    I lived in Miami Shores and often transited Haulover cut to go fishing in the Gulfstream. Smart boaters would go slow when it was choppy.
    The cut was originally dug to give north Biscayne Bay a drain. Inside the cut is a huge sandbar and several spoil islands.

    Been a boater for about 60 yrs, I must say I have never seen so many IDOTS on the water today, i guess they feel if you live near the water you have to have a boat, To many do not have a clue,

    I HAVE A QUESTION:
    This might be a well known answer by all of your folks, but, what is the rolled up blue thing on most of these boats.. I can assert that it is foam, also, will assert that beings it is foam, that it is used as a floating device of some sort? What is the practical application of the rolled up blue thing? Thank you.

    • @cygnusx-1318

      I had same question

    • @drubradley8821
      @drubradley8821 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cygnusx-1318 I went to AMAZON and found them but our of the 50 to 60 that I looked at, not a single description explaining its practical application. Is it for safety, is it for fun, or is it just a soft Yoga mat to cover up the harshness of allot of the flat walking areas that have that "high-grip" areas so you can lay on this mat while sun tanning, vs. laying on the aggressive grip tape walking areas, that feels like sand paper? I don't know. Are they like a tool that you tow behind the boat and floats, and you can ride it for fun? again, I don't know. Heck, for all I know, everybody has them on their boats, just because everybody has them on their boats, lol.. Nobody knows why they are there, other then, all their buddy's have them on their boats, so, I might as well have one too... I don't know how or what they are for, but, dang it, I got one.. LOL... I am curious as to what they are for.. I am in the city, so, all this marine life style is foreign to me, although interesting to me, still just a life style that is odd, or strange, sue to having no experience of said life style... Now, what I find strange, is the fact that the channel owner gave my comment a "HEART type Thumbs Up", yet, didn't answer the question, which is fine, that doesn't offend me, but is where I then think the above statement, they there are only on the boats, because everybody else has them on their boats, and nobody knows why , just there. LOL

      @@drubradley8821 They are just mats to lie on in the water when you are out relaxing in the water. Basically expensive floats.

    The rolled-up thing I think you must be refurring about, is most likley a bumpper,, used to put between you and another boat or dock to prevent any damage or schraches,

    • @BOATSNAPS
      @BOATSNAPS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, the rolled up thing is called a floating foam island, used to float and have fun on the water.

    • @dougdrake6637
      @dougdrake6637 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And the thing you called a "bumpper" (sic) is technically known as a "fender" in marine jargon.

    If you are the Skipper of a Boat, meaning that you are responsible for the safety of those onboard, never, but never, let those people ride in the bow of the boat in a place like this or anywhere else that has waves and/or wakes, unless your vessel has 4 times the freeboard of the largest wave. Never, but never, let kids ride with their legs hanging over the side. The camera loves idiots, newbies and googans......

    • @dougdrake6637
      @dougdrake6637 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Was not aware if that rule of thumb but glad to know it now. That means in a 2 foot wave you need 8 feet of distance from the bow surface they are sitting on to the waterline. Yikes! Not many of those boats have that
