It's so funny that you didn't believe Jin's story, bc it was true 😭😭 He was getting off a bus on his way to university when BigHit's scout saw him and invited him to casting. He was supposed to be a model under the company, like acting in music videos and stuff like that, but he was proposed to join the group. Before that he was approached by a scout from another company (one of the biggest at that time) but he declined, bc he thought it was a scam 😂

@@mplahke It was like that for much longer. Even in the '90s there were models who were scouted while working or just on the streets. But it was more prevalent in the earlier decades as you're saying, especially in the film industry when the quality of sound and filming wasn't as high as it is now so the looks mattered even more than they are now (and it was easier for the industry to mistreat the young performers to act exactly how they want them to).

The company they give me is so profound it is literally life saving. I will miss them so much while they serve their military duty but they love their fans so much that they have worked so hard to leave content to help us deal. Of course the last ten years they have made so much content I still haven't seen everything. So I will fill my days with episodes of RunBTS, BonVoyage, and In the Soop. Jin is pretty close to the ideal beauty standard in Korea. When they started breaking out into the international market, he was concerned that his looks wouldn't "translate" to a foreign audience, and he was feeling quite selfconscious and nervous. When it turned out that his looks were still appreciated even out in the world, he JOKINGLY started using "World Wide Handsome" as a way to combat his insecurity and OWN his position as the groups primary visual. It's become a hilarious, much-loved gimmick of his.

Joon's facial bone structure is pretty unique. Especially when they were younger, for many international fans he was one of the first members to be remembered by face. His features are just really recognizable and in a place like S.Korea where they have set standards of beauty they don't really like 'different' so he was considered 'ugly'. This is just an explanation for the reactions of the past and of course not every S.Korean thought this but the number who did was substantial enough that the comments got to him. This is one of the reasons why I fell down the BTS rabbit hole last November, their love for their fans. How many musicians would live stream directly after a concert or performance, and who would start a live just because they missed Army. Who requires security to get around and yet will get on a live nearly 11 years in to their career just to say see you later before enlisting in the military. That is truly what drew me in at the beginning and the music is just so indescribable, just nothing like it.

    1. From the beginning Bang Shi-hyuk, the then-CEO of Big Hit, required the rappers to write their own lyrics, so that's why they have so many writing credits. At last count, RM had 217, Suga 167, J-hope 137. RM also writes for the BTS vocalists and other groups. The writing credits for the vocalists are 20+ for Jungkook and between 15-19 each for V, Jimin, and Jin (I don't remember the exact number).
    2. We love it when they break each other's records. It's so much fun to see.
    3. It's so true that they have no ego, just respect and appreciation for each other's roles in the band. You see it in their non-music content.
Suga has a talkshow called Suchwita, where the members come on as guests when they were promoting their solo work. When JK was the guest and he and Suga talked about his achievements, there was no trace of jealousy. All you can see in Suga is pride in seeing his little brother so successful.
Out of all the members, Suga was the only one who went on a solo tour (April-August). During his last three shows in Seoul, he invited a member each night on stage (JK, Jimin, RM). They would perform a duet and then Suga would LEAVE the stage for his member to perform his own song. What artist would leave his own stage? Suga did it because he knew his members missed ARMY and ARMY missed them (their last concert together was in October 2022).

Interesting that you talk about the competition between band members being the norm in your experience. These guys were taught from their early trainee days the value of "the team". They constantly build each other up (the individual members confidence helps the team as a whole) and I have heard them say they avoid jealousy with the mindset that "when the light shines on one of us, it shines on all of us". With 7 superstars, the light shines on each of them at different times. It's a beautiful thing. You are correct...BTS is so much more than their musical talents. We are initially drawn in by their music (which is beyond amazing) but then it becomes so much more. They do so many shows such as RUN BTS, they livestream with fans, they release dance practices, they have movies, travel vlogs and documentaries. We, as fans become invested in them as people, not just as artists. Add to that the community they have built (ARMY) and it's a beautiful machine made up of many parts. They don't just pretend to appreciate their fans...they truly do. None are related...they all came from different parts of Korea and didn't know each other, but they are definitely family at this point. Jungkook was 13 in global age when he signed his contract with BigHit and left home for good to work fulltime from that point on ..he was 15 when they debuted. Not only did 90,000 ARMY at Wembley sing them their song, they sang to them in Korean in a largely english speaking area of the world. Impressive. Thanks for reacting. PS..VLive isn't what they use for streaming anymore. It's now through their platform Weverse.

50:40 Those clips through the eyars' anniversaries are special... dinners they sit down and reflect for us to see. Early on it had a "radio" format, they plug a couple of songs and read (more or less) from a script, like the radio. But it goes wild.
So June 2022 was chaotic to say the least. It was the first time without a script. Nothing. And they poured it all out, they told us about the hiatus in group activities and many took it the wrong way (bc they don't trust them). Real ARMY understood it wasn't a goodbye. The confirmation came later in October that year when in front of many officials trying to benefit from them showing them the "exemption carrot" so they made a free concert promoting Busan as International Expo City for 20...35? around 100k ARMY were present (60k in the same stadium + 40k adjacent to them watching in a big screen + 52M watching online FOR FREE) and the next day they announced they were going to enlist sequentially. Being Jin, the oldest, the first one to go that winter (not before releasing a Coldplay "collab", his song and lyrics, but written originally by Coldplay, and flying 35h to Argentina to sing in front of 90K people before saying goodbye).
After that we started getting a couple of collabs, albums announcements, SUGA tour announcements, j-hope enlisted in April this year and June 2023 was BTS 10th anniversary. They threw a massive party in Seoul: buses, shops full of BTS stuff, and a big party with Namjoon as MC in a park there, which recorded 400K atendees and a 30min firework show (available in their channel BangtanTV under the Live tab).
So next year we will have Jin back, alone for 2024 anniversary (the days leading to that are called Festa) and who knows what we will get, but they've mentioned it a couple of times so they have something already prepared. As well as j-hope coming back in October. Our sun and moon, they are lovely together. And we already know about a project for 2025 (knowing them it's all recorded lol) commemorating a big album of theirs "The most beautiful moment in life" 10th anniversary.
So we are packed. Belts on if you intend to ride the rabbit hole ^^

6:20 Hundreds of groups debut in K-pop every year but extremely few make it more than 100 days and those are usually from the Big 3 K-pop companies. Boracity Magazine has made a great video on the music industry's (eastern and western's) attempts to find "the next BTS" which covers a lot of the points you bring up. She also has some a amazing videos on BTS vs different entities in the music industry, like BTS vs Radio and BTS vs Spotify etc. They give you a great insight into the dynamics of the industry as a whole.
Taylor really did an amazing job on this intro. She even posted a draft, took on input from us and changed a lot accordingly *however* she mainly focused on the positive story of BTS but there's a darker side to their success as well. Xceleste's video BTS Hardships 2013-2021 shows a very important part of their story and it goes a long way to explaining their uniquely close relationship with ARMY. I highly recommend it.
ARMY is actually an acronym for Adorable Representatives MC for Youth - doesn't sound quite as daunting now, does it? 😂 We really are all ages from 1 to 99, genders, faiths, nationalities, etc. We always try to portray the positive values of the group members themselves - love, respect and inclusivity - and although inevitably there are a few rotten apples in a fandom this big (approximately 15 million official fan club members and many millions more unofficial fans), if you receive any hateful comments they're most likely from antis/haters who try to discredit the fandom and BTS to deter reactions to their content. I'm just letting you know because unfortunately it's a common problem for BTS reactors and for us as well.
    A few helpful tips:
    - You might want to turn the volume up on the video you're reacting to. 😉
    - If you want subtitles on their older songs you need to get them from the TH-cam channel 1theK. It's just as safe and legit to react to. It wasn't until later they started their current channels and they didn't bother putting subtitles on the oldest stuff.
    - Since Taylor's video Vlive has been incorporated into Weverse, a platform developed by BigHit but used by many artists and companies now. Fan club membership is not a requirement and that's where they go live now, post comments and respond directly to ARMY's posts if you're extremely lucky. 😅
Have fun discovering the magic of BTS, feel free to ask us anything and enjoy the journey however short or long it may be. 😄
    - a danish ARMY, age 48 💜

Wow! I love your guys observations, I think you’ve really picked up how genuine these guys are! They share so much of themselves with their fans and rarely shy away from being flat out honest with us. In the music especially, it's so apparent they are artists of high calbier. They don't really have a one hit wonder story, like you kind of said they cultivated a community of connection online and generated fans because of who they are as people and their musical qualities. Their successes continued to get higher with each new release! It was gradual growth. And they are adamant about making music in honest ways with good intentions, there are so many acts that are just fraudulent with their methods! It's a breath of fresh air to know the success behind their songs are because real people listen and genuinely want to buy their music in support of them. BTS and ARMY are really awesome as a movement, BTS have positively influenced so much of us! I am much wiser having listened to BTS' lyrics and melodies and watching In The Soop, just learning about how you can share a common love for 7 men with millions of diverse, beautiful people around the world. BTS started from the bottom and they've come all this way, ARMY walking up this mountain together with them... it's so inspiring to see that genuine hardwork and a love and passion for your craft can succeed and have such a spectacular impact on the world. I think of their story and how these 7 kids from all different places in South Korean came together and just worked and worked with no rewards, releasing their first album after years of training and selling 34 copies on it's first day. 2 days less of 8 years later they would release their anthology album Proof and sell 2.15 million copies on the first day... I feel so much pride to see how far they've come. I can't wait to see their synergy and bond in 2025, I'm sure it'll be stronger than ever.
I totally just wrote this whole thing in 10 min lol I am feeling it today haha. I hope you guys continue to learn more about BTS through their music and official content. It's hard to find a group of talented, genuine, and kind people who make really good music nowadays. I find it very easy to love them and am very grateful for how they've helped me over the years since 2018 when i discovered them. Thank you for watching this video from Taylor. Welcome to Boraland, hope you're ready to be recruited into the ARMY 💜

They were not the first to place on BB. But they were the first to hit it 3 times on the album chart and hitting higher than the other that barely entered (they have hit more often since than). BoA was first in 2009 and there were a few Idol acts after her. (there is a wikipediapage called "List of K-pop albums on the billboard charts" - there is also one for songs)
BTS have 50 BB songs between them (HOT100).
The first to enter Billboard song charts were the Wonder Girls with "Nobody" at "76" for a week in 2009. Psy was next and managed No. 2 with "Gangnam Style" at 2 staying 31 weeks on the charts. He hits a few more times. Than CL on her own manages to 94 once.
After that in 2017 "DNA" hits BB at 67. And than... well.. the first and only Korean act to get a song on the HOT100 charts.
Big Hit was founded in 2005 by Bang Si Hyuk who is nicknamed "Hitman" - which seems to have been a joke on his name but he did write Hits. He did this for and with JYP at first. Together they tried to built a connection to US labels which failed. It seems they lived together for this and JYP left his socks everywhere to Bang's annoyance which lead to a "fight" and the suggestion that Bang could try to make his own label: Big Hit.
In 2007 it was nearly bankrupt but they had some artists they co-managed - one a group from his friend 2AM since 2010 - but also took care of 8eight in 2007. Not exactly something to get big with.
But Bang had an ear for music and had discovered a producer called Pdogg who is now the best payed producer in SK. The man likes his alcohol and one night he met a rapper friend called Sleepy over drinks. Sleepy had been at an audition and had recorded a young, talented rapper stagename Runch Randa (aka Kim Namjoon aka. RM) and left him with his number. He showed of the recording and Pdogg brought it to Bang: they all noticed the talent and Namjoon got invited for audition - ironically at a time where he was thinking about giving up on rapping to concentrate on school.
You can call it fate but it is certainly history.
They had a few trainees - at first planning to debut a Hiphop group. This got them the rapline - with ironically Hoseok being caught up in the rap-den despite "only" being a dancer. He learned and he learned fast.
But looking at finances and the uncertainty with their signed artists (in fact only Lee Hyun aka. MIDNATT stayed) it became clear they needed an Idol group - which netted them the vocalline more on accident than purpose. I'm not kidding: the rapline was safe from getting kicked out - they did everything to keep them - but not the vocalline (none of them had singing lessons before becoming trainees, Jimin had his first a few years after debut).
They have kicked trainees. They had no choice.
Their finances got worse when GLAM - also double signed and not trained by them - had a less than successfull debut in 2012 (they also self-destructed in 2014 I think). Bang thought of not even attempting to debut BTS -- they had a debt of ca. 100 Billion Korean Won aka. ca. 75 Million USD - but felt it his duty to do so and well... the rest is definetly history.
The label wanted artists/real musicians that could write their message into music which is what the rapline did and which the vocalline later followed. The label treats them well. They literary have to despite how big (at last guess they are about twice as big as the Big 3 together) they are and with how many acts they have now BTS is still 60% of their income. It needed approval of their Board of Directors to official re-sign the members a few months ago for their thirs contract that starts in 2025).
Korea did not wait for BTS:
They debut over 100 Idol groups evrey year and about 1% is staying around for a few years (usually from the big and mid-sized labels). A lot of groups stop existing before they make it to 100 days. SK has 4000 companys/official business/labels that make or produce albums.
But now BTS alone makes them ca. 0,5% aka. 5 Billion USD to SK's GDP each year. In 2018 - when they made less - that was already as much as 26 mid-sized companies.
      Fun Facts:
      - to this day Jin and JK "fight" who the forth member is. Jin met Namjoon first but JK signed first.
      - Technically it was Hoseok who was signed first to the label but he was the third to be signed to the project called BTS moving in in the 24th of december 2010.
      - JK looks in that clip "like a baby" because he was only 13 and a few months. He debuted before his 16th birthday. Koreans used to count a little differently - they have changed a few months ago to international way of counting - and you were 1 year old when born and got a year older at the Lunar New Year. (he is born in 1997, got signed in 2011 and debuted in 2013)
Less fun: Vlive lost interest when BTS - who were the face of the app - left and got their own app called weverse. As such in a an exchange Naver sold Vlive to Big Hit/HYBE. Since the company had their own app they finally shut vlive down. Incidently - because some labels are not that stubborn - a lot of artist are now on welive, too.
(SM made their own app but I'm half certain it didn't quiet work how they wanted and they seem to have contemplated to sell it and got backlash when that came out - you will find a lot of them on weverse, too)
BTW The cheating is on the labels not the artists. Big Hit/HYBE refuses to play that game. If it ever came out out they did it would be a very serious ht on their reputation: they pride themselves on their transparency and authenticity. (you can watch briefings on their youtube channel, find a lot of data on their official website and a lot of stuff has to be openly accesible in SK which means fans find it usually very fast - like new copyrighted names and who important people in the label follow on social media etc. - detective Army are no joke)
      You nice! Keep going! 💜

Good to see people are still discovering Bts... Cause yes there is something about the group, their personalities, their culture (as you noticed, the education, the way they talk or how they show a large spectrum of emotions)
BTS are a team, mainly 7 members, but also other songwrites, producers and choreographer /artistic director... Everything is a team work and most of them learned everything in the company, they had teachers for vocals, for dancing... They worked more then 12h a day, and for the first couple of years with barely a few days off a year... Practice, practice, practice. So yes it was the way they relate to their fans, but don't omit the hard, hard work behind their music and performances. That's why they grew and the company grew, now a corporation, multiple labels, but Big hit was the first one and the guys have parts of it😉

So glad you guys watched this video. It really helps give you perspective of who BTS is. They are not related but the guys see themselves as brothers and you will hear them say it during their lives. They lived together for almost 10 years and I personally feel this helped them connect even more. It’s why they are so different from other groups. Everyone in the industry knows how connected they are and how they are more like brothers than just band members. Korea used a different age system up until this year when they started using the international age system. JK was actually 13 about to be 14 when he joined BTS. He is literally the manifestation of all his brothers/members and he himself has said it too. It is fun to watch their videos either from RUN BTS (the show not the song), In the Soop (staycation), Bon Voyage (vacation trips with budget) to their behind the scenes videos. You get to learn more about them and of course their lives are out of this world. I was one of 6 million watching JK sleep during one of his lives. He has cooked, clean, folded clothes and even worked out with us on live. Their love for ARMY is genuine and we see it. Can’t wait to see more reactions from you both.

They earned everything they have now through effort, blood, sweat and tears, they came out of a small bankrupt company and they raised it fighting against racism, xenophobia, hatred, they knew how to get ahead with their talent, their humility, respect and a lot of perseverance competing in the On the way with big kpop groups and entertainment companies, they remained stable until now that they are going to go to military service in Korea even though it was mandatory to go, the government of their country gave them permission not to go because in Korea BTS is like A cultural heritage for them, they are their pride after everything they achieved, but BTS, since they are so humble and does not gain fame like other artists, they denied the request of the Korean government and want to go to the 7, like the good Koreans that they are, they want to comply. with their service since in Korea 30-year-old men are going to prepare to serve as soldiers in the army, it is mandatory to prepare them, only that 3 members of BTS are not yet 30 but they still want to go, anyway BTS paved the way and it will always be So after serving in the army they will return in 2025 with more strength to continue giving us more good music, singing rap, etc.🥺👏😌🤌👑😭

She made a easy to follow map and explains how BTS started as a rap/hip hop group before they formed as this group of 7 guys and shares the music they released as that too which I didn't know much about as ARMY for years so it's super interesting.
I recommend this because BTS have a LOT of music, unofficially released music too and it can be hard to navigate and understand their process/formula for their albums and the progressing message in their music over the years, all of which have progressively changed over the years. I really recommend the video, it's a really helpful video!

This is why he was chosen as the “Main Vocalist” and “Center” of BTS. 👑 The other members all say that he is the most talented artist that they have ever seen! And they all thank him and say that the group came this far because of him. They are all really proud of their “Golden Maknae”! He is a musical prodigy and his talent is on another level! 7:40 remember it's more common in Asian countries to reverse family name and first name (the family is more important than the individual!), so Kim is a surname, his name is Namjoon (or Joon, also Nam but not that often)...
And so with all members: Seokjin (stage name Jin), Yoongi (stage name SUGA), Hoseok -- > affectionate Hobi (stage name j-hope), Jimin (stage name Jimin, thank all that's good xD -- he planned on being baby j...), Taehyung -- > affectionate Tae, Taetae (stage name V), Jungkook -- > commonly JK (stage name Jung Kook -- the intervowel k in Korean is soft, like a g, so his name is pronounced more like "john-goog")
SK most common surnames are Kim, Park and Lee., by the way.

just popped into my feed, a BTS Army since 2018 from the Philippines. U put a smile on my face thru ur genuine reactions and being kind to BTS ARMY as were kinda feeling sad for a few days now that theyve already enlisted, BTS has saved many of us, from depression, anxiety, how to stand up for ourselves and how to remind ourselves to love ourselves but still keep a boundary to others so we dont get abused and to cut people from our lives who are toxic. U deserve the reception from ARMY. I just subscribed! BTS is a once in a lifetime group and inspire us everyday in music, in life, these guys are all animal lovers too, and i love the dogs barking at the background at first, at first i thought it was Bam, JK’s dog. He had another rescue dog Areum who passed away so before he enlisted he often livestreamed with Bam, and took Bam in one of their travel (show) In The Soop. Theyve set standards for us. BTS almost disbanded in 2017-2018 but here we are. Enjoy ur journey and i can see u falling into the rabbit hole slowy, And both of ur biases is JK, our golden maknae, our precious, sweet, pure, incredibly talented, handsome, humble, kind, sincere youngest guy. Yoongi is my bias and RM is my bias wrecker, we call our faves as bias and 2nd fave bias wrecker. JK is also my sister’s bias actually she isnt an army she just like Jungkook coz shes a fan of another girl group which im not a fan of.

If you love rap song.. I recommend ‘BTS - Tear live performance (with Eng Subtitles)’. It’s only just BTS Rap line. SUGA wrote this song when they thought about disbanding a few years ago. It’s one of my favorite song. 💜💜

Hi guys. Thank you for your honest and respectful reaction. They actually only have a small screenshot of the members. There is a video about their history as a band, another about the difficulties they have had (which are very enriching and illuminating not only about their history but also about the reason for many of their lyrics and why ARMY is so protective of BT) and another about BTS ARMY. All from xCeleste.---- To start with BTS I would recommend Black Swann for an entry into their performance art, dancing, singing, rapping, lyricism and so much more that is unthinkable. It would be a nice way to learn about his true art. Greetings from Argentina.

Thank you for reacting to BTS. I really like your reactions, because u seem very sincere.
I hope you can see more BTS performances.
For solo members, I recommend to you:
    RM - Wildflower, Seoul
Suga or Agustd - Trilogy (daechwita, haegeum, amydala). Those three songs are the whole story of Yoongi. People pt2 feat IU, snooze live performance
Jhope - on the street feat jcole, arson, more
    Taehyung/V - singularity, slow dancing
JK - my time, euphoria, seven feat latto
Jimin - set me free pt2, like crazy (mv, dance practice), serendipity, lie (live performance)
Jin - ephiphany (live), the astronaut
For BTS you have to see the live performance:
    Tiny desk concert
    Live proof
    MTV unplugged
    Bts medley concert
Mma 2018, Mma 2019 (it was epic)
(Make sure to get subtitles in it). Thankyou guys

If you really want to see their story in detail, I recommend the fan-made documentary that counts from their debut to mid-2018. The rise of bangtan. Hope you enjoy. There are 21 chapters. It will also introduce you to the kpop world, how it works, Competitiveness and how BTS is different from anything that has existed until then.😊

That’s most likely because one of the members caught their attention with his solo work and it has now lead them to checking out all of them. It’s just a guess. If that’s the case, we can’t blame people for not automatically checking out all of them. I haven’t checked to see who they’ve reacted to, but it make sense that the guys will be reaching new fans which hopefully will become BTS fans. 😊😊😊 💜

We love them because they are hilarious and so humble… and they treat each other like family… they are so much fun to watch and their lyrics warm your heart… their show is a must watch… they do games and challenges and it is so much chaos!!!! We Army love them for so many reasons… i know person that the pandemic would have been so much harder without them…💜💜💜💜💜

BTS members did argue a lot in the beginning. But bang pd their founder and big hits ceo at the time taught them to talk about their issues. Even if only 2 members were fighting they should talk things out with all 7. So they see each other as a family. They are super close. None are blood related though

Some song recommendations: Outro tear (no MV look for english lyric video or live performance at Wembley with eng subs), Dimple (live performance with eng subs). Also a good start to get a gist of BTS songs is Room Festa live 2021 (English subtitles available) it's a 11 min medley pf their songs from 2013 to 2020

FYI - Bang Shi Hyuk (Big Hit/Hybe founder & chairman) gave every BTS member shares in the company since they were the main reason that a nearly bankrupt company become one of the wealthiest.
I would suggest you watch the Apple Music interview with JK as it not only covers JK new album but a bit about the group & company’s past.
Thank you for your reaction from an Aussie ARMY.

He only gave them 0,6% each, while he himself has 61% (most out of all founders of labels in the world). And he also lied to BTS that they were not popular in USA (he overworked them, because of that) literally until their 2017 AMA performance... I think army should not think that he is friend or father of BTS... He is literally greedy businessman.

Hi, sorry I got quite curious about these numbers. Is there an article or any credible sources you have to back up this claim? It's conflicting to see how the boys talk highly of him but you're saying we shouldn't. Even in the vanity fair interview, Jin mentioned it was an accomplishment to call Bang PD 'hyung'. Idk what to feel about that because we should trust the boys and it seems like they trust him well enough to renew another contract. @@goldenhime8404
