💬 I’ve been waiting well over two years to do this song out of complete respect for my fellow compilation creator, Derek Brooks. He did an amazing mashup to this song back in November 2021. If you have not seen it yet, please go check it out here: th-cam.com/video/4BQUnoVBSto/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gJfcdAytpG7RZS2A
Life has been smacking me upside the head the last couple of months but I don’t know what I would have done without this amazing distraction. I swear music has saved me on so many occasions.
Trying something different in dropping this one. A premiere! I hope this finds you all safe and sound and please enjoy!
    Onto the next! 💜

2:01 Love, Love That nostalgic clip tie-in with Chester (I).
      Humorously memorable.
I like the pre and post song reaction clips on this one a lot too.
It feels like a best of the best reactions complication in a well edited groove.
      Well Done, You.

As a young black man growing up in Southern Florida, this was one of those songs I heard when I hung out with my white friends who listened rock. When this came out, I was 16 years old, had only listened to R&B at that point...then BAM! Rush...that was the start of me enjoying rock...classic rock.

RUSH is THE PERFECT EXAMPLE of the fluidity of MASTERING TIME SIGNATURES! I play drums and there are a few things that you need to know about Neil Peart’s ( pronounced PEER-T) character: First he writes the lyrics so he knows in advance what TYPE of song it’s meant to be ie ballad, driver, etc. Second he COMPOSES on the drums… like a carpenter who looks at a set of blueprints before building the object. Neil lays out a SKETCH in his mind of the VOICES of the drumset and builds the song from there. He is also a great LISTENER knowing when NOT to step over Geddy’s singing or Alex’s solos! Finally, he had perfect timing and fluidity of time changes. He said himself that it’s not about COUNTING the time signatures as much as fluid motion to change the tempo without counting: in other words it should FLOW! He hates repeating the same drum patterns in the same song meaning if he plays a fill one way the first time around he will play it differently the second time around. IE. Rolls down the toms the first time around and triplets or quads (all four limbs) the second time around. In short there will NEVER be another like him on planet earth 🌍 🌏 🌎! REST IN PEACE PROFESSOR!
With heart felt admiration and sincerity!
    Gary

I'm a 70's grad, we didn't have to be sold out for just one band, we had a buffet of great music we could choose from. Monday could be Rush, Tuesday Yes, Wednesday Boston 14:25 , Thursday Frampton, Friday Led Zepplin, Saturday Fleetwood Mac, Sunday Pink Floyd.......could go a whole month listening to a different great band every day. All different genres, some blending genres together forming their own genre.....Steely Dan the most notable "mixer". All before digital tools like Autotune and mixing software. Most bands did their recordings as a group live in the studio, usually only re-tracking vocals or mistakes.

Yet another outstanding compilation video, Momma!! Rush is one of my favorite bands, and one of my favorites to see people react to for the first time. Even people that might not know much about music recognize Neal's greatness and most are amazed that the wall of sound they're hearing is coming from only 3 guys! "Tom Sawyer" seems to be a pretty common entry level Rush song, much like "The Pot" for Tool, but usually is just the beginning of the rabbit hole. Take care Momma, and I'm so sorry about your cat. Looking forward to your next project ✌️

Saw Rush in 1980 when I was 15 at Ivor Wynne stadium in Hamilton Ontario. What a "rush" it was.

Even though we know you rock the drums as good as Neil Peart, WonderMomma, this is pure proof how timeless the music of RUSH really is. Thank you for another great compilation!!! YOU ROCK!

I've always loved the fact that Neil Pert in his drumming does a 2, 3, 4, and 5 beat twice after the first line Geddy sang.

It is truly amazing how Rush's talent is recognized instantly even when hearing them very first time. Legends. A bit of trivia, if you watch any of videos of their lives shows check out for the washing machines and dryers. The reason??? Geddy's side of the stage compared to Alex has much less amps and stacks so they did it to balance it out.

I was 12 yrs old when this song came out. I'm 55 now and still crank this jam and really ALL RUSH songs! Love this band since before I was a teen! A Farewell to Kings and 2112 are my favorite albums from RUSH!

The time signature changes in this song are INSANE. These guys are elite master musicians. Just consider that Getty is playing bass, keyboards AND singing lead vocals! Mind blowing. Rush and Steely Dan are probably the most impressive bands in terms of their musicianship.

This is my personal theme song. I was the last to leave my high school parking lot after graduation in 1988. In my '79 Chevy Malibu, windows down, cranked it when exiting the lot, tires spitting gravel. It became my exit theme for all moments of change.

    RUSH: MASTERS OF TIME SIGNATURES:
They don't sit down and say "Let's write in (x) time signature." They just write what they feel.
    Jacob's Ladder alternates between 5/4, 6/4 and 7/4, then 6/8 and 7/8.
    Limelight is 7/4 not 7/8.
The middle of La Villa (A Lerxst in Wonderland) is in 7/8.
Kid Gloves is in 5/4 for the intro and verses and 4/4 for choruses.
The Trees starts in 3/4, moves into 4/4 and the solo section is 5/4.
