    No matter what fish species you fish for…the most important part of fishing is landing fish and the most important part of landing fish..is our fishing line. Without strong line, you could not only lose a Personal Best but even a record breaking fish. When I was a teenager I remember making the jump from low cost fluorocarbon fishing line to a very expensive line, but the increase in performance was so evident that I was amazed. And as a tournament bass fisherman, where money is on the line, I have always wondered what is the best fishing line on the market? So I decided to spend $900 to buy every single brand of fluorocarbon fishing line that I could get my hands on and put them to the test to finally find the BEST FISHING LINE period!
    So my objective is simple, I want to find the best fishing line. In order to do this I came up with 8 different tests that will show off the performance of each fishing line. Each line will go through every test and will be given a score of 1 to 29, with 29 points awarded to the fishing line the did best in each test and 1 point awarded to the fishing line that did worst. At the end of all the tests the fishing line with the most points will be considered the best fishing line on the planet!
    BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

      Best is subjective. Flouro sinks like a brick. Sometimes you need something of neutral buoyancy or even floating. Perhaps you should have said the best bass fishing line. Or best lure fishing line. Or best flourocarbon line. Good video though. You earned the like.

    Without doubt the most thorough and complete line test ever done. Lots of line test videos out there but yours's was the ONLY one that I have ever seen that tested for line memory which is IMO hugely important as I use spin casting reels as much as bait casting reels and as a matter of fact my sons use spinning reels more and I own 2x as many spinning reel set ups as bait casters and memory is at times a very major problem.

  • @LowBrowFishing

    I'm an avid user of Berkley Vanish, and based on the results of the testing, I see no reason to change! It not only scored very highly in both the overall and price categories, it's usually the cheapest fluoro on the rack at Academy or Walmart. I've been using it for years and have always liked it.

    • @MrNateRich
      @MrNateRich ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Vanish rots away faster than any other fluoro I have ever used. After 3-5 uses you have to change out the line. I’ve switched to Sunline Sniper, and this stuff lasts 10+ uses. I used to be an avid Vanish user myself. I just never even attempted to try a more expensive fluoro. Now I see why it’s more expensive.

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@MrNateRich I guess different guys have different results. I have never had that problem, and as a TH-cam angler, I go fishing 4-5 times a week. My line has lasted me many months and tens of thousands of casts in most cases, fishing the thickest slop and brush.

    • @leeboy7139
      @leeboy7139 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use vanish for saltwater fishing and I like it. I've pulled many fish out of the rocks and coral. One time about 30 yards before I got the fish free. I found out I really need to lubricate the line well before cinching the knots and I need to tie the knot perfect but I guess that's the case with any line. I also change the line after a big catch but I've always done that, even with mono. Not at the beach but when I get home.

  • @jamesbarron1202
    @jamesbarron1202 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    This vid will get you a lot of views over the years. I’d love to see the top 4 of these flouros (per cost) go against 4 copolys. P-Line CXX, Gamma High Performance, Sunline Shooter Defier and Maxima Ultragreen. I’ll always choose copoly over flouro. I have more faith in it after it’s been fished and stretched a lot. I can’t afford to replace flouro regularly. That would also be a good test to repeatedly stress test a line with more poundage pulled and released each time it’s stretched to see when it shatters.

      I swore off flouro awhile back for the same reasons been using “Masons line” it’s more popular in the north but has kind of a cult following here in the south. I don’t think many people know about it round here. However I’ve been on a run of not keeping fish pinned lately so thinking bout giving flouro anther try. That and I’m fishing a clear lake a lot lately.

    To develop a more significant number for your power index, you need to use the radius squared, since that gives the cross sectional area and the actual strength. To use only the diameter gives an advantage in strength to any oversized line.

      Very good point, it seems to me that a lot of fluoros don’t spring back as well as mono, which gets a bad rap way too often and Not rightfully so in many case. It feels like most monos spring back and are just fine after a stretch, while fluoro springs back much less and as a result is weakened to a greater degree

    • @tinkertailor7385
      @tinkertailor7385 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would be a component of their Memory. Line with higher memory would be more likely to return to its original length and condition. So a line with a high Memory component is not necessarily a bad thing, just means you need to unspool it and tension it before a fishing trip if you intend casting a lot.

    Really great video! Keep doing comparison videos like this and you'll recoup the cost and then some. Fisherman want to know this stuff but dont have the means to do the test ourselves. So we appreciate you being able to do this for us and save us some money.

    I have been a diehard Sunline Sniper fan for almost a decade. Just ordered a full set of SPRO 6# - 20# to replace my Sunline.
    This video was 10/10. Thank you for your time and efforts to put it together. Very educational and very well devisedz

    I used Yozuri T7 last year and I was impressed by it's attributes. Snagged some 16lb from the bank and didn't think I was going to break it. It scored well in your tests also. Good video! Hard to decide about line choice with everyone pushing their sponsors products!

    Coming from a guy who was purely salt water for the first 25 years of my life. I cannot begin to explain how helpful your videos are. Allot of time salt and fresh or even brackish fishing can all be so different that. So having this as reference is so valuable. Great test overall and I appreciate your desire for the most consistent data when testing. There’s so many die hard fans of different brands in the fishing game so having a none biased collection of data is also much appreciated.

    Tyler! Another Grand Slam Video! I have been following you since the beginning and your videos have helped me truly grow and develop as bass angler. Before every Tuesday night bass club tournament, Im in my boat with one of your videos up tying on lures based on your advice and instruction. Thank you so much!!!!!!!
    Ever considered making a video like this on fishing etiquette? Our club has gone from 16-18 boats to 40+ post Covid and most of the new guys are terrible about following rules and fishing etiquette. Leads to a lot of conflict. Would love to see you use your influence to teach that important part of boating and fishing safety.

    I subscribed to your channel.😮 Look, I fish in the Swamp and marsh grass in South Mississippi. I'm kinda new to florocarbon line, because in the past it would break at the knot. I was used to power pro for my Buzzbaits and Frawgs and yes, we call em Frawgs down here 😅😂🤣😎🎣👍. Anyway, after watching Brent Ehrler tie a double uni for florocarbon line. Mono feels like fishing with a rubber band!!!😂 I have mixed emotions about what florocarbon to use. Best test I've ever seen!!!😎🎣👍 I still use Berkley big game on one med/heavy rod for walking and topwater baits,
    Spooks, tiny torpedoes, popr's, exc, because it a floating line and the best for those kinda baits. Thanks a bunch for the time you spent doing these test. You are now right up there with my favorite fishermen. Stay Safe and GOD Bless Brother 🙏🕊😎🎣👍

    Loved the video. Thank you for doing this. I've often wondered if there was a difference between lines. You ask 50 people you will get 50 answers. I appreciate you making it scientific and not just opinion. I appreciate what you do.
