Here I'm going to escape from a set of Irish 8 Handcuffs made by S.F co.
Not a lot of information about these handcuffs other than an educated guess that they were made sometime between 1867 and 1922.
This design is an "all in one" type restraint as it can be used as handcuffs and it can be used as a come along in a court room.
This escape is all because the @irishlockpicker is organising a giveaway and wanted Irish related videos

Thanks buddy 👍 The cuffs are a great design - admittedly these are a little large for me, and they would probably use "ladies" cuffs on me. The darby design was so successful it was in operation for over 100 years. A simple, yet effective model.

Great escape from the Irish Eights for Peter. I have never seen a Houdini’s Friend before. The tool l used was a black hard rubber tube that was forced over the internal threads and then pulled by a string. They broke very easily. Thanks for the history.🙏👍🦊
A Schrader bike valve stem works really well but does require some force to jam it on. With these figure 8's it's difficult to get a large amount of force because of where your hands are positioned.
Plastic tubing, like a biro can work in a pinch as well 👍

Very cool handcuffs, I have a pair of old shackles for the legs.
I have a few leg shackles, but my main focus has been handcuffs. You will have to do a video showing them off 👍

When I was eight (too many years ago) my granny (dad's mum) gave me some handcuffs almost the same. My Grandfather was a policeman. I have absolutely no idea what happened to them?

Houdini used to use a key that he split along it's length. This meant it would fit all the various darby models. Kind of like a universal darby key. This then had a hinge extension. Looking at the examples in books it was quite small and could be discreetly hidden in his clothing.

My brother in law was a "Screw" before he retired. When I see him I'm going ask if he knows why they called prison officers Screws 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🏻
