Runner length in turbo manifolds It’s definitely an interesting topic and I’d always believed in long tubes for better power, as in more usable even n/a but also believed that they would be better suited for higher rpm or the longer length they were tuned being top end power oriented. I remember reading a paper years ago on runner length and formula’s to calculate rough length and I took from this that longer runner moved the torque band higher up but not sure if this was 4-2-1 or 4-1 merger or even 8-1,on the other hand for two stroke engines it makes complete sense to me as far as expansion chamber frequency tuning is concerned

longer runners in the intake or longer primary tubes in the exhaust move power lower-short runners move it up

Richard im going to be switching to rapid 3d's, 3d printed carbon fiber intake manifold that has shown promising gains on other vehicles, maybe something you want to look into andd test for your viewers, wish i could post a picture on here for you to see, save a lot of weight and no heat soak. My combo is a gen 4 6 liter with ported ls3 heads 232/242@.050 .615/.605 on a 112.5 lobe sep and a bullseye billet 92/96 turbo, holley efi and it will run on e98. Will be firing it for the first time in a couupke weeks here. Cheers from montana!

Hi Richard, Have you done any tests on long tube turbo exhaust manifolds vs short? I've seen photos of turbo race motors with long tubes but I've never really understood why more performance street cars don't do it. Is it just a matter of packaging?!

    Dang late for the QnA
What's you guys thoughts about a sbc350 long tub hookerheader to tie in to a 1967 camaro cast iron exhaust manifold that set up for a turbo from that factory all feeding a vs racing turbo to a 450 holley carburetor.
