Great VIdeo!! I don't own any Porsche, however I certainly would change my own oil if I did! I heard it costs hundreds at the dealer? After working at a garage when I was a teen, the things I've seen... I do everything myself that I can. I personally only change a crush washer if I were to see a drop between oil changes in my parking spot. However, it never hurts to change it like you did. The access hole is a very good solution!
Thanks sooo much for the comment! Really appreciate it. That access panel saves me so much time and I’m more likely to do it more often with it. Maybe every 5k miles. That oil change cost me around $75. The dealer by me wants $500. I’m sure they do more as far as inspecting the whole vehicle, but I try my best.
excellent ;) just two notes. 1. - try to not use metal hook/bodkin for removal orings - use plastic or just remove with hand. 2. - lube the oring before installation on filter bowl and afte also.
Thanks Mike. I have the same car and just completed the oil change yesterday. Do you know if you can reset the oil service interval at any time? It does not have to say servoce car right? I am ordering the icarsoft. I did the change with 5000 miles left according to the car. It was so easy. The dealer quoted over $600 for an oil change!
Hi. You can go in and reset the oil service interval at any time. The icarsoft will ask for the date you performed the oil change and it will push the next "oil" service interval out by 1 year or 10,000 miles. I do it at least 2x per year or every 5k miles so my light never comes on for oil.
@michaelsantino2023 ok sounds good. I had bought an innova brand but it did not work. I have the icarsoft coming tomorrow. Thanks again. The oil change was so easy. The off road mode with air suspension gives you just enough room to get under the car.
Love the video. Very detailed and efficient. Maybe dumb question. How did you plot the exact location for you easy access hole prior to cutting it out. Thank you for your time and effort.
So the way I marked the location was by taking the front screws of the panel off. It was enough for the panel to bend down a little and I could see the oil drain plug and get my hand in there to mark the location with a red pencil.
Michael, thanks. Do you know if we void our factory warranty by changing our own oil? I thought I would video proof and date in case of problem. Subscribed and look forward to other content .
@@tomorrow41 Hi David, So from what I have read online, you have to use the exact oil specifications as per the owner’s manual. I also save my receipts for the purchase of the oil, oil filter and washer. I have an excel spreadsheet where I date and list any work done to the car. I think there is also a place in the owner’s manual to do this too. Technically the dealers are supposed to stamp your owner’s manual when they do work, but they never do it because they have it in their computers. In my opinion documentation and receipts are key, but I have never run into any problem’s luckily. I like your idea of videoing it though. I think Porsche’s warranty is only 4 years.
Actually, not bad at all. Pretty neat and clean. Good simple video, thanks - reminder to lock your height controls before going under (it’s in the manual), and you will need an ODBII tool that can reset your service interval. That port hole on the engine tray is genius!
Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it. I have the iCarsoft CR Pro + for when the interval lights come on. Hopefully it does the trick. So when you say to lock the height, is that the same button that you hold for 10 seconds that turns off the air suspension if you need to jack up the car?
I bought the iCarsoft CR Pro+. I know they are expensive, but I can use it on multiple cars. Here is a link to the one I went with. It's good for Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Audi...and many more. Even Ferrari's! Lol. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BHZL5CB6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1
you know whats so much easier then this? buying my own oil and filter and paying jiffy lube $40, they even discard of the used oil :). I usually just use my credit card reward points for a jiffylube gift card voila, cheap oil changes and i dont have to leave the drivers seat and i get to use my motul. I could never understand why people change their own oil, you still have to drive the oil to be discarded, what a mess! not evn worth it especially considering 10k oil change intervals
Thanks for the feedback. I understand your point, but for me it’s nice to get my hands dirty once in awhile. Good mental therapy, especially for me who sits behind a desk most of the time.
This is the best video for macan oil change
Nice work completing and recording the entire process one-handed!
Love it, nice and meticulous. You should upload other Macan DIYs
Thanks for the great video Mike. I love the access door too for easier servicing.
Great video! will be changing the oil in my 2023 S with the 2.9L engine soon.
Excellent vid! Clean, easy, and classy. Where did you get that awesome funnel? Thx Michael.
Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it. I got that funnel at Harbor Freight.

May be 5w30 would be better? What do you think about?
Give you have the diy drain plug access door, you should install a stahlbus drain plug and REALLY make things simple and clean.
I keep going back and forth if I should keep the OEM or go with Stahlbus or Valvomax
@@michaelsantino2023 I ran the stahlbus on my 15 turbo and run it on my 2018 tt-rs and I love it. Won't NOT run it ever again.
Drain plug access door.... nice... but my guess is it gets a bit messy getting that t45 bolt (which faces straight down) off. 😉

How do I turn off the notification that says “oil change”?
Thank you

Great video..where did you buy that drain plug access port ? Thanks, Tom

Hey Michael can you send me the brand of your rims and tire specs? I'm looking to change up my wheels on my Macan GTS. Thanks for the video.
So they are 20 inch rims. Tires are Michelin Latitude Tour HP 295/40. This is exactly what came with the car when I purchased it.
