In my humble opinion, the Mamba Green, which is no longer offered by Porsche is a much better looking shade of green. The currently available Python Green looks too much of a neon green.
Mamba Green was a really nice green. Real shame that it was never offered on the Porsche sports cars and is now getting faded out again. Python Green isn't even a standard colour on the new car, it's PTS.

Great review. Would love to drive this back to back with my 2018 Macan Turbo Performance Package. It looks like the recalibrated suspension on the 2022 GTS has a leg up, but on the flip side, I think the 3.6l engine in the old Macan Turbo has some more grunt and also more torque (for the PP model) than this new GTS. Thoughts?
Love my 2021 GTS...and I don't even feel bad about the 2022 coming out and getting more power (and not much else that wasn't already available) because of the bump in price. By the way people get the cayenne over the macan (like myself) because the cayenne feels like a proper truck. The macan drives like a sedan and feels like a sedan. The cayenne feels like a solid steel German tank strapped to a missile.
Couple of things: no, those are not the spyder wheels on the car, those are the GT wheels. Summary is Turbo feels more luxurious, GTS sportier. Depends what you want.
Always thought Macans would be AMAZING if they shrunk it a little and put it closer to the ground to make it like a super hot hatch. Dominating over RS Type R and Golf R
You can't shrink a longitudinally mounted engine car. That's why all of those cars look smaller because they have a transversely mounted engine. This is also why the Macan is much better than a Golf because it has a proper AWD system. Although the Civic Type R is still faster than a Macan on the road.
TBH the Macan is already a bit too small for what it is. I looked at buying one for my wife and wound up with a Cayenne instead because the Macan wasn't big enough, it honestly didn't feel any bigger than my mk7 R on the inside. Great car though if you can live with the size.
@@flacjacket I have the first iteration of the macan gts and had a mk7 gti. You’re not wrong lol. The cayenne a bit too big for us but the macan does feel a bit tiny from time to time. @@TJ-qm7wu cool. I might end up doing the same. My dealer has an F-Pace in stock, but it’s $103k. They have the stupid “accessories” for $5k, which is pretty much the dealer markup. Zack, there was never a macan turbo s because in North America, in order to be a turbo s vehicle you have to have carbon ceramic brakes as standard equipment. Therefore there was no macan turbo s and is why they made that macan turbo w/performance pack which gave you carbon ceramic brakes as an option for $8100.
I think these are really cool. The subtle colors look the best irl to me. Someone help me understand. What is the difference between S and GTS. I know they both have the bi-turbo 6, but is there suspension tuning? Looks like I would want to spec a Macan S up instead of taking a base GTS?
The S and GTS have different engines. The S has the shared engine from the Audi S5 (3.0 V6 single turbo) and the GTS gets the shared engine from the Audi RS5 (2.9 V6 twin turbo). There are also differences in suspension tuning and setup, the GTS is stiffer, has different calibration the dampers, different springs, different bump stops. The vehicle also has torque vectoring as an option.
@@NoahBB not for 2022...the S is getting the previous GTS engine and the GTS is getting the previous Turbo engine, both the 2.9l twin turbo but with different tunes. Basically 2022 they relabelled the Turbo to the GTS and the GTS to the S while taking a few things off each.
@@NoahBB Please, stop telling such nonsense! The new Macan S also has the 2.9 liter V6 engine! The old 3 liter V6 engine is GONE! I could have dropped an APR tune on the A4 for more power, but it still wouldn't have driven nearly as well. No regrets making the switch.
@@markmcgrath8739 - i went from a '20 S5 sportback to a '22 Macan S - It's like night and day. Steering feel & turn in are so much better - car rotates more like a rwd - no understeer
What a spec!! such badass car. couldnt get me away from a 911 but seeing the other models come as far as they have is incredible.
That green looks awesome on the road! like a trailer for Grand Turismo.
Well, I for one am glad that they kept the apparently "least interesting" part of the car, the engine. I think that turbo V6 sounds great.
Extremely versatile engines that are punchy, has enough torque to just tick along at low speeds and yet can still get decent consumption because of B-cycle and COD
It doesn't sounds bad at all.
Sounds decent and enjoyable
Sounds that good because of the sport exhaust.
powerband of this GTS is great beautiful curve
I bought a 23 GTS after this video and yes; it’s ‘the jam’ 😎
As a cyclist thanks for looking out. Many of us are car enthusiasts. Considering the new Macan GTS or the RS 5 as the next "team car" to take me to trail heads, road (bike) races and ski slopes to replace the APR tuned 458hp B8.5 "sedan" . Thanks for the great review.
thanks guys. I was looking at the rs5 sportback over the 2021 macan, but the new 2022 GTS looks great. Macan gts it the way to go. Love the PDK vs the traditional in the Audi. In Canada they make you take the green stitching with the GTS package, so not sure what I'll do. I'm not a fan of the python green inside or out.....to me it's a 'look at me' colour, so a little too flashy for me, but am booked to go the dealer.
Did you end up getting it yet? If so, what do you think of it?? I'm in the same position as you, looking to swap my S5 Cab for one of the 2, and I'm in Canada too
@@sackman848 I actually didn’t pull the trigger. Both are nice enough but since covid, my car needs changed. I ended up buying a boat and 3 row suv to tow it.

Thank you for confirming the GTS is a nice car! It's my daily driver that I keep in Sport+ mode ;) .... the kids love it and I launch all the time! Wished that there were more of these family cars invited to 911 hangouts hahahaha.
I went with a GLC AMG 43 for my daily and although the performance is just about the same(12.8 1/4th mi) and much less expensive, I really regret not getting the Macan due to crazy good looks and handling. This video sold me, definitely grabbing the GTS next.
Nothing can prepare you for the attention you'll get in a Porsche. There's that too. Attention of all kinds - Good and bad lol
@@Foxtechconsultants oh I know, I have a 991 and have all types of awkward experiences to share 😂😂. Kids try to race me more in the AMG than the 911 though, probably because they think they will beat it.

I have the first generation Macan GTS, and it's so fucking nice. It's so reliable and fun to drive. Had a Range Rover Sport before and it was a real piece of shit. Things would stop working and break all the time, and would suck money out the bank account. But the Macan GTS i recommend to everyone, i haven't got a single complaint to make.
"this is the jam"
The speed you’re carrying through the corners is insane.
I love my California canyon hills! Love it! Lot of accidents there too!
I own one of these the older 2018 GTS and I am telling you it does rip thru the canyons like my CRX that weighs 2000 lbs. This thing rocks and even though I have 375 HP model not 425 HP I can just simply have it tuned and bam bam baby its up to the new Spec levels.
ordered one for NZ roads, got in metallic black with carbon interior can't wait!
I love my GTS! So practical and fun to drive!
In my humble opinion, the Mamba Green, which is no longer offered by Porsche is a much better looking shade of green. The currently available Python Green looks too much of a neon green.
It looks so Lamborghini. The Python Green, I mean. I guess it's hard to stand out without being gaudy.
All colors are offered by Porsche.. for the right price ;)
Mamba Green was a really nice green. Real shame that it was never offered on the Porsche sports cars and is now getting faded out again. Python Green isn't even a standard colour on the new car, it's PTS.
Love the brighter green
How does it compare to the Alfa Stelvio Quadrifoglio? That for me is one of the benchmark SUV in terms of driving dynamics?
I think you gonna need 2 of those Alfa's. One in the shop while being fixed as other on the road. Or have a mechanic ride shotgun all the time. Sorry old Jaguar joke. Thhey make great performance cars but not dependable and prone to many failures.

Not yet, prices will come down. I'm in a similar boat. I don't like to drive SUVs but we have a Mini Countryman Cooper S for now. Good cabin, drives pretty well, good tech. A lot less than a Porsche. If you've never been in a modern Mini check them out. Lots of character and a good drive.
One of the first things I bought after buying a Macan, were a couple of cargo nets for the boot (trunk).
Do those Perrelli’s actually have a tread wear rating of 80!?! Qualifiers on a street car?
The corsas do. The regular P zeroes are 200
Great vid. I have a question. I have porsche 911 and now I'm thinking of getting a car with more seats. I'm thinking Macan S (2022), Cayenne coupe S, and Panamera Sport Turisumo. Which one would you recommend and why? Thanks!
ive always gotten "Scirocco on stilts" vibes from the Macan lol

Love this but will still take a Stelvio Quad after having driven both
Good luck with the servicing.
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH servicing is fine. All the people complaining about reliability issues haven’t likely owned a modern Alfa. 30k+ miles on my Stelvio Quad and only routine maintenance.

I'm taking mine to Pitt Raceway in October for fun .. it's a great vehicle
Any car maker can put a hot-rod engine in an SUV/CUV and have great straighline performance(0-60, 1/4mile etc) BUT... Porsche has the magic touch to make an SUV/CUV handle like a sports car.
Thoughts?
Old 3.6 sounds really good too
The 3.6L Turbo Macan will always be the Best hands down but it would still be a great comparison for overall car, and tech etc..!
Love my 2021 GTS...and I don't even feel bad about the 2022 coming out and getting more power (and not much else that wasn't already available) because of the bump in price. A tune will take my 2021 to Turbo power levels and beyond when the itch is needed for a bit more.
Plus Mamba Green > Python Green.
Lifestyle inflation at its finest 😏
As a '22 S owner (inherited your engine/tune) i agree wholeheartedly.
my2023 gts is coming next month, i have watched this video 100 times already hahaha
I love Porsche.
And yes, python green stitching is the standard when choosing the large GTS interior package (includes the options from the premium package). But there is also a GTS interior leather package for chalk, red, and black stitching.
Seeing that ram cross the double yellow made me flinch! crazy
They all don’t come with green stitching, You can pick what ever colour you like ? I just ordered the Miami blue.

When I replace my S4 -- this would be the car!
The only thing that sucks is that some countries have co2 tax in cars and with this car emitting 255 co2, it gets taxed so heavily. The 2022 year used ones get over 30k euros of tax.

How's it drive
@@guledaden2508 It's very fast, probably faster than the 2015 Turbo, but power delivery quite different. It has almost same torque but max is 1950 rpm vs Turbo 1350 rpm. Turbo felt snappier off the line but GTS is much sportier feeling, steering is sharper (smaller steering wheel) and suspension is tauter. Once revs build GTS is faster. Sick Green Macan GTS.. Sick Green Macan GTS..
My only real gripe is the 4400lbs tow rating. I don’t need a lot but if I could get 5500 I could tow my gt3 with a smaller open trailer. But that’s a PDK vs Automatic problem.
The argument against crossover is that it needs expensive magic dust to work as well as a sedan.
Correct.
this one is so low it's basically a weird wagon/hatch
@@papa_pt eh
I have a 2017 Macan GTS and love it. It honestly feels like a sedan but with a ton of interior space and carrying capacity.
Does it have „acceptable“ legroom? Also lease or buy
@@JTM610 It does, the bigger issue is rear headroom, at least if you’re 6‘1 and up
but MUCH less than a true wagon 😉 this car hardly has more space than a sedan with that roofline and higher load floor
I owed a 2015 Macan S and you need to take back the ton of interior space talk cause the back seat leg room is laughable. hopefully they fixed the transfer case issue, other than that great little suv.
How much do you guys think the super sticking tires and PTV+ (as part of the GTS package) influence what you guys have described? Do you guys think a car without those two, arguably significant factors on a twisty road, drive in a similar sports sedan defeating manner... Did you make your decision? I am kinda in the same boat. My local Jag dealer has an SVR for $102k. Just seems like a lot to pay for a Jag.....but that is the new world lol. But man, that V8 sings.
@@glucia2223 Yes I did, went with the Macan GTS. For my needs and the build quality I felt the Porsche was a better choice.
@@TJ-qm7wu cool. I might end up doing the same. My dealer has an F-Pace in stock, but it’s $103k. They have the stupid “accessories” for $5k, which is pretty much the dealer markup. But man, the soundtrack on that V8 is amazing. Which car do you think accelerated faster? I know on paper, the Jag is faster, but Porsche is always conservative with their times. I should actually ask, did you drive the GTS or order sight unseen? Crazy car buying climate we live in.
@@glucia2223 Yes I ran into dealers wanting as much as $10k over msrp for F-Pace which I dont think is worth it. As you well know with the current market its hard finding someone to let you test drive these vehicles. I did drive a 2020 Macan S someone had. Very nimble car and I'm understanding the 2022 GTS is even more nimble and faster. So I went with the track record and ordered the Porsche Macan GTS. I hope that helps
@@TJ-qm7wu alright. Sorry to bother you again. I’m down between the M3 X Comp and GTS. Lord help me. X3 is obviously faster, GTS is Porsche. But it’s about 30k more. They have a build spot in November, but are wanting about 10k over MSRP for the “delivery.” Was that what you experienced, too?

The garage looks good man

Zack, there was never a macan turbo s because in North America, in order to be a turbo s vehicle you have to have carbon ceramic brakes as standard equipment. Therefore there was no macan turbo s and is why they made that macan turbo w/performance pack which gave you carbon ceramic brakes as an option for $8100.
I think these are really cool. The subtle colors look the best irl to me. The roof is a little bit higher but it's got the ground clearance of an economy car so it can't be that bad. 3 inch roof chop and you got a hot hatch.

What kind of side mirrors do you get on the US spec?
Someone help me understand. What is the difference between S and GTS. I know they both have the bi-turbo 6, but is there suspension tuning? Looks like I would want to spec a Macan S up instead of taking a base GTS?
the macan S has 375bhp and the GTS has 435bhp, is the main difference
The GTS is “Guaranteed Tremendous Safety” and the S just means safety…
Here in Germany, the Macan S has 380 PS and the GTS has 440 PS, which by the way was exactly the hp numbers from the last Macan Turbo model, which isn't there any more. After this second "facelift" for the Macan, the GTS now is the new Macan top model.
You should just inform yourself a bit better, before you are claiming some stupid things.
The sports gts pack is only available in python green external colour hence the green stitching…..I’ve spent too much time on the configurator 🤣
I'd love it if, and I'm probably not alone in this... if you could do a quick exhaust note highlight of every vehicle you review. For example, this Macan seemed to have a great exhaust note but hard to be sure with the current footage. Excluding electric of course. Keep up the great work & cheers.
They usually do fly bys of the car at full throttle. Way better than revving the engine, stationary, with no load.
