    That's why the show is so good. They're dedicated to making it as authentic and natural as can be. Everyone's hard work certainly shows. Outlander is one of the best shows ever made. Great acting, beautiful scenery, intensely gripping storyline. Definitely a must watch!

    So interesting to hear that Sam has an agile mind and is extraordiarily professional in his attitude and speaks like a native" highest praise from the native speaker himself hey way to go Sam 👏🥰🥰.

    Having just come across this clip from so many years ago, I was amazed that Sam's accent in real life has changed so much. Here he sounds Scottish/British. Now in interviews he speaks with an American accent.

    for a very long time I have wanted to learn Goidelic or scottish gaelic. i have always thought it a beautiful language. it is the language of many ansesters. I wish I could have a language coach like this. my grandda left me a small book but without a native speaker it is difficult to truly learn it.

      Check your local area. Around Seattle, WA (U.S.A.), for example there's classes to take in Irish. And don't call it Irish Gaelic! It might well be Scottish Gaelic but in Ireland, it's Irish language period, end of sentence. I took a few classes in Scottish Gaelic but ran out of money before I could take much. Also, check out duolingo.com.

    I dont know about gaelic, but they did an amazing job with french in season 2!! I was impressed ;)

    • @aumelb
      @aumelb 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's because half of the cast in season 2 are actually French.

    • @barbarabootes9915
      @barbarabootes9915 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@aumelb Yes, but the non-French actors also nailed the French-speaking parts. Of course, Caitriona already knew it from her time in Paris, but Sam really surprised me--to the point where I looked it up on Google to see if he actually spoke French! Apparently, he does not...To get the pronunciation that authentic, however, is really not easy...impressive!

    Its Amazing, the Scottish Gaelic, has a lot of the same words in my Irish gaeilge. I knew just a couple of the words, but how does Irish geailge, have some of the exact same words used by scotts, iv sadly never been to Scotland. But iv always felt, like it some of connection, to the scotts. Like were cousins of some sort. Maybe just in passion & soul. But all the same, id love to know, were quite the distance to be using some of the exact same words. Slàinte

      VERY few are fluent in Irish. You don’t hear conversations in Irish or Scottish Gaelic. Knowing 200 words does not allow conversations. Their are Gaelic tv stations in Scotland and Ireland, perhaps one tenth of one percent of the populations watch regularly. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

      Everyone in Ireland learns Irish in school up to Leaving Cert level (18) and would have a good enough smattering of the language to have a basic conversation. It is quite like Scots gaelic, particularly the dialect spoken in Donegal

      But she seems to have worked really hard to get better. Watching her handle a horse in Season 4 was really quite impressive. Evidently she and Sam frequently
      go riding together on their times off since they enjoy it so much....

      I feel like it works, though. Even if she had a lot of experience for her time, Claire wouldn't have ridden horses everywhere in the 20th century like the others would.

      +Sandie Washington That is fascinating! He has much to be proud of; the sets are phenomenal. I heard Gary Lewis, the actor who plays Colum, say once in an interview how proud he was that so many Scottish artisans were being employed in the production. It not only provided employment opportunities for so many local craftsman but also gave authenticity to the work. Well done!
