Tilbury). To finish, I take a thoroughly squeezed out damp sponge and gently press the setting powder and spray into my skin.

    This is a really good comprehensive video. Many brands are reformulating to be talc free and replacing the talc with mica due to fear of lawsuits, even though the J&J lawsuits were about talc in the vaginal area not the face. Mica seems to give my face a weird shiny look when used as the first ingredient. Some of my previous favorite loose powders don’t work for me anymore so I’m always looking for new options.

    I just recently picked up a trial sized version of the Laura Mercier Ultra Blur loose setting powder in rose. It’s talc free but I don’t find it to be sparkly or shimmery. So far I’m liking it under my very dry 55 year old under eyes. I just use the tiniest bit on a puff and it looks great. I also use it on my face very lightly in my more textured areas. Lovely.

    I have been dealing with eye irritation and skin irritation for as long as I could remember, which is as long as I’ve worn makeup. As I’ve gotten older, I started isolating ingredients and I narrowed it down to talc being the culprit. I haven’t been officially allergy tested for it, but I highly suspect it is at least an irritant. That being said, I’m loving the new focus on trying to make talc-free better!!!!

      Agreed 💯. I actually prefer Chanel as I have combo skin. I found the Makeup by Mario loose powder too heavy and the colors aren’t brightening, they are dull compared to Chanel. Also, the Chanel doesn’t have the shimmer, which I prefer with my skin (combo & I live in Houston, Texas with a TON of humidity). If I REALLY want a “glow,” which is RARE, I use an Hourglass Finishing Powder. Totally blurs, is just matte enough & is Super finely milled.

    Hi Stephanie I have extremely dry skin with rosacea and eczema, so powder is a challenge and something I use with a very light hand😂. I used the Hourglass ambient powder for thirty months straight (start to finish of the product) and it’s still a real favourite, but I have recently been using the Dior lavender loose powder instead. I just fancied a change tbh and lavender is a much better shade for my pale skin than pink or the beige of most “translucent” powders. I only use a small amount with a brush and it gives a very similar effect on the skin. Finishing powder can be a really good choice over setting powder to set dry skin. There are usually less oil absorption ingredients and they are targeted to give smooth skin with a natural glow. It’s enough to blur and set my makeup anyway. Best wishes x

    • @leslieridenour2734
      @leslieridenour2734 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh Gosh I'm in big trouble, I didn't know that setting powder and finishing powder are two entirely different products? What are the differences? I'm 64 with dry skin and large pores. I use Makeup Forever HD and by the end of the day my makeup is gone (actually it doesn't even take that long!) so I thought I needed a setting powder. I just bought Charlotte Tilberry powder last night.

    • @lorainemcgillivray77
      @lorainemcgillivray77 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@leslieridenour2734 Setting powder usually has ingredients in the formula to prevent oil breaking up the makeup and they can also blur pores. Finishing powder is normally used for blending your products together and giving either an airbrushed effect or some glow or both. It is a powder and all powder will soak up a minimum of oil, but it's far less oil absorption than a setting powder. If your makeup is disappearing then it's more about what is underneath IMO, especially if you overall have dry skin. I'm extremely dry and my skin can suck every vestige of moisture from my complexion products making them go into the pore and disappear, but it's not the powder that's at fault here. I must have a primer on to stop that happening and sometimes two - a moisturising primer on most of my face and a pore filling primer on my nose. I hope that helps explain x

I am using Makeup Forever HD and Embryolaisse Lait as a primer (I was using MILK hydrogrip but it was causing my makeup to pill on my face which was really annoying to me). The embryolaisse (spelling?) might not be best primer but it doesn't cause those annoying little balls of whatever it is all over.

    • @lorainemcgillivray77
      @lorainemcgillivray77 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@leslieridenour2734 hi I am currently using the Dior face and body or the Givenchy glow for a bit more coverage. Underneath I use the Daniel Sander green primer in the centre of the face for my rosacea and the Bobbi brown vitamin enriched face base or it’s dupe the Revolution skin base on the perimeter. Get some samples of foundations and primers in the appropriate coverage and texture for your skin. I haven’t tried the make up forever so I don’t know what it’s like, but the embryolisse is quite greasy as a primer and will not hold up to humidity. Try a hydrating primer ( a product formulated to be a primer) or either the bb or revolution as both are used by many people as a primer ( it has ingredients that make it work as a primer for dry skin without being greasy). I hope that helps. Your skin type and environment both play a big role in how any makeup lasts. You can also try a setting spray with polymers eg benefit or charlotte tilbury. Neither are as drying as the Urban decay or others with a high amount of alcohol in them. Best of luck x

    Great video, thank you!!! I’m curious to try the Haus Labs powder now :) So far the only powder that looks invisible on my 46 yr old skin is Westman Atelier in translucent- completely blurs my tzone. The only draw back is I have to re-apply halfway through the day, but I prefer that over a powder that emphasizes texture or lines

    One of the absolute best loose setting powders was by a brand called “VAPOUR”. They were around for a short time and went out of business around three years ago. Omg. I think I’m the only one lay one who remembers them. It was sold in at macys and a few other retailers. I guess they couldn’t keep up with all the big names but what a shame. I bought like 5 jars and still have a few left. What a great formula they had! 🥰🥲

    I’m shocked that you didn’t mention the Laura Mercier translucent powder! As EVERYONE seems to LOVE that one also! I just got it and started trying it… so we’ll see. But I also use Givenchy the original formula, Maybelline FitMe, Becca Soft Light Blurring Powder (pink), and Nikkia Joy Cosmetics pressed, loose and brightening (pink) setting powders… amazing!! The scent alone has me so addicted!

    Thanks to you I’m hooked on the Pat McGrath under eye powder BUT I think the downside to it should be mentioned in that it breaks apart (design flaw?) and there’s a good amount of product waste due to this. I thought it was just me until I read the other reviews on Sephora’s website. I hope they fix this because the product is like no other for under eyes!

      Great feedback for others from your experience. I've had at least 4-5 compacts and none have broken apart on me. I've been able to use them fully until the end :) I wonder if it has something to do with the softness or density of the brush used or the humidity in the air? Interesting though!

    I waited it seems like forever to buy the Pat McGrath’s pink powder. I was so excited to get it and use. Unfortunately my makeup shelf collapsed when we had wood laminate installed in our bedroom and although the compact didn’t break, the powder inside did. I threw away the broken pieces and am still using the very rough remains.

    • @StephanieMarie
      @StephanieMarie  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I love several Kosas products but I don't love this like other people do for some reason. It seems to settle into my concealer so that it creases eventually and it doesn't keep shine away on my face. It also hard-pans very quickly for me. I've tried so many times and gave up.

    Hi! Thank you for doing this video! I have been wondering if I am getting obsessed with powders! I am looking for this perfect product that perfects and blurs, first dry out my skin/ makeup and gives me a polished perfection! That’s not expecting to much is it?!😂 I have mature skin-leaning slightly to the dry side. So it seems like I have been trying a new one every time I purchase makeup 🤨🫣- Totally agree on the pat McGrath under eye! Was hoping you would do the “one sized”pink/ trying to decide between that and the tower 28. Now I may have to try both- sounds like tower is good with humidity-rain? Hausa sounds like it might be like the Saie- which is good for dry skin- I love Huda - pink- actually liked it more the old version of Givenchy- with talc. I still struggle with what is setting and what is finishing-but maybe I like the fine finish they are similar… Do you have a foundation recommendation for wheat and extreme humidity?

    I am always on the hunt for an affordably priced loose and pressed powder.
    I am combo leaning more oily with dry under eyes (and in my 40’s)
    I have the wet n wild but have not tried it yet and am a huge fan of the Maybelline fit me pressed for my T zone.
    I am currently using the loose halo glow ELF powder in pink for my under eyes and the loose powder of Maybelline fit me (in fair light) for my t zone. I am hoping the WnW helps with blurring my pores more than the Maybelline (loose) fit me.

    Great content! I have to admit I do not get excited about powder, despite the fact that I love the affect! It is the only beauty product that I only own 2 or 3 at a time. I am one of those who was really disappointed in the Givenchy reformulation, Patty Alonso turned me onto Dannessa Myricks loose pink powder and I love it! I am also one who does not ever go without the small black compact from PAT McGRATH! I am picky because I feel like a lot of powders darken my under eye area or change my makeup look so thanks for braking it down! I think I might take the plunge and buy the Huda powder all my trusted creators seem to love it. I wonder if you have tried the Chanel loose powder and if so would love your thoughts! Thank you again.

      In this recent video th-cam.com/video/tdvuEqvyvXQ/w-d-xo.html and in tomorrow (Sunday) am's video. I don't prefer it to my pat mcgrath because it's not as smoothing and doesn't hold up when my eyes water, but it looks natural like pat does. I've been playing around with this hack I saw using it before huda to make huda work under the eyes :)
