I found and married the right guy when very young. I never even worried about cheating with him. Then when I was 41 he died on me, leaving me with 5 kids to raise alone. Never saw that one coming. I met so many widows who found out their husbands had been having affairs which they didn't discover after after he died. When cleaning my husband's closet I found two boxes hidden in the ceiling and took 2 days and lots of crying to open them, devastated it was my turn to discover my life was a lie. When I opened them, the boxes were filled with all the cards the kids and I ever gave him. He did lie. He said he was just a tough guy when he was really a completely sentimental softie. ❤❤ I feel so guilty for even questioning him.

Mourn his death, but don’t forget to celebrate his life. You have a family to remember him by, and memories to cherish forever. I’m sorry for your loss, but thankful he had such an impact on your life, stay strong

    • @thaloblue

This is all very traumatic for you to go through - grieving him and then hearing the stories of other widows. There is such a thing as secondhand trauma. I am not qualified to diagnose you or anything, but I am familiar with my own secondhand trauma experience. Sometimes trauma is contagious. It sticks to people in ways we don't expect. I have very intense, emotionally excruciating, and downright terror responses to stories of sexual assault despite never being victimized that way personally. It just happened to people around me enough, vividly enough and emotionally enough, that the trauma passed itself onto me. I retained a panic response and avoidance symptoms. It kind of reminds me of how you describe your experience; the crying and fearful avoidance specifically.
I say all that to say that we cannot choose whether we will or will not endure a secondhand response to trauma. Trauma is devastating and has a ripple effect outside of its own events and its own victims. It wasn't abnormal or even mean of you to question your late husband. Our brains are literally designed to isolate and keep track of patterns in our environment. I do not know how often you interact with other widows, but this could potentially be a sign to restore yourself after engaging with certain relationships or environments.
It is incredibly valuable to have a community of people you can relate to and grieve with, so I'm not suggesting leaving a support group or not talking to other widows anymore... It's more a suggestion to check in with yourself after you hear something particularly difficult. It might sound odd, but hearing hard things on a full belly with as much sleep as possible is much easier than processing someone else's trauma on an empty stomach or a sleep-starved brain. I know that's tough with 5 kids and probably way tougher with 5 grieving kids. Idk, I'm just hoping to maybe save you some time and fatigue. I would hate for you to feel like you had to relive that in a similar way at any point.

I loved this show Leon…so much resonated with me. I’m about to turn 50 and 2 years ago I met my future wife…after a lifetime of shitty, toxic relationships, I was done. Then in walked this amazing, intelligent, goofy, beautiful, infuriating, compassionate woman. I 100% agree that it’s about trust, respect, honesty and communication. For the first time I feel like I’m in a truly healthy relationship. I’m still healing and still have battle wounds and PTSD, but her love, patience and compassion knows no bounds. We hear stories from our married friends about arguments they’ve had, or the way they speak about one another and feel so blessed that we have such a strong, heathy bond. I can’t wait for June 2025 when I can finally call her my wife. Thank you for sharing your story, and keep hunting those critters for Mrs Lush 💜

      God bless!
I’ve had some weird complex about dating younger guys. Dating all the way back to when I was 14 and had my first bf in middle school. I was born in April and him in August and it was “weird” for me. Tf?
Fast forward, I swore off anyone younger and much older and tried to stay close to my own age. I finally relented a tad and dated someone about 5 years younger than me and it proved to be fruitless and confirmed my bias. Everything just sucked and everyone had commitment issues and excuses.
Finally had a man approach and to my total surprise: I didn’t ask how old he was or grill him, I just went with it. After discovering his age (he was barely 25 and I was 37) I just thought whatever… it’s probably gonna be what it’s always been but I’m not doing anything so might as well just relax until the inevitable.
I’m now 39. He’s gonna be 27. We live together and it’s genuinely the healthiest relationship I’ve ever been in in my whole life. He communicates. He’s loving as hell. His family is truly wonderful and not judgmental at all. I often forget I’m much older than him since we are constantly goofing around and cracking up.
Glad you are where you want to be!

Oh my GOD my mother would use that shit on me. Unfortunately it worked and I truly believed she never hit me. She definitely hit me in the face at least once. Other times she would throw shit at me. Both of my parents did, actually. I was remembering my childhood one day, idk what specifically, and my friend got sad. She said "I always hoped you didn't have physical abuse on top of all the other shit you faced... I guess not." Now, her boyfriend's mother used to beat him with extension cords, so I was like "waiiit what are you talking about my mother would NEVER." And then that trend went around on tik tok "He doesn't hit me, he just ..." And I realized that my mother behaves in a manner towards me that is extremely similar to an abusive boyfriend. She expects about as much emotional work from me too. I've disowned her. My friend's mom is now my godmother. I highly doubt given both of my parents' absolute torture of their children that any of us will ever trust anyone enough to partner up. Already my youngest siblings are talking about how they never want to marry or have children and they're barely 15 years old. How does someone not perceive themselves as a failed parent when 0% of your five children want to repeat your lifestyle? IDK, my parents have the confidence of gods.

Wow thanks for that Leon, very timely. I’m 20 and just got out of a ridiculously similar situation in the sense of a girl w trust issues cheats on u. She was my first long term relationship and it ended a month ago and I have been struggling of course but I feel like I’ve been handling it in a mostly healthy way, focusing on my priorities like the gym and work and school etc. but idk y but you seem to be the only person I could find talking abt something similar in a way that truly enlightened me. Especially when you talked abt how you had “almost PTSD” from ur past relationship you would feel guilty abt doing something normal like hanging w ur friends. I didn’t even realize how much trust my ex lacked in me until I saw this podcast. So thank you so much for that Leon!!! Absolutely love the content

I met my husband in college and we are now coming up on 26 years. It’s not been easy. We’ve had to deal with our own histories, and sometimes it still comes up. We have two adult children who seem to be well adjusted human beings, so I tell myself “We must have done something right.” I think the advice you gave here is great. If it is important to your partner, it needs to matter to you. No one said you had to love (or hate it) it as much as them, but it still needs to be important.

Thank you for being vulnerable in sharing some of the painful experiences that shaped you into the person you are now. Resilience and hope are precursors to well-being, and you nailed the description here.

I stumbled upon the Lush's shared channel this year and I wanted to let you I appreciate both you and Mrs Lush. You both have very grounded, understanding stances on life, love, whatever. Leon, you have a great balance going on with your life and your channel. One of the big things I look for in creators are people who challenge themselves and their viewers to grow and be happier. Even when you criticize the more scandalous or egregious videos you watch, you have a way about it that feels comfortable. When you talk about subjects that aren't so nice, you do a wonderful job making the environment feel safe and open to vulnerability.
Your insecurities are valid and that's a part of what makes us humans. You and Mrs Lush have great heads sitting upon your shoulders and I appreciate you both.
Edit: shout out to the *one* "subscriber" who is the only person to hit thumbs down on your videos. The person quite literally hits dislike within ten minutes of your upload. They are insanely jealous of what you've got.

The best relationship advice that was bestowed upon me was: (not necessarily in this order lol)
    1. You know you're ready for a life commitment (marriage or life partnership), which is when you both go from "I & me, to us & we" mentality
    2. Never go ever go to bed angry
    3. Never air your "dirty laundry" to others
    4. Keep the "fights" fair, and the sex dirty
    5. Never stop "dating" eachother
    6. Know when to keep your mouth shut, it's not always about being right, but being heard.
7.. If it's not working, don't be afraid to throw in the gloves, but if you have kids do your absolute best to be the best co-parents you can be.

I'm not surprised you met your wife shortly thereafter. She exudes this kind of caregiving, warmth, and patience vibes with commitment to the team that you guys are. I think you two have a great, healthy relationship. Now you seem a bit embarrassed and even ashamed of that previous relationship. It is a common residual of toxic relationships usually felt by the one who was abused. I bet you don't like using the word "victim", however, is what is. It also means you came out of the right side of this thing. Good share..

This experience you shared with us is so damn similar to my situation right now. I'm in that part where I found a room for rent on facebook marketplace in this 4 bedroom place after having my partner cheat on me with their coworker while we were living together. It's been really hard. I'm 21 as well. Like I said, so damn similar. And your advice really has lifted my spirits about it. And hopefully I'll be able to find the right person someday too. Thanks leon ♡

You are the first person, whose channel I subscribed to. I have been following you for years, and it's crazy how I actually already know one, or two of the things that you talked about, in this video. I just remembered them from random times in the past, when you've mentioned them, since I've seen so many of your videos over the years, from your, (now), three TH-cam channels. It's kinda like when you have a friend for a long time, and you just kinda learn about them and their life, from little tidbits of information that they give you over the years. It's like you're just one of my boys. If I were to somehow run into you in real life, it would be weird, bc I know so much about you, and you've made my crack-up so many times, that it would feel like running into one of my friends. Except that you would have no idea who I was, lol. Regardless, it takes balls to put yourself, and your story out there like that, (think Eminem, lol). At the same time, it humanizes you, and that vulnerability is what people are drawn to. Keep killin' it, bro.

Absolutely loved the episode. Always tend to. Definitely reminds me of my husband and I. I was in such a toxic relationship and it hit me on my birthday how terrible he was with his miserable lies and I knew I was finally done. I decided one night not long after to go out and just enjoy a night out on my own and that ended up being the night that I met the most amazing man, whom I've barely been apart from for over 15 years now, married for 12. He definitely had PTSD from his past relationships and us realizing together how a real relationship should be was transformative. We've had fights like any couple but would always end up happy and we have learned from them. Now we have a beautiful daughter and enjoy different things together that we wouldn't have on our own, but are still able to do our separate things without any issue, like yearly trips with the guys, because of the fundamental trust we have. It's an amazing feeling when you can share a trust with someone like that.

Very relatable & wise advice. My marriage is built on the 3 great pillars; trust, honesty & respect. I was a lil squeamish when you mentioned the mice. Lol However, i think it was an excellent analogy.
Another thing to remember before going into any relationship.... you have to love yourself before you expect anyone else to.

Thanks for opening up Leon. You never know who you are helping by showing a little bit of vulnerability.
My story isn't exactly like yours, but I had to deal with a cheating ex and had to reprioritize things & rebuild my life.
And there was a time where I thought having a stable, loving and respectful relationship wasn't in the cards for me.
But I can happily say, despite going through that shit time I'm now happily married to my best friend. And we just had our first kid.
So to anyone reading this, if you happen to be going through a rough patch and it doesn't seem like it'll end - trust me, it will. Just focus on rebuilding yourself in a positive manner and things will get better.

Respect is vital, everything stems from it but it's so easily lost. It's been 2 years since my 10 year relationship ended, there was no cheating that I know of but he sure thought I was. The silence and miscommunication created resentment over so many years that couldn't be fixed. Now I'm 39 and have to online date, Its the reason I've waited 2 years to start, I dread it! Holding out hope I'll find my person. Love this topic and style video, although a good brainworms video is a nice escapism.

I'm not sure where this is going to land on the comment richter scale, or if you will ever even see see/read this. But, I started watching and tuning into your main channel during a really turbulent time in my life as a younger dude. I had just graduated from college during the peak of covid and was dealing with the loss of a really near and dear person in my life, and just felt super lost and not sure where my place was.
Watching your videos was a big positive part of my day and I could just unload and just get a good laugh and really connect with your content.
On a really bad day, I had just decided to get out of the house and out of my head and join my sister on a local shopping trip. I had really hated leaving the house at the time and just had felt so low about myself and just life in general.
Long story short, as I headed into a store I was sure I was going to not really enjoy being in with my sister, I turned my head and saw the one and only Leon Lush. I felt like the biggest weirdo on planet earth thinking about walking up to you, but it was one of those things where I just said "Fuck it" in my head and just walked up to say hi.
You were just as cool and down to earth as you are in your videos, and it meant the world to me just being able to say "what's up" and have you realize I was one of your viewers.
I really hope you keep these types of videos up, because you're good people, and a great story teller. Sorry for the long story, but I just had to pop in and give a personal anecdote. This type of content transcends in helpful ways and I hope you know that. And I hope you know you've helped me more than I could ever repay.
    Cheers, Leon
    -Pete

I don't want to name the shopping center just because the internet is weird, but it was super cool seeing you there and with Mrs Lush. Super cool experience and glad you are pursuing this type of content, down to earth and a great watch.

I've been in relationships where the booze mattered to them more than I did, and they refused to believe what an asshole they were while drinking. It ended up with me having an unhealthy attitude towards anyone drinking when they were my partner, I started anticipating the problems before they happened.

Funny thing happened. A year ago a went for a job interview and the manager asked and also said that he really needs an honest employee because the other guys he had kept lying. Then after getting the job and also moving in with my manager, he cheated on his wife and lied to me and also wanted me to lie to his wife. A bit of brainworms I think to pretend to be in desperate need of an honest person but then constantly lie and try to force them to lie. Anyway, I hope this comment is valid to the topic.

If you have an issue with mice try getting a cat or two. When our cat disappeared last year (we live in a rural area so he was probably killed by a fox) I started discovering mice droppings around the house. Over the course of the next two months we caught 17 mice in traps that we set around the house. During that period we adopted another cat (a feeble thing of barely two months found abandoned downtown) and once she got a taste of a mouse that was caught in a trap that she was able to reach before I did, we stopped having mice issues.
The only problem you might find with this is the fact that cats will sometimes leave a dead mouse at your doorstep. I'm not sure if the leave the mouse for later because they are full at the moment or because they want to show you they are earning their keep. Regardless, if your wife has a phobia that could be a problem.
