He was an actor before he was a singer
His daughter Pearl Aday is married to Ian Scott, singer in the band Anthrax.
So glad to know the next generation is interested in our music
Michael Lee Aday (born Marvin Lee Aday; September 27, 1947 - January 20, 2022), known professionally as Meat Loaf, was an American singer He is one of the best selling music artists in history. His Bat Out of Hell trilogy-Bat Out of Hell (1977), Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell (1993), and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose(2006)-has sold more than 100 million records worldwide. The first album stayed on the charts for over nine years, as of 2016 still sold an estimated 200,000 copies annually.
After the commercial success of Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell, and earning a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the song "I'd Do Anything for Love", Meat Loaf nevertheless experienced some difficulty establishing a steady career within the United States. The key to this success was his popularity in Europe, especially in the United Kingdom and Ireland. He received the 1994 Brit Award in the United Kingdom for bestselling album and single. He appeared in the 1997 film Spice World and he ranked 23rd for the number of weeks spent on the UK charts in 2006. He ranks 96th on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock".
Meat Loaf appeared in over 50 films and television shows, sometimes as himself or as characters resembling his stage persona. His film roles included Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and Robert Paulson in Fight Club (1999). His early stage work included dual roles in the original Broadway cast of The Rocky Horror Show. He also appeared in the musical Hair, both on and Off-Broadway.
Thanks for sharing
His daughter is married to Ian Scott from the band Anthrax.
Both Meat Loaf and songwriter/piano player Jim Steinman refer to their music as "Wagnerian Rock" because both of them were big into theater. Every major Meat Loaf song was written by Steinman, who also wrote hits for several other artists as well, including Celine Dion, Bonnie Tyler and Air Supply!
Meatloaf was Eddie the Delivery Boy from "Rocky Horror Picture Show". Midnight showings in high school. LOL.
When this song came out every woman I knew bought this album, just for this song.
He wanted to wait until the next day to answer her but he still wanted to go all the way that night! 😃
😂 🙈
@@KingGreatnessKGplease react to Bat Out Of Hell.
The rock opera is great.
RIP Meatloaf. Thank you for all the great songs.
From what I have read, the name Meatloaf came from his high school football coach who had nick-named him Meatloaf when he was playing High School Football.
Does anybody remember in rocky horror picture show when someone asked what was for dinner and Tim Curry said meatloaf, pulled back the tablecloth to expose the singer from meatloaf for dinner???
He is Meatloaf, and if you want to call it a band, it would be him and the piano player who writes all the songs.
Phenomenal! I love Meatloaf! I wore out so many cassettes of this!!
yes Queen.. we call it
Rock Opera..big in the 70s
This video pre-dated the original MTV by 3 years, I believe. I saw it as an intro to The Rocky Horror Picture Show in Philadelphia back in 1979.
I have read that his father called him Meat when he was born. His album Bat Out of Hell was one of my first albums as a teen. It had Bat Out of Hell, Dead Ringer for Love, Took the words right out of my mouth, Two out of three ain't bad. At the same time I was listening to Billy Joel's album An Innocent Man.
That was called a rock opera!
"The feeling came upon me like a tidal wave" 😃
Bat Out of Hell, Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad, You Took the Words Right Out Of My Mouth, I'd Do Anything For Love, And Heaven Can Wait are all great songs of his worth checking out. Jim Stienman wrote all of his best songs plus other ones for Air Supply, Bonnie Tyler, Celine Dion, Barry Manilow, and many others.
(fun fact) the radio announcers name was Phil Rizzuto - he was a REAL baseball radio announcer from the New York Yankees
He was a major league player as well
Rock Opera❤❤🎙🎙👏👏👏
You need to do "Two Out Of Three Aren't Bad"
Meatloaf is his name. This was a Rock Opera. His album Bat Out Of Hell is awesome. You should check out Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad. That one really shows his singing voice
Coming soon
According to South Park , Chef got him to change his name from Cous Cous to Meatloaf and he took off lol
This was my best friend and my favorite song we used to do karaoke to it back in the day. It never gets old!
The battle of the sexes has never been funnier!
🤣❤️ He's almost too honest lol. You should do " Two out of three aint bad!" I do love her voice.
Coming soon!
The actual female voice was a lady who was in the 1st season of Night Court. She was ok with singing, but not touring.
Love meatloaf!! 💝💞
I’d Do Anything For Love, Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad, Bat Out of Hell album, Meatloaf was an amazing singer / actor / performer, this genre was Rock Opera and very popular 70’s 80’s he sold many many records 💟☮️💟☮️💘😻
Stay tuned
I got see meatloaf LIVE in Boston ma in 1977 the show as good as video.
Meatloaf always thought of himself as an actor and made all his videos theatrical occasions. He has been in some movies. The Rocky Horror Picture show, and Fight club As well as Roadie, Wayne's World and many more.
I enjoyed you reaction and analysis- thanks! This was a style/genre of music during the mid to late 1970's referred to often as "Rock Opera's" as it was a step forward from traditional musical theater at the time and yes your Freddy Mercury/Queen vibes/feeling was correct as 'Queen' early music were rock operas ('Bohemian Rhapsody"). You were also right about the 'Elvis' vibe in the beginning of the song as they were thinking back to the 1950s when they were just 17 years old and 'Doowop' was the music style at that time. The story line progresses into the 1970s when they are feeling a middle age reflection of what brought them to the place in their life and any regrets they may have about choices made when they were too young. You seem to enjoy and appreciate the talent involving their theatrical accent so I would recommend checking out Meatloaf's "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad".
The entire " Bat Out Hell " album
he was an aamzing singer, all his songs are great, hi sname was michael day, mearloaf was the band and him
One night to get in ... a lifetime to get out! LOL
I got to see them live, and they put on one hell of a show. If you want to try more of their music, I suggest too out of three ain't bad.
oooohhhhhhyes
I love Meat Loaf. I was "barely 17" and had just met the man that became my husband when BOOH dropped. I wore that album out. Do For Crying Out Loud from the same album. No video but the song is fantastic.
Absolutely one of my favorite songs ever!
For his honesty to a woman check out his " Two Out Of Three aint Bad".
Coming soon
Dude let it play.. u will love it 😎👍
checkin in...
You have a voice for the radio. You sound great
For the afternoon or midnight hour? 👀 😂
he was in rocky horror picture show on braodway
And the movie
Another guy who looks way different than he sounds is John Popper from blues traveler ( also maybe the best harmonica player I’ve ever heard) check out Runaround or Hook from blues traveler
Two Out of Three Ain't Bad & I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) are 2 songs to check out.
This is rock opera !
Genre :: Rock Opera
As an fyi, both Meatloaf and Ellen came from a musical theater back ground, which is why you picked up on how theatrical the performance was.
"Bat Out of Hell", "I Would Do Anything For Love"...
More coming soon. Thanks
Did you notice him picking up the mike stand to threaten her?
Turning a song into a whole production number isn't unique to Meatloaf, although he seemed to do it more often than most. It can be seen most particularly with his video for I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That). You might say he's more of a performer than a singer. Then there are rock operas. The biggest one (at the time) was Tommy by The Who, but my favorite was Phantom of the Paradise by Paul Williams. And then there's the ultimate rock opera: Rocky Horror Picture Show, which Meatloaf was in. :)
Love Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman (I think). They both geniuses in their own ways.
I am a new sub starting from a Falling in Reverse video. Also, if I may, I would like to recommend a couple of additional bands for the future. Nightwish - Ghost Love Score Live at Wacken 2013. They are called Symphonic Metal. And Ayreon - anything from him. He is prog rock in space. Ayreon Universe is an amazing concert.
next on the menu "Pink Floyd - another brick in the wall"
❤
His theatrics are incidental...he went to get a job parking cars but got a job in the play HAIR....ran from an abusive father...RIP MEATLOAF.
🙏🏽
NEXT ONE from Meatloaf BAT OUT of HELL .Nice work
Great music in all levels… 🤷🏻♂️
The whole Bat out of He'll album should be explored. His real name was Marvin Lee A day. He went by Meat Loaf.
He legally changed it to Michael.
ROCK OPERA ...
Hello. Can you please react to Come back to me by RM 💜
I guess humor is not your thing 😂
Neither is paying attention to lyrics. He had no clue what the story was, so how could he understand the humor? Most reactors at least figure it out by the baseball montage or the “do you love me?” sequence.
Meatloaf is a band. And that was his chuc in the video aas well.
Bad ass jam💯👍🥰
