Don't even need that system you can use the green board and waterproof cement, and grout which is used in the USA more in most homes! There is also a drainage faucet similar to the shuttler system! I am building in ghana 🇬🇭 and that's what I will be using! Windows just need to be sealed with silicon! This is a lot to deal with but I am glad everything is going well with you! Shalom
Gad, I think you should remove the first layer of wall tiles with the floor tiles too then apply the sticky black waterproof membrane on the floor up to first layer of wall tiles.
They don’t seal or caulk the windows! Our container will have more supplies then furnishings. Thanx great content… Yard is looking very nice also your garden.
Hi Kingsley, I would suggest to do a flood test instead or with the ball test. This how you will do the flood test. 1. Close (or plug ) the drain 2. Fill the bathroom floor with water and let the water stand for 24 - 72 hours. if the water holds its level, then you don't have a leak. (you can also check you POP ceiling in addition) This will help you to see if remediation solution works. You can also just use water to do your run test. If the slope is done right, water will be concentrating in the drain area and if the drain is unplugged water should not be standing.
Thanks for sharing. Schluter system is very expensive even to use here in the USA. Also for the showers walls i think it's not necessary on concrete walls. since water runs of the walls a waterproofing paint on the wall before installing porceling tiles should be enough. Look into getting a PVC shower pan liner. Their are many tutorial videos on TH-cam for installation. I will be using it in my build for the shower floors and will paint the walls with RedGuard or Laticrete Hydroban.
Correct. Schluter is very expensive. Any other good liquid waterproofing products available in GHANA will be a good substitute to Schluter. I don't know if REDGUARD is available in GHANA but It's a good product that can be applied on the wall and floor before titling.
Hey guys. I am so sorry for all these issues popping up. Some more serious than others. Here in the USA we use a product called backerboard, green & installed like sheetrock. It's similar to what you demonstrated on screen, except it is actually waterproof insulation panels for the wall. For the floors anywhere where water and potential overflow can occur, we use a product called marine wood. It's basically sheathing green wood treated with a special waterproof chemical. I would hate to see you guys have to have the ceiling area repainted. Or worse replaced. Mold, mildew and wood rot is serious business and is hidden until a later future time. "Better late than never", is the idiom of the day. What I am imagining is far worse repercussions further down the road. Like replaced ceiling, taking it all out and putting the necessary basic waterproofing. Hope, it doesn't mess with furnishings and floors downstairs as well. And my main concern would be what is not seen 🙄 Nevertheless, I have been where you are in preparation, supplies and building. I would imagine each project has a tale that is unique to the owners. Sort of like mothers who labor to birth forth members of her family. We never forget the history of these pregnancies. Likewise, building any project. The completion will come with its challenges, fears, accomplishments and failures, giving it a character & story of its own. Praying it all goes well.
Gad, those plastic sheets aren't designed to withstand the test of time. Those are same plastic used for drying maize. I suggest you use a real waterproofing/damp proofing membrane. I would even send you some from the excess left after recent work if you want. It's way better durable. You'll also need a double sided tape to seal the overlap. Those are moisture barrier grade Damp Proof Membrane from UK. Very thick and durable. The seller is based in Accra but one roll is too much for just the bath (4mx20m). Also use silicone for drainage pipe and sheet connection. I can show you where to get double sided tape in Accra for installation. I should add that what you need is to get it sealed enough whilst water is draining. So like you said, slope need to be established. Grouting well is import to prevent water being trapped in plastic sheeting beneath. They'll need to space tiles well and grout the lines.
The problem with most tilers in Gh is that they don't like spacing the tiles and doing proper grouting. I think good spacing and grouting will solve the problems in the bathroom.
You’re missing the point The water is not flowing correctly into the drain because the tiles are not installed at the correct angle/ slope - that’s what we mean
I'm sure you have aluminium. Windows what most people buy when building. Most of , or I should say a of the installers do not apply expandable foam when installing these windows. That's why the windows are not water tight. I bought expandable foam from city paints when they came to install my windows fir the security room. For the main house I had an Italian company ship mine over from Italy and leakage.
Hi do not waste your money on that, what you're experiencing is the problem from incorrect plumbing job and improper seal, please email me and I'll tell you what to do

You have to angle the tiles connecting to the drain and mix your tiles cement with waterproof chemical before tiling.
Exactly
100% agree
Thanks for sharing . It seems that it's after one moves in that the real snagging starts. Everything has really come together great.
For sure

It’s good you catching all this❤️🙏🏽👍🏽👍🏽
The brick pavement is very aesthetically pleasing to the eyes!
Thanks

Lawrence why don't you share where to get these things in accra with everyone.
Also, it is a good thing you guys are home while this is happening.
100%
silicon is not really sufficient for waterproofing windows. Expandable foam is more effective
We appreciate the videos Kingsley. Learning a lot from them. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for sharing - cannot wait for consultation!. Congratulations on your new home!!
Great vid. Excellent info. Tfs!

My husband was just questioning that with me yesterday! What about the grouting some don’t look done is it sold there? Thanx
windows are too low
I agree 💯
Looking good 😁
i'm a big fan of your videos. i hope to consult you when i return to Ghana to construct my house in September...this year
Shalom Asher & Gad. To fence off your farm you can easily use Heras Fencing. Check to see if there are stockists in ATMA. Shalom!
Fencing done, see latest video
@@kingstal90 😀
Pls look into this again, you can test by replacing all the grout with the waterproof grout or you can apply silicone onto all the grout.
What about the angle ?
The tiles were installed incorrectly
@@kingstal90 You can use the silicone for all the angles and corners anywhere you have grout apply the silicone to seal it.
You’re missing the point
The water is not flowing correctly into the drain because the tiles are not installed at the correct angle/ slope - that’s what we mean
After Removing the tiles please apply the water proof paint you used on your walls before you lay the black membrane
Good Idea
Thanks for sharing!
I have the leakage through the window problem in my newly built rental. It's super annoying and the land lady doesn't care to fix it.
Yep
Very annoying
Glad I’m no long renting
It can be a pain

Didn't buy it myself
❤
Your windows look pretty low...wouldn't it be a problem?
Not for us
@@kingstal90 great great
Schluter super expensive. Not sure if you have blue skin in Ghana
