I've been binge-watching "Paradise" reactions since Meatloaf passed a few days ago, and yours is definitely one of my favorite. RIP to a legend.

I've been doing the same, because I just showed my 26 year old son this song and he thought it was hilarious. It is so fun to watch people react to it, because it is NOTHING like they have ever seen before. When you first heard it, what did you do the very next chance you got? I made a cassette tape and showed my friends at school. I hope hope hope that people keep just passing it on. It is so great. I laugh right along with each person I see react to it, and I have never been to this channel, but I will sub right now just because of this great reaction. I love seeing a pure unadulterated reaction to it.

I seriously was cracking up, laughing out loud at your reaction to this. Meatloaf is an iconic performer. As you guessed, they were making out in the a car, the dashboard lights were letting him see her body.... or parts of it. The baseball references were as he was getting to 1st, 2nd and 3rd "base" with her...
"Rock opera" is what you just witnessed. Meat is the guy and he was known for not only having a great voice, but being very theatrical. You are correct, they put on the whole show. Your reaction was hilarious.
I don't think there is a bad Meatloaf song. He's on my list of my top 5 faves.

"Let me sleep on it" always makes me laugh. I was in high school when the album Bat out of Hell came out and I literally wore the grooves off it. I played it so much, i even caught my mom singing along to it. lol. Got to see Meat loaf live in 78, one of the best concerts ever. He accidentally stepped on the coach's foot and the coach yelled "Get off of me you hunk of meatloaf!" Ironically, he does not eat meatloaf. He's always been big,

What a lot of people miss is this is his memory of that night. The first couple of line where he says "I remember it as if it was only yesterday" and at the end where the line is "it was long ago and far away". The waiting for the end of time is in the future long after that night. RIP Meat

i am a massive die hard fan for 30+ years and had seen him multiple times in ireland and all his concerts were brilliant, very theatrical and funny. he was a great performer with his own style and his songs were filled with filthy innuendos which i really loved and made me laugh. also your reaction was the best i have ever, seen to this song.

Her name is Ellen Foley and she also does "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth (On a Hot Summer Night)" with Meat.
That's not Ellen Foley in the video though. She was an actor too and played a role in the first couple seasons of Night Court.
Yup, this is Karla DeVito, who toured with the Loaf, but she is lip-synching to Foley's recorded vocals (and Meat Loaf is lip-synching to his own vocals) just for the official music video here
Technically, neither Meatloaf nor Karla are “lip synching”, which is where you intentionally move your mouth to match an audio (& is how most videos are made). Both are singing their hearts out. It’s just that the audio from the live performance wasn’t used for the video. Ellen Foley did the album vocals (released Oct. 1977), but couldn’t do the tour (1977-78). Karla DeVito did the tour. When MTV came along (Aug. 1981), you Had to have a video, or your song wouldn’t get played on that massively popular format. It was common to create videos for “pre-video” songs, by taking studio audio & synching it to video of a prior performance. Credit for how well the Bat Out Of Hell videos are synched goes to the technicians, who had to carefully select shots & painstakingly speed up or slow down the visual, to match the live movements to the studio vocals. They did a far better job than most.

I’ve watched a bunch of reaction videos tonight to Paradise by the Dashboard Light. Nobody seemed to get the significance of the baseball sequence; they seemed to be watching the action or just talking over the speaking. On the record, of course, all you could hear was the speaking. It was by Phil Rizzuto, an All Star player for the NY Yankees. He won seven World Series. After retiring from baseball, Rizzuto famously broadcast Yankee games on radio and television for the next 40 years. His popular catchphrase was "Holy cow." In the song, Meat Loaf says, “We’re going to all the way tonight tonight, we’re going to go all the way tonight.” At least in the 50s, a guy tried to get to first base (kissing), then second base (boobs), then third base (fingering), and then “go all the way” home. Get it? RIP Marvin Lee Aday.

It was no accident that the "Suicide Squeeze" was in that! The baseball scenes were completely different from the radio announcers'' voice too. There were two games going on; 1. he wanted to hump., 2. She wanted marriage! They put a whole lot, II mean a whole loot of work into producing this mini-rock-opera... This pure Americana--from parking by a lake after a high school dance (inferred from his tux), and the Chuck Berry, 1950's chords; pre-disco era morals; and the aftermath of hormonally induced decision-making... Your reactions to this great bit of art are legendary. Thanks!

Give it the band in the background. Meatloaf got his start with The Rocky Horror Picture Show so a lot if his performances are very theatrical. This song was a teenage anthem for an entire generation back in the 70s. Great reaction to a great song.
Meat Loaf got his start in musical theatre, and kept that vibe in his live performances. That's why everything is so over the top. He played Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show too.
On the Broadway show he even played Eddie AND Dr. Everett Scott. There are still audio recordings out there, but sadly no videos. I would have loved seeing him on a Broadway stage.

I’m not gonna lie. This is my favorite song of all time! I had a very similar experience when I was a junior in high school. 😂 Let’s just say this song hits a personal note for me. I have known that special person since I was 7 years old and she is now my wife and mother to my 2 boys.
