A friend of mine lives in Minnesota. She came to town and visited me. The debacle of this current election came up and she started gushing about this guy, this wonderful, amazing guy! She started listing all the things he had done for her state! THIS is who I want as vice president!

Then the Supremes installed Bush as president and stopped the Florida count as Gore was clearly going to pass Bush. All the other states had been called that night. In 2016 Trump was the projected winner the night of the election. Only in 2020 did the voting take so long, because the Republicans and Trump kept asking for recounts. My point being none of this is normal.

Canadian here, never lived in the US or anything, but after Tim’s first speech I actually felt there finally is real hope for our neighbors to the south. Like the country can be normal again. You know, not weird. And what a damn relief that is to work towards unity, whether we all agree or not, to celebrate our differences and work together to make things better for everyone. Tim is like this happy person whose cheerfulness and motivation rubs off on the entire room.

I've always loved him as governor, but I think he could do even more as VP to remind Americans that it's okay to laugh at the little things that annoy us, say ouch if we get hurt, and enjoy life for what it is while actually talking (and listening) to those with other opinions. We Minnesotans lean just a bit left on average (rural Minnesotans are shaking their fists at that), but not too far left. Centrist governors always do well. I met Tim Walz back when he was running for Congress for my district the first time. I was so impressed with him then, and I still am. We will miss him in Minnesota, but the country will gain a true gem.

My beautiful wife and friend was a teacher for over 40 years. She would spend my birthday directing a leadership camp near Mt Rainier for 25 years. I lost her due to pancreatic cancer in 2020, but if she were alive she'd be thrilled beyond belief having Harris and Walz in the position they are today. I can feel her exuberance and it brings me such joy.
When speaking about being in Afghanistan Walz did not embellish his military record as Walz made it clear he was talking about a trip he took to Afghanistan as a congressman. He was not serving the military when he took that trip and didn't say he was. Walz "misspoke" when he referred to "weapons of war that I carried in war" in a video clip from March 2018. He carried, fired and trained others to use weapons of war innumerable times. He therefore understands their firing power and rapid firing rate. He was stating that such weapons should be for military and police, not on the streets, but yes the way he phrased it was misleading. Whether it was intentional or not is uncertain. Yet, it doesn't take away from the fact that he was in the National Guard for just at 24 years. That he has admitted that he has misspoke, though that might be a softer version of saying he gave misleading information, has come closer to being apologetic about that than most political candidates get. He owned up to it rather than doubling and tripling down on inaccurate statements. Last but not least it seems that there's a double standard being held in our country when it comes to honesty and dishonesty. There's big fish stories and then there's harmful untruths, and it seems that many Americans are forgiving or even clinging hungrily to harmful untruths while viciously blasting big fish stories. That is (fish pun intended) bass ackwards to how we ought to view fishiness in politics and life.

Walz is not a newbie to changing things for the better, for the actual working people. He made changes that should have been done a long time ago ( Governor Dayton messed us up and told us to move if we didn't like it ). Free meals for kids in school, and yes, young girls have access to free hygiene products in school as well. Tim Walz has become my new favorite politician. I wish they were all like him. I love that he’s not wealthy. Compared to the rest of the country, he’s right smack dab in the middle. He’s actually just an average American. And he turned down a pay raise because he passed the bill and it would have been unethical? Where has he been all these years?

Canadian here, never lived in the US or anything, but after Tim’s first speech I actually felt there finally is real hope for our neighbors to the south. Like the country can be normal again. You know, not weird. And what a damn relief that is to work towards unity, whether we all agree or not, to celebrate our differences and work together to make things better for everyone. Tim is like this happy person whose cheerfulness and motivation rubs off on the entire room.

Tim is how Americans want to be (like, our inner cool uncle), but we're often too afraid to let ourselves go and trust that our neighbors want the same things we want. Tim's a happy reminder of a kind of ideal that can actually become reality for us, just as it is for him. I've always loved him as governor, but I think he could do even more as VP to remind Americans that it's okay to laugh at the little things that annoy us, say ouch if we get hurt, and enjoy life for what it is while actually talking (and listening) to those with other opinions.
We Minnesotans lean just a bit left on average (rural Minnesotans are shaking their fists at that), but not too far left. Centrist governors always do well. They're the ones who know how to talk with the opposition, and they understand good ideas might come from either side of the aisle.

Tim Walz slept with at least 2 students when he was a teacher before being fired. They slept at his house, and they went to concerts together.
I met Tim Walz back when he was running for Congress for my district the first time. I was so impressed with him then, and I still am. We will miss him in Minnesota, but the country will gain a true gem.
Seing him, I wouldn’t be surprised if after the next 4 or 8 years he goes back to coaching football or something.
He has that Jimmy Carter level of approachability. You could see him tinkering in his workshop, helping out a friend after retiring from the VP job.

My beautiful wife and friend was a teacher for over 40 years. She would spend my birthday directing a leadership camp near Mt Rainier for 25 years. I lost her due to pancreatic cancer in 2020, but if she were alive she'd be thrilled beyond belief having Harris and Walz in the position they are today. I can feel her exuberance and it brings me such joy.
Whenever I get a teacher as a patient I tell them they are a VIP. Sorry for your loss, she sounds like an amazing person, as teachers tend to be.

Claimed to be fighting for the country in Afghanistan, was deployed in Italy. Stolen Valor Tim, what a great guy.
When speaking about being in Afghanistan Walz did not embellish his military record as Walz made it clear he was talking about a trip he took to Afghanistan as a congressman. He was not serving the military when he took that trip and didn't say he was. Walz "misspoke" when he referred to "weapons of war that I carried in war" in a video clip from March 2018. He carried, fired and trained others to use weapons of war innumerable times. He therefore understands their firing power and rapid firing rate. He was stating that such weapons should be for military and police, not on the streets, but yes the way he phrased it was misleading. Whether it was intentional or not is uncertain. Yet, it doesn't take away from the fact that he was in the National Guard for just at 24 years. That he has admitted that he has misspoke, though that might be a softer version of saying he gave misleading information, has come closer to being apologetic about that than most political candidates get. He owned up to it rather than doubling and tripling down on inaccurate statements. Last but not least it seems that there's a double standard being held in our country when it comes to honesty and dishonesty. There's big fish stories and then there's harmful untruths, and it seems that many Americans are forgiving or even clinging hungrily to harmful untruths while viciously blasting big fish stories. That is (fish pun intended) bass ackwards to how we ought to view fishiness in politics and life.

Free meals for kids in school, and yes, young girls have access to free hygiene products in school as well.
