Can't wait to see what that black candy looks like in the sun, I've been wondering about that color. You should check out a paint can tool called the CanDandy, it is awesome and you won't need to use the tape on the cans. It has the can opener on one handle and an awl on the other so you can poke a hole in the lip of the can so the paint drains back in. It also has the round pliers to open the stuck lids on the activators and a heavy part on the other side of the pliers to close the paint can lids. I love it! I used to have one like 15 years ago but gave it away and couldn't find it anymore. Found out the patent ran out and now Linear Blocking Tools sells it on their website. I actually bought two this time in case it goes away again. lol Sounds gimmickey but it is awesome. Great videos and keep up the awesome work!

Awesome, I will definitely look into that tool. I will also post a short of the tank out in the sun tonight before I scuff it down to add flames.

@@Diamondcustompaint Yes please, that would be awesome to see it. I appreciate it! Also, at about minute 1:00 in my 13 House of Kolor Custom Paint on a Helicopter Tail Rotor Blade video on my channel I talk about the CanDandy tool I told you about if you want to see it. I don't get paid or anything by them, I just love the tool and it is honestly one of those tools that doesn't cost too much and I think most painters will like it.

I have done a lot of custom painting on motorcycles & scooters. I hold the gun a little further away than you did & move a little quicker. I run around 50psi. Always do the whole borders 1st followed by the infill. 1st coat of clear is what we call a mist coat. Extremely light. Leave for 15 mins at 20 ish degrees C. Followed by a heavier coat. Another 15 mins. Then a final heavy coat. Always comes out like glass with no orange peel at all. I found the orange peel came from a too large a fan & too close to the job. Great video & I hope this helps.
    Steve.

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated. I've only been painting for couple years, so I'm always up for learning

mist coat only adds to the peel, no need in that really..... if you have art or multicolor, do intercoat clear before clearing to seal the colors in etc. I lay clear how I want it to look. Two - 3 wet coats. 50 psi is way too much, thats why you are farther away. Yes, turn fan in I like about a 6" smaller fan, more control, at about 26-32 psi depending which sprayer I use. With the American Dream sprayers they work great at lower pressures.

After you mix your black candy and clear base coat you should mix 1:1 with the urethane reducer.
So if you have four ounces of urethane base coat you would mix four ounces of reducer.
