As a 66-year-old man and an ARMY I'm just going to say one thing In response to something you said. I know culturally it can be different but generally speaking being emotional as a man is not only okay and acceptable, it's preferred. Men showing emotion is not a bad thing. Men who hold emotion in, however, for whatever reason can be more unhealthy. Holding emotions back and bottling them up and not sharing them with people can really mess with your mental health. Humans are emotional beings without regard to gender. If something makes you emotional and you are able to express that you will find much appreciation and it allows others to empathize with you.

Very well said. Holding things in only leads to so much pain and/or explosive reactions. Expressing emotions as a man should be normalised. It would benefit everyone.

I agree... it's ok to say I am not ok and to express it. If want a healthy and high EI, get therapy and express ur emotions. There are no right or wrong answers. You feel what you feel. There is nothing wrong with that. We're not robots. We're living emotional beings and we should be taught to express them in a healthy way.

That’s one of the best things about being ARMY - being openly emotional. As an Asian American, I’ve been taught to not openly cry or show emotion bc it means weakness but it’s refreshing to see Korean men share their emotions, like BTS. It’s genuine and freeing.

I used to cry a lot when I was little, so much that my family taunted me back then and even now. Growing up, I shut all of my emotions down and never let anyone see me cry anymore, no matter the circumstances. I think that's part of why I identify so much with Suga. He really helped me grow and learn how to manage my emotions. I haven't even known them for 6 months, but each member gave me comfort somehow. That's just crazy to me how fast people people grow attached to the guys. I really love Bangtan and Army so much 💜

The fact that you were so quick to educate yourself and learn more about BTS, and that you come across as genuinely upset when you see the hate, just proves that you're a decent person. Even if you had preconceived notions of BTS in the past due to stereotypes around you, it didn't take much convincing for you to realize that was wrong. It's really nice to see. Don't beat yourself up too much, man, if we're raised in certain environments, we can't always help our perspectives until someone else comes along and shows us a new one.

Proud of you for actually realising that you had been influenced and that we all need to find out truth for ourselves instead of blindly believing people who are promoting negative beliefs. We can all become better humans every day. Real men can and do cry and bottling things up in the name of manliness does more harm than good in this world. One of the best things I see is younger people becoming more aware of their emotions and learning life skills in how to manage them. They have my admiration.

I was very hesitant to listen to them because I didn’t want to give my time and energy to a boyband. I finally watched some of their videos around March 2022 and I couldn’t help but see they are pure talent. Now I am fully addicted to their music and dance performances. 💜Borahae 💜

Some of this nonsense persists today. Recently both V and Jimin got death threats online, and some women followed V into the elevator at the parking garage of his apt building and got arrested for stalking. BigHit’s legal dept. goes after any threats, slander, etc to the extent of the law and does not settle out of court. They report their legal actions on Weverse every quarter.

“Recording an album in a garage”- this was July 2014 when they were in LA for the Korean reality show American Hustle Life and at the same time they were recording their 4th album Dark & Wild. Since they were away from their BigHit studio, the producers bought all new sound equipment in LA, (for a lot cheaper than they could buy in Korea) and used one of their friend’s garage. They recorded their singing at a nearby studio. So it is not like they started off in some random garage, this is how they recorded and produced in-between filming the show. They had a proper studio and company building in Seoul.

I'm an older American woman who found BTS in early 2021. I've watched all these videos and also got angry. I also got angry thinking I came out of these lines of heritage with such stupidity and ignorance. I think if people have never traveled outside their home country, they are more likely to be this way, but that's no excuse. These are supposedly educated people making these comments. I have no respect for Any of them! Also, I don't know all the idol groups that were so mean to BTS and, as a result, I really don't listen to or watch idol groups other than BTS. BTS has forgiven many of them, but I'm not as strong as they are in that regard. Another thing you need to watch is behind the scenes at some of BTS' concerts - different kind of hardships shown there. These guys give their 100%+ to put on a good concert or show for their fans. I've NEVER seen artists so hard working and so caring about their fans. ANYWAY, thank you for having an open heart and mind and going down the BTS journey! It is well worth it, in my opinion. You are welcome with open arms.

17:17 To answer you; Now those haters and new haters are hating even more, because that’s all they can do. BTS has reached to a height that they are way out of their league, way too successful. These hate comments on twitter won’t do anything when in the real life BTS can sell out stadiums anywhere anytime in just a couple minutes.

I'll never forget when my daughter came to me crying about the hate that was put out to Jhope.....that was when i started paying attention and got angry myself....then when ivsaw what a sweetheart he was and the other boys at thst time,2015, thats when i started following them.
I had to close my Twitter and other social media accounts cause as a Deep Southern born women, we don't let such crap slide!!! I wanted to go to South Korea and beat up each of the scum that posted such hate!!!😢
If you watch these young men, Suga was more vocal and smiling at first.....then after so many hardships and his accident and hurting his shoulder he got really quiet and not as smiling.
Also if not for those blessed Army that filmed and posted so many things, i don't think the guys would of been so loved here in America or other countries...Thank you ARMY'S 🫰💜
i have watched and learned to love these special young men since back in 2015 and have cried many tears along with them.
Your journey is so special to see, you are a truly kind person and your heart is open for all to see. Thank you and I'm praying for you young man. Blessings 🙏🕊🙏🕊🙏🕊💜💜💜

Okay so V wasn't particularly from the poorest bg its just tht his granparents were farmers nd his parents use to do business. He was sent to his grandparents when he was very young nd if i remember right he spent his childhood until the time he got into bts was wd his granparents so he was basically much more attached to them bcz they were more like his parents. He recently gave an interview on you quiz on the block nd talked bout how he used to sleep wd his granmom nd u can feel how much he was close to her.
When we say wV is very humble it means he is to the lvl noone can understand. And she passed when he was in indonesia ig for a show wd his grp so he could't be there when his grandmom left. After few days bts won an award nd that was not even a month later her passing nd tht show gets broadcasted on tv so he thanked his parents nd his grandmom in the winning speech nd later when this concert happened tht u saw he was crying he revealed tht a lot of u were concerned bout me tht t happened to V why is he so silent nd sad so bcz fans were concerned bout his well beig he revealed tht his grandmom passed nd tht award he gave ashout out to his grandmom since she always wanted to see him on tv but it was a little late nd he burst out bcz ARMY is like a family to BTS but who knows he will get dragged for something so vulnerable.

I'm embarassed and disgusted with myself that I held a lot of those same preconcieved ideas about k-pop boybands. I have to give props to you for being informed about Japan's colonial history. One thing I dislike about xCeleste's video is that it doesn't give proper context, for example the fact that multiple Korean celebrities have worn the same T-shirt even on TV but it "suddenly" became an issue for BTS - and mind you, most international K-pop fans sided with the Japanese nationalists which is what made a localized fake outrage into international gossip.
Same happened with the supposed "misogyny" which was orchastrated by a "feminist" publication in Korea who basically target men for notoriety - hence the air quotes, they aren't really feminists. They even picked apart the line "break the ceiling that cages you" from Not Today as being "misogynistic" because...reasons. I'm a feminist and not even a mild one, pretty radical, so if BTS had ever been misogynistic, I would have noticed. There's a world of a difference between writing about how you viewed the world as a teenboy and actually perpetuating hate and BTS have said multiple times that several of their early songs were words for their younger selves or words they wanted to express as kids but lacked the maturity to do so.

Dude, I started watching your videos as soon as you posted Reaction Videos about "Mouse" which is one of my two all time favorite Kdramas. So it was a pleasant surprise to see you starting reacting to BTS, which I've been a huge fan of since 2017. :,)
I must say that I had some kind of prejudice towards you when I clicked the first video (just like you yourself had before knowing anything about BTS) because A LOT of people do react to BTS on TH-cam when they realise they get a lot of views and maybe money from it, and it's obviously fine if it starts that way and you then realise "Oh, I actually like them!😁✌️" , and I must say that you quickly became one of my favorite reactors of BTS Content. :,) your videos reacting to them just seem so genuine and I adore that you always stop the video if it's something you wanna talk about and then rewind to the point of the video you might have missed. You generally seem interested and invested and it's such a joy to watch.
Keep going, you seem like an incredible emotionally intelligent person and I cant wait to see more upcoming content from you. 💜🙏

Yes from what I gather Korean didnt want BTS to enlist but BTS themselves didnt want special treatment, they wanted to serve their country like everyone else. They also would of been looked down upon by Korean citizens if they took the easy way out.

It was a no-win situation for them from the start. They weren’t even the ones to seek exemption nor was it their fault they were the only ones qualifying for deferment, but they were still dragged for it. I like that they took the situation into their own hands and made the entire “controversy” moot.

This was one of the most genuine reactions to this video I think I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen many! Thank you for being open and honest and it’s okay to cry! We normally cry when someone is trying to hurt BTS and then get angry. I have to skip the part when JK takes the hamburgers and they’re so rude to him because that segment literally breaks my heart, I cannot watch it! 😢
It’s been really fun watching you do the reactions to BTS and I hope you continue! 💜💜💜

Hi there, I'm so happy you have been reacting to BTS. I first watched your channel when you were reacting to K-dramas, such as Itaewon Class. I really value your honesty, not only in comments but also in emotions. As you get to know BTS, I highly encourage you to watch Boracity Magazine. Her channel is an ARMY channel, and she does have a point of view on things, and her videos are so well thought out and well-researched. You also need to check out an ARMY-made docu-series of BTS called the Rise of Bangtan - again super well-edited, well -researched and professional videos. Rise of Bangtan not only details BTS's history through the words of the BTS members, but also includes interviews and points of view on K-pop as an industry, and also perceptions of other K-pop idols. So looking forward to more of your content!

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Rosan(xCeleste) does a good job with this summary. She is a 2014 army. I hope she updates this video or does a part 2. Not pleasant info to hear but I don't want to run away from things that make BTS who they are today. I was really taken aback by 1st listen/watch as baby army. And u know the USA media do the same thing. They barely talk about BTS. They make u think oh this music is for young girls. This will not be my thing. But that is so wrong. I ignored BTS for years. It makes no sense. I love anime and am a big otaku. I like Asian fashion and food. Why would i ignore BTS? I am still mystified years later. Appreciate your honesty. Love hearing ur thoughts. A few months ago i watched the full video of that doc explaining BTS and the white paper project. Army is truly amazing. Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟

7:00 Watching this, it seemed to me that because of Suga’s personality, you could think of him as the most vulnerable person. However, of all the members, I think it would be more difficult to hurt him, since he was able to cope even with the fact that his close people, his family were against his music career , but despite this he continued to do it because he loves it.
I also want to note that he responded to these rappers on the haight in his side in the song Agust D - Agust D, which I highly recommend listening to

Second, it seems you love to do deep dives and want to react to them in parallel with your music reactions. May I recommend Boracity’s channel, where she argues on behalf of BTS and disputes rumors and naysayers?
Also, “Rise To Bangtan” is a FANMADE documentary series, and it is by far one of the BEST origin stories/documentaries that are NOT made by Big Hit themselves. It ends before the Pandemic, but it’s SOO addicting. You can find it here on YT.
Run BTS only gets better. Their music is MUCH MORE INTERESTING because they are interesting and sincere human beings behind the scenes. 💜

To imagine that during sucha a difficutlt ime to be attached by hundreds of people in sucha digusting manner....But Tae pulled through, and what is even more admirable he kept his honest and loving soul even after this horrible incident, that in many of us would kill any love towards humanity.

I just want to clear something up. The so-called misogynistic lyrics refer to War Of Hormone - which is an honest, and humorous look at teens and young men dealing with the hormonal changes, and all that goes with it. And comes, from what I could see, from taking a single line from the song, and not taking notice of the lines around it. 💜
I am a female in my mid 50s, and I LOVE War Of Hormone. And I do not find it offensive at all. In fact, the only way you could be offended by it, is if you were TRYING to be offended.💜

Suga had an accident due to which shoulder injury for almost 10 yrs and then finally its surgery , appendix , his mom had heart surgery his dad had liver cancer and he was also from a poor family due to which his parents disapproved his music work and wanted him to do some govt job .. He even on time told he had to choose between taking busses or eat food due to no money during his training days so he also worked as delivery driver ... He experienced depression , ocd , social anxiety and stuff due to these reasons and also due to hard time on bts .. But all these made him the strongest person ever .. We armies are so proud of him to fight all this and come so far.. He seem mostly quiet but he is also fun cool and sweetest comfort person ever. He told about these hardships in his song amygdala .. 15:45 I'm a '23 Army, so still learning myself, but from what I understand the accusations mostly come from RM's track 'Joke' which just use typical insults towards men (but are actually insulting to women instead, like calling a man a pussy - which implies that being a woman is less than - but are also really common, and these sorts of typical things can be used by women too), it was also a time in SK when there was a huge uproar related to violence against women so it was perfect timing...from what I understand the track that BH/BTS apologized for was War of Hormones, but I think BTS was thrown under the bus for this one. The lyrics are actually really poorly translated and imply things that can mean on thing in English but not have the same connotation in Korean....so, while yes, it was great for them as men to have a better understand of how patriarchy effects language and insults - BTS themselves really weren't being what they were accused of, or at least they weren't doing anything that wasn't a cultural norm at the time (like Jin being a bit rough with a woman in the Boy in Luv MV, but was based on scenes from popular dramas at the time - which he himself felt really bad about and kept apologizing for in the behind the scenes).

I'm on 10:21 in this reaction, and I really wanted to comment on that topic. The K-pop community does NOT actually understand the concept of "plagiarism," and they use that word in everything. K-pop fans (most) don't want anything meaningful in content; they want - visuals and photocards... I remember that in January of 2020, the first BTS conference that was held in London, Kingston University, there was a scientific report on that topic, and I completely agree with that - they were accused of something that's not plagiarism, like "hair colours" - come on! The whole narrative is just disgusting! Considering they're actually one of the few artists that are considered "kpop" (I disagree with that) that are actually free to create their own content from 1 to 100. K-pop is literally stealing recycled beats from America from the beginning and using black culture as aesthetics. BTS never used anything without proper mention, and all these examples at the beginning of this video show that groups from the BIG 3 companies and their pathetic fans were trying to create a narrative that's just FALSE. And after Big Hit Ent. started to sue these ppl u can see examples of crying antis everywhere. BTS is the only group sabotaged throughout their career by Korean companies, the media, and international ones as well, but we are used to it - in a corrupted system it's normal to be the odd one when fighting against power for fairness.
13:07 - And you are right! There's nothing to apologize for, but the pressure that was upon them at that time was great.
14:25 - I'm glad u mentioned that all of this doesn't make sense to u! Well, it wasn't making sense to ARMY as well, and all these accusations are just senseless and absurd, born out of pure hatred.
25:18 - Imagine being accused of "plagiarism" because of stage aesthetics on the first three seconds of a screen! That's absurd, and not only that the creative director and I should say "creative" because he's part the staff at YG ent. company, who should consider that their own "creative" decision was actually a replica of Seo Taiji graphic... ST and not the "& the boys" decision.
30:07 - "Inhumane" is the right term to describe the problem with "comfort women" and it's really heavy topic. Nevertheless, BTS were included in the conversation, and the thing is that a lot of K-pop groups stans actually sided with right-wing Japanese accusations. This period was one of the heaviest and most hard times to be an ARMY because of the hypocrisy from all sides... I know some of the ppl who participated in writing the White Paper Project and cheers to them for being objective and strong enough to actually highlight hard topics amidst an irrational backlash.
31:34 - Just now the irony in this... As an academic myself, hearing "photographer" and then the spin on the narrative was awful. The whole issue was resolved (in BTS favor), but consider the plagiarism accusations were NEVER about music and always about visual images, which is... unserious in my opinion. Compare this with the countless of time K-pop groups actually plagiarized music and none of it came into light...
36:50 - Spot on! Naver = Google in SK. Downplaying achievements...
38:08 - I don't want to comment on that one because it's a vulnerable topic. But let's face it - politicians' children are exempted without reason, insignificant sports figures are exempted, and BTS are not? Irrational, the SK government used them for a purpose, and that's another topic of discussion.
41:48 - the hypocrisy of the line is that representatives of classical music are exempted by law, and BTS are not. The ONLY reason Korea made BTS serve was to promote the Korean military, although the group itself brings 3% of the national GDP. In my country, they will be awarded medals, and there will probably be statues for that kind of money brought to the country. The hypocrisy of South Korea is that they exempt sons of politicians and other businessmen...
The critique and accusations from K-pop stans come ONLY from jealousy and nothing more both from agencies, groups, and fans of these groups.
I'm petty (pettiness level 50: cent) - I would diss every artist, agency, groups and not let them breathe... but BTS are just good ppl.
And one more addition to the topic - PLEASE, understand that kpop is not BTS, and kpop actually the creator of that evaluates BTS as artists. Seo Taiji is the so-called "Father of K-pop" in '92, but he only recognized BTS as his successor, because of their message and lyrics. trust me as a fan of ST first, and then I discovered BTS when they debuted and became a fan after N.O. in 2014, ST doesn't give credit to anyone. YG was a backup dancer only to ST&Boys and did not contribute to their music at all. BTS are an example of an anomaly in K-pop, and they are a group of artists that will remain in music history books, unlike others.
*U came in an era where unfortunate BTS are enlisting and a lot of bad apples that are more loud... But trust me - solo stans and multi-stans that discredit BTS overall artistry will be demolished soon. 2015 we ill come back in full power and all the negative voices will be silenced.
46:43 - people grow up, they are meant to educate themselves through the knowledge they receive in the years they live. It's normal for a person to have prejudices, but the most important part is that u overcame them! Sincerely, thank u!

The one thing I love about BTS, their content, and the people like Celeste is: If you have not been with BTS from the beginning, you feel like you have been. I've only been an ARMY since early 2020, yet I feel like I've been with them from the very beginning because they do have such a presence and connection with their fans. I might not have been there when they did this show or that concert or this or that, but I can watch, I can catch up, and it feels like I have been with them from the start.

There were many media personality, network and shows that were looking down on them when they were starting. Coz these media was used to the big 3 companies kowtowing and were in business relationship with them in favor of the idols of these companies. But Bighit didn't have such resources to be "friendly" with them so the boys suffered in being ignored or being sidelined. BUT once BTS got big, and these media and networks noticed that, they tried to be friendly with BTS. And the boys esp Jin, the oldest hyung, gave it to them in an interview before he enlisted in the military. Told the hosts off and matter of factly, reminded them that "yes, you treated us badly." And it was on cam, the hosts sputtered because it was recorded and the whole world were able to know how they treated BTS and how they're sucking up to them now. But it was real classy how, after that, Jin went on with the interview as usual, like he didn't drop a bomb. There's that graciousness that told in not so many ways "yes, you need us more than we ever needed you" but never arrogance. There's also a bit of pettiness in the boys (which is natural coz they're just humans and those people deserve that!) in that as far as I know, they never attended Gaon awards ever after, and some other shows as well. But in all, a super class act. My hats off to them.
