I was "too quick on the trigger" when I saw no comments, lol. I didn't see much of the video yet. In all my quail hunting days, we didn't use dogs. I have had the pleasure of pheasant hunting up north a couple times with some friends' and their well trained dogs. I never get tired of watching dogs do their thing; whether its bird hunting, herding livestock, or pulling a dog sled. Give them "good boys" a treat for me...
I know I'm odd, but as an ACO in Florida, I could watch trained working dogs work all day. It's a beautiful site to see breeds do what they're bred for. Thank you Andrew for taking us along. That was awesome! Great hunt!
That’s one of the reasons I love duck hunting so much is watching the dogs and birds work (mine is a 3yo female black lab). We spend so much time training (field trials, hunt test etc) during the off-season that it’s so rewarding for the both of us to actually get on a limit of birds so she can do what she was bred for.
Awesome man!! I haven’t quail hunted since I was 14(January of 1983). That’s pretty much when they all but disappeared where I grew up in central Mississippi. The true gentleman’s sport!
Thanks for posting this. It makes me miss my GSPs. I put many an hour in following my dogs and shooting quail like this. I may need to go with my friend that has some pointers just to re-familiarize myself with it. Thanks again for sharing.
Love the hunt. We need to bring quail back to Florida... my limited knowledge is the fire ants destroyed them in most of the wildlands. Hey Andrew, how about a clean and cook now?
Fries them last night 😬.... All gone! I've heard fire ants and raccoons are the biggest culprits for their decline. They were everywhere when I was a kid.
Been on quite a few quail hunts in my day, it sure is fun and them suckers sure do eat good. Hunted wild quail and pen raised, them you kicking up is definitely pen raised birds. Wild quail ain't near that easy to take. Not picking on you at all, but wild ones are much harder to flush and kill. I have even stepped on a few pen raised before, didn't have to worry about shot breaking a tooth, HA HA. Sure looks like a great trip. You planning to train Ruger to fetch them birdies? God Bless Brother. I learned the hard way, gotta let pen raised birds fly further away or they explode, and not fit to eat, You are right, wild quail are gone in a lot of places. Me being much older than you, I did get to hunt some years ago in deep south Texas, but the wild birds are very scarce there now so I am told. Dogs we used had to wear booties to protect their feet from all the cactus, and they had to be trained to be afraid of and stay away from snakes, there are some big rattlers down there. Probably can't hunt there safely now days anyway due to all the illegal aliens, drug cartels and criminals. I sure feel sorry for all the residents and ranchers in South Texas.
Wow, its really cool watching the dogs ...... Do they bring the bird back to the shooter ? Im just 14, so still learning... not many quail in the central Texas area around Mason, Brady area so seeing the dogs is not something we see much .... Great video .. thanks for posting ....
Nothing finer than watching bird dogs work. I'm so blessed to have lived and hunted in the heydays of Texas quail hunting.
It sure isn't like it use to be.
@@TKOutdoors Hope we see a turkey hunt this spring.
I know it was a farm hunt but still love the content. Thanks for taking us along!
FANTASTIC! (and first. Woo Hoo)
That looks like fun and seeing it in that view, you wouldn't want to get caught up in the moment and forget where your friends are standing haha,
We wear orange and stay in a similar pattern for safety.
Hi, Andrew! It’s about time you had some fun!! Loved it.
Yes finally!
love watching bird dogs bird-dogging. some good shots as well.
It's so fun watching them.

That's a huge reason why I go, to watch the dogs. They love doing their job.
@@TKOutdoors I love that name Lemon too. 🤣🤣🤣

I don't see or here them much anymore myself.
Love to see the dogs working.... I would love to go out hunting with y'all 🥺😞
Every spring! Next year plan a trip here and we can go.

My second favorite dog is a GSP.
Looked like a great time with some buddies. Nice shooting! Enjoyed it!
Other than being very hot, it was a great time!
@The Kelley's Outdoors Crazy weather in Feb, even for south GA. You'll be eating good though, my friend! Really enjoyed watching the hunt!
Howdy Mr Doug 👋.... Hopefully we will get to see you hunting or fishing with Andrew someday 🤞🏽
Yes Cash! I want to take Doug out on the flats fishing, maybe a little skeet shooting off the back porch. 😉
@The Kelley's Outdoors Want to make it happen this year! Have a good night guys!

There's no wild Quail hunts anymore, they disappeared back when I was a kid. I definitely plan to train Ruger on birds.
That was fun!! It has been years since I've quail hunted. Thank you for bringing us along! God bless.
Thank you for watching, God bless.
Cool video ! Thank you. also, the music is quite loud lately.
Interesting, I can dial that back.

Yes these dogs do bring the birds back. Thanks for watching!
Probably stupid question: could Ruger be trained to point ( I guess that's how you call it)?
It's not common for labs, but they have been known to point. They are definitely known for retrieving birds on land or in water.
I just can’t see how it can get any easier than that I’d be happy if heaven like that
Lol well that's plantation hunting for you, not many wild birds anymore.
Extremely good eating birds but hunting in northern Michigan your lucky to see 10 to 15 birds in 4 days
Same here, that's why you hunt plantations. Hardly any wild birds anymore.
